TONE AS THICK AS WEST TEXAS CRUDE!

Introducing the new Pure Class A, EL-84 Powered LONE STAR SPECIAL featuring Channel Assignable Power (patent pending) that allows you to assign 1, 2 or all 4 EL-84s to either of its 2 Channels for independent Power Ratings of 5, 15 or 30 Watts!

In one short year, the stylistic momentum of the Lone Star has been overwhelming.

Players and reviewers alike have bestowed global accolades on this gem, including prestigious Editors Pick and Platinum Awards.

So why another Lone Star? Because tone this good, demands it!

Take that incredibly expressive pre-amp with its intuitive versatility, add the vintage magic of EL-84s running Pure Class A and a new classic is born.

Where its Big Brother boasts the huge warmth and headroom of 6L6 power, the Special delivers seductive, bubbly tone and a sensual, elastic feel. This Lone Star is short on weight, but tall on personality.

Authentic retro-tone is all about power and the way it clips. Yet in any given amp, the sweet-spot of power clip is inseparably tied to its wattage and playing loudness. The Lone Star Special smashes this age-old limitation by offering three distinct power configurations, each with its own window of wattage: 30, 15, or 5. Perfect Power. Per Channel. On Demand.

Thirty Watts, bold and pure from all four power tubes punches through the mix and hangs with a band in mid-size venues. Fifteen watts cries the blues with sinful passion coaxing expressive soul from an electron-soaked pair of EL-84s. Both these circuits run Pure Class A in a Push-Pull configuration. But what really makes this Lone Star Special is its ability to switch down to five watts of single-ended power bliss (patent pending).

In Push-Pull circuits, the second harmonic is cancelled out when the two halves of the wave-form are re-combined in the output transformer. Unlike Push-Pull, Single-Ended circuits preserve this most musical of all harmonics. A subtle coating of warm distortion (an octave above the note youre playing) glazes the entire spectrum with a purring, golden halo of precious nuance. Perfect for individual playing or recording. For a full description of this technology see Randall Smith's "Class A - Exposed and Explained."

Between the two Lone Stars, you can choose to clip your power at 5, 15, 30, 50 or 100 watts. All this bouncy Class A tone blooms naturally in a trim new 1x12 cab roughly 3/4s the size of its Big Brother. (And you can afford to pack both these hand-crafted jewels for around the same bling-bling as a one-trick pony from the boutique corral. But dont shop price compare tone!)

Gigging at the club rehearsing with the band recording in the studio tracking at home or simply finding inspiration late at night the finely tuned power sections of the Lone Star Special transcend all these needs going where no single amp has gone before.TONE AS THICK

I know tone and gear are subjective but the Mesa LSS is one smooth, transparent, dynamic tone monster. Country, blues, jazz and rock This amp covers all the bases (except death metal). It sound amazing with both single coil and humbuckers. It's not cheap ---- but it's worth every dollar!

When you play with this amp you can hear the tones of many classic hits. Probably because Mesa is a great studio amp. Within seconds you can obtain the Santana soothing sound or the Clapton drive. Save up and treat yourself someday. Now I have 3 amps for sale!!!

I have a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe (Texas Red) and This Mesa Boogie Lone Star. Both amps are great but I find myself playing the Lonestar more. The LoneStar is by far the best amp I have ever own, the clean is so pure and the dirt channels have the perfect tone . I love this amp and have no desire to buy another tube amp again this does the job well.

this one i own is so worth the money; i started with an old f-30 and decided on this one; i am so confident with the quality that i didn't even send in the warranty. Why? because everyone i know that owns it, regardless of when recommends it. Mine is 6 months old and i play it almost everyday; M.B have for a long period, set the standard for tube amps. This one is no exception; try it at your local dealer; you'll most likely be impressed.

Product Experience   I've tried it
Closest Store   Vancouver, British Columbia
I've had two, and I'll likely end up with a third. The first one was defective, and the store that I bought it at (not L&M) had a lousy return policy so I ended up with a store credit. After I purchased a guitar with the credit and cast off my relationship with them, I went on the hunt for another amp. I ended up buying an amp from another manufacturer, but missed the sound of the Lonestar Special so much, I sold the other amp and bought another Lonestar. In the end I decided that I wanted something lighter (the one downfall - IMHO - is the weight of it), so I sold it. Once again, I have regrets of not having it still. I know that I'll get another one, and I'll just resign myself to leaving it at home, and not carrying. One of the many things that is great abou it is that it works with any electric guitar, Strat, Tele or Les Paul, all sound great, and in both channels. If you play the blues or classic rock, look no further, and you can do away with two pedals: reverb and OD because it has absolutely amazing reverb and the second channel provides a very wide range or OD. Oh, and it looks nice.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
