Aaron Brazeau is a versatile musician based in Vancouver who has been teaching Guitar, Piano and Voice lessons since 2016. Aaron completed his BMus in 2020 at VCC, where he studied guitar under Daryl Jahnke, piano under Sharon Minemoto, and voice in ensembles under Paula Kramer and Gerald Van Wyck. Aaron enjoys teaching and playing many different styles such as Pop, Rock, Jazz and more! Aaron's rate is $29 per half hour.

Alan Chiang is a Tenor at Chor Leoni and a well rounded worship musician at Northside Foursquare Church. He’s worked with beginner piano learners and managed Duly Noted (a local a cappella group) for a couple of years. He’s currenty studying voice under Dr. Jeanie Lovetri’s faculty member and working towards the Somatic Voicework Certificate. Alan's rate is $28 per half hour.

Ali Marsman has had a strong love and passion for playing and teaching piano for as far back as she can remember. Upon completing her studies at the British Columbia Conservatory of Music, she was finally able to fulfill her dream, and has been happily teaching for the past 10 years … although she did take a short break to publish a trio of books. Ali truly has a unique way of engaging students. She develops lesson plans and goals for each of her students, and with tremendous patience and care, she brings students to whichever goal(s) they wish to achieve in music. Along with teaching piano, Ali teaches music theory and as well as history, and is able to adapt to any ability, or disability that a student may have. She provides music therapy, and in 2008 developed a music and art therapy program for those diagnosed on the autism spectrum , and a wide range of other diagnosis ... most recently, she found a way to teach those who are hearing and visually impaired. Ali is certified Kelly Kirby Teacher; a wonderful program for children as young as 2.5 years old, where they develop the solid foundation needed to confidently move onto the next stages of music, but also uses this method for students of any age who need to learn at a slower pace due to cognitive issues. Ali's rate is $30 per half hour.

B has been passionate about percussion for the past ten years. She grew up listening to pop punk, rock and indie music. She took these styles with her when she began her percussive journey but punk beats are not all she can do. B studied music theory at Douglas College and has been teaching across the Lower Main land for the past two years. Here she found great joy and enthusiasm for teaching her craft. Her goal is to personalize each lesson to the student's learning style and goals along while making sure they leave inspired to keep moving forward with their instrument.

Bryan has been playing piano for as long as he can remember. He holds a degree in Jazz Performance from Humber College in Toronto and has been teaching and tutoring since the age of 15. He has spent several years playing on cruise ships; as part of Top 40 cover bands, as a music manager and director, and as a solo pianist. He has recorded 3 EPs of original music, and has played on many sessions for various projects. Bryan is excited to join the Long and McQuade team and share his passion for music with his students. Dan has over 30 years of experience teaching violin and 16 years experience performing in orchestras in South Africa and Europe. He has a Bachelor's of Music degree with honours from his native South Africa. While his preference is classical music, Dan enjoys teaching various styles as well as music theory and history. He welcomes students of all ages and abilities. His rate is $28 per half hour lesson.

Emmett graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Distinction, majoring in music. He specializes in teaching classical and contemporary piano as well as composition and theory. While Emmett enjoys teaching students of all ages and levels, he particularly enjoys helping advanced piano students to hone their skills. His rate is $29 per half hour.

Hailing from Quesnel BC, Erin Sutton is a classically trained soprano and teacher, and has her Bachelors of Applied Music degree from Vancouver Community College. Since coming to Vancouver, Erin has performed extensively both locally and throughout BC. Erin performs a broad range of classical repertoire and also enjoys exploring other genres, including pop, jazz, and musical theatre. In addition to performing, Erin is a dedicated and passionate instructor. She has experience teaching a wide range of ages and levels, and specializes in teaching Voice (of any genre), Musicianship, and Piano. Erin has a passion for using both solfège and singing as tools to help students deepen not only their love of music, but their understanding and fluency as well. Erin's rate is $28 per half hour.

Jasmine Moore is a classically trained flautist with experience playing baroque flute, piccolo, clarinet, and saxophone in various ensembles from chamber music to large ensembles throughout Vancouver and the Fraser Valley. She has a Bachelor of Music degree where she studied under Paolo Borolussi and Mark McGregor. She believes in creating a well-rounded musical experience for her students while allowing them to explore and grow within their own musical interests. Her rate is $30 per half hour.

John has a BMus in Composition from UBC, and a MMus in Scoring for TV, Video, Games, and Film from Berklee College of Music. He has been playing piano for over 21 years and has taught piano, composition and theory since 2014. When he's not teaching at Long & McQuade, John directs a choir, plays keyboard in an alternative band, and works as a film composer and orchestrator. Fluent in a variety of styles from jazz to classical, John enjoys the process of meeting people on their musical journey, and guiding them on their way to their goals. Jon Holisko is a professional drummer and drum teacher who has toured Europe, China, the Caribbean and North America with multiple bands. He studied Jazz music at Capilano University and holds a Bachelor of Jazz Performance on percussion. Jon plays regularly with singer songwriter Krystle Dos Santos, reggae cover band Mostly Marley, top 40s cover band TriloJay, and does session work with dozens of local and international artists. Jon has studied with a long list of music educators over the years and has a broad range of knowledge in many different styles of music including reggae, funk, jazz, hip hop, latin, afro cuban, rock, metal, r&b, electronic and world music. Jon also works in tv/film and most recently recorded a song for an ABC Television show titled When We Rise, and makes appearances on drums on the Netflix series Riverdale, and Legends of Tomorrow. Jon's rate is $28 per half hour.

Katherine Bonness received her Bachelor of Music in viola performance from the University of Manitoba and has studied violin, piano, theory, and composition privately. Katherine has performed in a wide variety of ensembles across Canada as a violinist and violist, from string quartets to orchestras. With over a decade of teaching experience, Katherine customizes her approach to each student, using various method books and supplementary material, while emphasizing solid foundational techniques and catering to the individual's musical interests to keep things fun! She can help students of all ages and levels prepare for anything from just learning for enjoyment, to mastering a specific piece, performing in recitals, auditions, preparing for RCM exams, and beyond to any other musical goals the student might have. Larry started playing guitar when he was 10 years old. He earned a music theory certificate from Trinity College of Music, London. He began touring at 17 and has been playing professionally ever since. He played bass with Canada’s legendary rock band Trooper for 6 years, earning gold and platinum records. He plays guitar, bass, and mandolin, and continues to perform in a variety of bands including classic rock, jazz, country and bluegrass. Larry has been teaching since 1992. His goal in teaching is to instill the necessary skills to inspire a lifelong love of music. His rate is $28 per half hour.

Lily (Haifei) Zhong is a classical vocalist with a Bachelor’s Degree from Kwantlen Polytechnic University, under the guidance of Dale Throness and Gail Suderman. She enjoys performing in ensembles and choruses, using various styles from classical to jazz to musical theatre. She also has experience working and connecting with students of all ages. Her goal for teaching is to create an ideal environment dedicated to students’ growth and nurture their passion for music. Lily's rate is $28 per half hour.

Luc Benoit is a local singer, storyteller and support worker from New Westminster, BC. His love of music started when he was 7 years old, when he joined a children's choir where he discovered how much he loved to sing. Since then, he joined as many choirs as he could during high school. Luc also participated in his high school concert bands and jazz bands, playing the tenor saxophone that was passed down from his father. Music has been something that has run in his family ever since he could remember. Typically, family gatherings involved almost everyone playing a guitar, microphones and amps and everyone would play and sing together as a way to cultivate bonds and connections. Luc's older brother, Brenden, used to teach at Long and McQuade and Luc has been studying his brother's teaching methods in piano and guitar. Luc has also been studying under one of Vancouver's best voice teachers, Billy Gollner, who has helped Luc understand the voice in new and expansive ways. Luc is so excited to embark in this new journey at Long and McQuade, helping those discover how music can be one of the best parts of the human experience. Luc's rate is $28 per half hour.

Lucas holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music in classical guitar from KPU, where he studied under Don Hlus. He has performing experience in a wide range of ensembles from a classical guitar trio, to jazz combo, and rock band. Lucas encourages his students to pursue the music that inspires them and to develop their own creativity. He greatly values playing music in an ensemble and gives his students the skills they need to feel comfortable playing in a group. His patient and relaxed personality create a safe environment, conducive to learning. Lucas welcomes students of all ages and skill levels and teaches all styles of music. Max Ley has been a pervasive figure in the BC music scene for over a decade, lending his deep pocket and smiling, warm presence to folk bands, indie rock artists, and even a 20 piece Jazz-Metal Big Band! Max has played hundreds of shows touring all across Canada and China and brings a lot of real world experience and insight to his lessons. After studying with famed drumset educator Dave Elitch in 2019, Max is inspired to instill a unique, healthy, and joyful relationship with the drums to all his students.

Ming-Xuan started his musical endeavours at the piano at the age of 6. He studied under the guidance of Josephine Koh and Low Shao Suan during his time in Singapore, eventually completing his LTCL in piano performance. He didn’t come to singing until he joined the Simon Fraser University Choir, completing his BSc with a minor in educational psychology at SFU. He discovered his passion for singing during his time in the UBC Summer Voice Workshop and has meticulously learned how to use his voice to suit various vocal styles. Ming-Xuan also regularly sings and performs with various local opera and musical theater companies. He is currently pursuing his MMUS in Opera Performance at UBC. As a pianist, he plays and sings for the Beacon Unitarian Church. Ming-Xuan has also had experience teaching the Music for Young Children (MYC) program, learning from his mentor, Charlene Dubrule. As a teacher, Ming-Xuan aims to foster a nurturing environment, equipping them with the necessary skills so that they may find joy and success in their music making. Ming's rate is $29 per half hour.

Munesh has over 10 years of professional touring and recording experience with well-known artists such as Hank Williams III and Strapping Young Lad, and seeks to pass on his knowledge gained from a successful and rewarding career as a live and studio drummer. He is proficient in a wide variety of styles, studied music at UBC, and excels at building up and encouraging new drummers. All ages, skill levels, and styles are welcome and encouraged. His rate is $29 per half hour.

Myles has been playing guitar since the age of 8, and has been an important member of our team of instructors since 2008. He is primarily a composer and guitarist with experience in performance and recording. Myles studied at the VCC School of Music, and ear training is a major focus of Myles' instructional approach. Richard studied violin and viola at the UVIC School of Music with Jaraslav Karlovsky, a former member of the Prague Quartet and Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. He continued his training as a performer and teacher at the Victoria Conservatory of Music where he received his AVCM under the tutelage of Sydney Humphreys. Richard is now happy devoting his energy to teaching his students at Long & McQuade. His rate is $30 per half hour.

Rita has a Bachelor's in Music from the University of Victoria and has studied with pianist Bruch Vogt. She also has her teacher's certificate from the Victoria Conservatory of Music and a certificate in Early Childhood Education. Robin is currently working on her bachelor’s degree in Jazz Studies at Capilano University, as well as her bachelor’s degree in psychology at SFU. She currently plays lead trumpet in Matt Grinke’s Happiest Big Band on Earth, the Leading Ladies Little-Big Band, and the Brentwood Jazz All-Stars. Robin has also performed at the TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival and the West Coast Big Band Festival with the ensemble Space Elevator. In addition to trumpet, Robin also plays French horn, trombone, and tuba. She is fluent in English, Dutch, and French. Her rate is $28 per half hour.

Roger Wecker has a music degree from Pepperdine University and was an itinerant band and strings teacher in North Vancouver until his retirement. He has conducted several choral and orchestral community groups including the White Rock Community Orchestra and the Greater Vancouver Operatic Society. Zack Brannon is a jack of all trades guitarist and solo artist whom since the age of 12 has always persisted in the pursuit of writing, studying, and practicing in all avenues of music genres and techniques. Since 2014 he has worked both as a private teacher and a live/studio session musician and graduated from VCC School of Music in Jazz/Contemporary Guitar. Zack is also incredibly experienced playing and running live shows in many different styles of bands along with his own solo projects. With all that said one of his favorite things above all is seeing his students succeed at their goals and making this crazy instrument feel like a new tool of expression. Zack's rate is $28 per half hour.
