The new and improved UM Pro 30 features three proprietary balanced-armature drivers and a three-way passive crossover in an even more ergonomic and durable form factor. Each driver is designed to reproduce a specific part of the frequency range: lows, mids and highs. The UM Pro 30 was developed specifically to increase sonic detail and clarity, as the soundstage features powerful lows, articulate mids and crystal-clear highs that produce a performance, power and output perfect for any stage or venue.

FEATURES

Westone True-Fit Technology provides a low-profile, lightweight, universal earpiece which delivers maximum comfort and in-ear coupling for dynamic transfer of sound.

Three Balanced Armature Drivers are significantly more compact and efficient than traditional dynamic drivers. As the pioneers in combining multiple balanced armature drivers with sophisticated crossover networks, Westone monitors provide enhanced sonic detail and frequency range that extends well beyond typical in-ear monitors.

MMCX Audio Twisted Cable: Westone's robust replaceable cable is constructed of bifurcated, high-flex, ultra-low resistance tensile wire, reinforced with a special aramid fiber, and braided for ultimate durability, acoustic transparency, and isolation from mechanical cable noise. Equipped with Westone's proprietary, high tolerance MMCX connectors ensure a reliable connection every time.

Acoustic Symmetry: Left and right earpiece responses are matched to an extremely tight 3dB tolerance.

I have had a really mixed experience with Westone IEMs. I originally used Shure monitors, but picked up a pair of Westone UM10's because the cable was lighter and less of a nuisance. However, in comparison to the Shure SE215, the sound quality (especially the bass) was distinctly lacking. I ended up picking up a pair of Westone UM20's as an upgrade, and while the sound quality was a significant step up, instead I ran into design issues. The piece that the detachable eartips attach to is slightly more narrow and rounded at the end, and as a result the eartips would gradually slide off rather than remain firmly in place. This lead to some uncomfortable experiences where the eartip would detach while the IEM was still inside my ear. Not the best. For whatever reason, I was still willing to trust the brand and I picked these up but I'll admit, my previous experiences had made me rather cynical. I was ready to dismiss these for the slightest fault. That being said, these things are amazing. The design is great. Despite holding more drivers, they are a much smaller and more ergonomic form factor than my prior 2 models. The sound is incredible - perfect separation, clear and well defined bass, distinct highs and satisfying mids. Every characteristic of the sound is pleasant. My only real contentions are that the cable, and the accessories. The cable is short and somewhat delicate. It's a thin braid and not terribly inspiring of confidence compared to the Shure cables. The accessories are exactly the same as they are in the cheapest model - same tips, same case, same everything. I would have hoped that with a premium grade model, that it would include a nicer carrying case or something of the like but I'll let it slide. One thing that I'll note is that this is my second pair. My first pair had a build quality issue that caused the right bud to randomly lose signal, but my pair was quickly replaced. No problems since, though the experience did once again detract a bit from my confidence in the brand. All in all, solid IEMs. Would definitely recommend to any serious musician or audiophile.
