I purchased my Wildkat about 8 years ago,and yes I'm a little late posting a review. One of my favorite guitars I've played. Great sustain, love the P90 pickups and the sound!! Beautiful finish.

the neck pickup has the sweetest sound of all my guitars....amazing soft creamy sustain. The bridge isnt that great, and like every epi i ever owned - tuning issues/ It is my fave guitar tho, in spite of it all, and i will get it to a tech someday to set it up properly.

Absolutely amazing guitar for this price point. Nice feeling large neck profile, decent workmanship, & very good sounding P-90 pickups. The Bigsby tremolo also seems to be good quality. I did initially have some tuning stability issues, however, when I changed the strings, I noticed that the bridge was slightly loose. I fixed that issue by locking down the bridge with a couple of thin hex nuts. Now the tuning is much more stable. These guitars sound a little dark, which, depending on your style, may or may not be a good thing. Apparently, this is mostly caused by the lengthy high capacitance wiring harness. With some work, and a few inexpensive tweaks, these already good guitars can be made excellent.

I ordered this Wildkat from L&M Edmonton North, and after a week and a half at home, I packed it up and returned it. Great customer service at my L&M store. No questions or hassle. This individual guitar had it's problems. It seemed like the fret spacing was off. Could be tuned perfectly, but playing a single note on any string up the neck would result in a slight # to a full #. Without even touching the bigsby. All the mounting screws on the bigsby were loose. I tightened them, lubed the bushings but it would never return to proper tune after use. It would stay # or stay b, whichever way you used it. Control knobs were installed horribly. Pushed on half way and crooked. Could not repair, needed new. The inside of the guitar had a rough, sprayed in coating. Almost like undercoating on a vehicle, no clear wood to be seen. Very weird??? There were some rub marks on the finish right out of the box. ( I never take display models). This guitar model has great potential. Perfect size, visually stunning, nice pickups, very good sound, good controls with the master volume, actually good quality on the body assembly. But this one fell short for many reasons and it may be just this unit. I know they are all made in China, but probably different areas or plants. The LP's are pristine and also inspected by the US before distribution, at least that's what the sticker on the headstock says. The Wildkat's are not. They are shipped direct from China. Maybe that's the problem. Poor QC management. Epiphone has a great product with this Wildkat, it maybe should be sent down the same path as the topend LP's. I would not pay more for the Royal colours but I would pay more for better quality. Again, my local L&M was very accommodating with my dilemma and will have my business for ever. My 1960 LP Plus Tribute has been ordered.

Just bought this yesterday at Bloor L&M.Blown away by the many different tones.Actually does allow me to play and sound better.Perfect fret height, feels smooth and plays like a thousand dollar guitar.A couple of things though, one vol. pot wobbles when turned, and the bridge pup was put in slightly askew and is noticeable.Other than that this is one sweet Kat. Played cold shot by SRV with a few different tones, amazing. Well worth the price. Also I've read that it's P90s were noisey, thats simply not true.I always buy humbuckers but these babies have changed my opinion on single coils pups.It does have tunning issues due to the Bigsby but I'll have to get some nut sauce or some lube.Love this Kat.

I was looking for a vintage P90 sound in an affordable archtop that felt good to play. I have a few G&L's, old Strats, some vintage Kays, and a custom shop tele, and this is my favourite guitar right now. Great sounding guitar with a fast easy neck. Looks fantastic too. Unbelievable value. Made in China - and top quality! Thanks to my friends at L&M downtown (107 ave)!

I was going to get a 335 or a 339 and there was a wildkat hanging on the wall so I thought meh what the heck I'll try it. I'm really glad I did. I bought it that day and have no regrets. Sounds gnarly and fat and you can get a great clean sound too. The bigsby is awesome and it sounds great with a slide. Since I've been playing this axe my picking has improved so much. Love it.

I bought this guitar back in January, after really liking the fact that I played differently on this guitar than any of my other guitars. Since then, I've fallen in love with the instrument. It plays like a dream and is FAR better appointed than its price tag would lead one to believe.

This is my second Epiphone guitar. I was blown away by my Epi LP Studio and am even happier with Wildkat. First of all it is beautful to look at but more importantly it plays like a dream. If you are on the fence as the whether or not to get one, jump off and get over to L&M and buy one.

This guitar has great fit and finish and plays like a dream. It looks, feels, and plays like it should cost much more. However the electronics are kind of cheap and I don't care much for the hum of the P-90's (personal preference). I plan to install some TV Jones humbuckers and some CTS pots.

This is one of the nicest guitars I had the pleasure of playing easily feels and plays like a $2000 guitar. It has a very aggressive gnarly sound to crisp chicken plucking. To be honest I had no idea I played this well until I purchased this. I played some Dots and ES guitars beyond my price range and got a tip on a good guitar comparable to some of those. This guitar has more of the sound I was after and by total fluke it is in my hands now. Thank you Long McQuade South Edmonton and thank you Kleigh for getting my order lined up for me flawlessly!

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
