Pork Pie Percussion may be best known for its cutting-edge kits, snares, and thrones over the past 30 years. But for the Hip Pig shell pack, founder Bill Detamore found himself chasing a different vibe altogether. The Hip Pig shell pack features classic rock–sized kick and tom shells built from eight plies of Eastern mahogany (nato wood) to supply the fat, full, smooth response of some of Bill's favorite vintage kits. And let us tell you: just feathering the kick or kissing the toms from behind the kit will be enough to rattle your sinuses clear. When it comes to visuals, the Pork Pie Hip Pig is equally impressive. Each shell sports a 1920s blue-to-silver Duco sparkle lacquer finish and comes outfitted with classic hardware, including center-mount beavertail lugs, gull wing bass spurs, and forked bass hoop claws. The 2.3mm triple-flanged hoops give toms in the Hip Pig shell pack a singing sustain and enough stiffness to maintain their tuning integrity on the road. Rounding out this shell pack is a special set of Hip Pig badges — complete with porcine beret and soul patch — and a matching front bass head decal.
