Dark, rich, brilliant, warm. Wide range, slightly complex mix. Even, balanced and very responsive feel. Woody, silvery ping over a wide, dark and full wash. Opens quickly when crashed. The ultimate, classic beat ride sound. Paiste develops the Formula 602 in the late 1950's from the traditional 20% Bronze, a cymbal line rooted in Jazz and acoustic Rock'n'roll that exhibits a cool, rich, sophisticated sound character and gains us the first wave of international notoriety - Yet the company does not rest, experiments with CuSn8 bronze alloy, and pioneers CuSn8 cymbals in 1963 - Around the same time, the world is experiencing the rapid expansion of Rock music, which emerges forcefully from the foundations of Blues, Folk, Country and Rock'n'Roll as bands like the Rolling Stones, Yardbirds, Animals, Beatles, Kinks and the Who take the stage - The electrified sound they generate is groundbreaking - Popular music, simply stated, becomes loud and irreverent - The new bronze alloy Paiste is already working with turns out to be perfect for the new soundscape with its amplified volume and frequencies - In 1967 Paiste launches Giant Beat cymbals, which are characterized by warmth, strength and brilliance such as drummers had not known before.

A real 1960s feel to this cymbal and really works to cut through rock music. Nice wash that can be controlled. Definitely not a jazz cymbal unless you use it for big band. Like all Paiste cymbals they are bit overpriced but once you own one you will keep it in your collection.

I've heard this ride a lot, to me it's the perfect ride. It's somewhat pricey but you get what you pay for, pure quality. I love that it has an awesome ride sound while also having the ability to have an explosive deep crash. One day this cymbal will be mine, but I might have to sound proof my house haha! Also you should add Zeppelin to that list, Bonzo used this cymbal for a lot of his earlier days, before switching to 2002s.
