I wrote the previous review and after less then a year of owning I had to take these in to get repaired twice as the right speaker/driver would fizz out with anything bass-y. Much love to the fine ppl at Bloor L&M as they gave me a new pair after I came back with the same issue the 2nd time, but I prob wouldn't buy these again for this reason. Also worth noting that you can't extend the warranty or even repair most, if not all HP past a year as they're considered "disposable" by manufacturers/L&M. Doesn't really make me want to invest in a nice set of HP if you just have to throw them in the garbage after 1.5 years... I still think they sound great but maybe my expectations for quality and longevity are just too high for a $500 pair of headphones?

Very nice, transparent headphones. The lightest and most comfortable I've used, you almost forget they're even on your head. They're an extremely honest set of headphones that are great for judging mixes/masters. No hype to them at all, you're just hearing what's there. An especially smooth open high end. Compared to the Beyerdynamic DT 1990 pro's I have they are less "fun" to listen to but again, more honest. They have less depth and less subs compared to the 1990s and I feel less immersed in what I'm listening to but I still end up using these 90% of the time while working and then checking on the 1990's when I'm almost done what I'm working on (for lows). I've owned and spent lots of time with Beyer 990, Sony MDR7506, AKG K121 and more recently the Beyer 1990s, and if I had to chose (after a month of owning these HD600s) I'd say the HD600's are my desert island for studio work. I don't usually write reviews but found researching headphones before buying these extremely difficult as audiophiles use different language to describe sound than people who record music and it's all jumbled together in most forums etc. Also, often the people who have time to write these are 60+ classic rock dudes who probably can't hear above 10k anyways! So for reference, I'm in my 30's and work on folk/electronic/indie/experimental/ambient....hope this helps a bit on your headphone journey!
