Pros: Music sounds pretty good, it's slightly boomy so you will have to EQ it a bit. Battery life is good. I like the multi position aspect. Cons: Doesn't matter which mic I try at 50%+ the signal clips (red) when I do guttural vocals. I'm louder than most and I don't cup the mic and I still get distortion. Tc Helicon, Sm57, sm58, all distort. There is no phantom power so there is no fix for this. I talked to the useless 'tech support', it's just an outsourced person reading from a script. Conclusion: Don't buy it if you do guttural vocals and you aren't always running through a mixer, your mic needs to be hotter to fix this.

I play farmers markets where there is rarely power, so battery power is required. I have used my Yorkville setup with a power inverter, I have 2 Traynor TVM50's, a Roland microcube, Vox soundbox and nothing has anywhere near the sound quality of this thing. on breaks I use the bluetooth and the bass response is just amazing. I did a market with the Bose one side and a Traynor the other. I had the bass on the traynor max and treble cranked down to 1/4. the Bose the bass was under half and flat on treble and there was just no comparison. I just put my Traynors up for sale so I can buy another Bose

I just purchased 2 Bose S1 Pro units!! These little guys are "AMAZING"!!!! I have been using them as personal monitors, as the main PA at a small venue up to 150 guests and use them for rehearsing in my home studio!! I own other Bose products and am extremely satisfied and AMAZED with the superior Quality of sound and Portability!! Thank you Bose for making these great products and thank you Long & McQuade Brampton Ontario Canada for steering me in the right Direction. ( Dan McNab you are Awesome!!! )

Ok, I am a music teacher by day and musician by night. For the longest time I've been looking for a portable amp or PA for my acoustic gigs, my students? recitals and also be able to use it as a backup/rehearsal amp to use with my electric guitar and modeling software. It also had to be portable, light, but loud enough for acoustic singer/songwriter gigs and student recitals. Well the BOSE S1 does it all and more. For most gigs you can simply plug and play and the volume at about 2 o?clock is more than enough. For much bigger rooms I use a Baggs Session DI for the extra gain and it can easily handle it with the knob at 10 o?clock. My electric pedal board weighs more than the BOSE! It's so light I can take it anywhere. Oh yeah it also has a line out so you can piggy back onto house PA systems if needed. This unit is unbelievable!

I bought 2 of these including the battery. I am very impressed how it perform live in our acoustic duo. My wife sing profesionally and she was blown away the crisp and clear sound. I rented the T1 tonematch and it works amazing I cannot wait for the T4s to come out...Highly recommend it for small venues.

As a busking speaker it is amazing. I would not use it for DJ work its really too small for that application. I used it at the Spitfire Arms Alehouse for a crown of about 40 give or take, and the speaker filled the room with out over driving or giving harsh sounds. I received several compliment on my guitar sounds, while I was at the ale house used the battery power exclusively, for the 3 hours, and it held up. I used the Bluetooth on it, very easy to set up. as a practice amp it works well.

I play Keyboard, do vocals. Rented it to try it out. Bought it after trying it out in a 9,000 sq. foot auditorium with 300 people. I used a stand, 3 ft. high. I used the same volume settings as my L-1 to start. Had to only increase volume values one more notch. My buddy, fellow musician checked the room, described penetration, clarity of vocals, bottom end of keyboard as "awesome". He is buying one today!. I said "maybe better, only because of the difference in weight and size.

This little PA has a big sound. I own the L1 Compact and L1 M2 and this little guy is perfect for audiences up to 50-60. I went to the Demo at the Pembina location in Winnipeg and returned on Tuesday to purchase it with the battery. This speaker has that refined Bose sound and is totally natural for vocals and acoustic guitar. The presets are very useful for dialing in the sound you want. I also tried it out with the T1 Digital Mixer and it sounds fantastic. And did I mention it's only 15lbs and also runs on a battery!

I went to a demo on Saturday when they released this at Long and McQuade. I was so impressed I returned a few days later and purchased the S1 Pro with the Battery. This unit is amazing...15 lbs and nothing but quality sound. As good as the Tonematch settings are, it sounds even better with the T1. I own the Compact and the L1M2 and this unit sounds fantastic for the smaller gigs & rooms with limited space. Buy it, you won't regret it!

For its size, this little speaker sounds very good - full and crisp. The Bluetooth works well and is handy. 3 channels yes, but the third is 1/8" and Bluetooth only, but has no tone controls. Great compact and light unit for solo guitarists with or without vocal for small coffeehouse type gigs. I found it a little too easy to clip with vocals, personally. Reverb is also a nice touch, but I think an extra channel would have been appreciated for acoustic duos (for example). For lower volume applications, this is a surprisingly competent little performer. Price is on the high side however, as are most things Bose. Makes a nice little unit to bring on the deck to blast some tunes too. A bigger 8 or 10" woofer would have made it a little better for small DJ type applications. The F1 812 tops are much better for this particular application however... Overall, a solid performing product considering its size and weight - but better used for less demanding applications as its small size would dictate.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
