With P-515, you can enjoy the exquisite beauty and sought-after tone of both the Yamaha CFX and Bsendorfer Imperial concert grand pianos.

With over 500 Voices, P-515 gives you a wide selection of sounds to choose from, making it the perfect tool to create and perform in any musical genre.

P-515 has a Natural Wood X(NWX) keyboard - created using the unrivaled expertise Yamaha has acquired through more than a century of crafting some of the world's finest acoustic pianos. This, combined with cutting-edge digital technology, makes for an authentic piano playing experience that only Yamaha can provide.

The elegant, yet compact and portable design makes P-515 an attractive addition to your home, and a reliable, eye-catching instrument on stage.

FEATURES

Two of the world's finest grand pianos
P-515 features piano sounds captured from Yamaha's flagship CFX concert grand and the famed Viennese Bosendorfer Imperial grand. These piano samples put two of the world's finest and most prominent concert grand pianos at your fingertips.

Completely natural sound
P-515 features two advanced technologies that allow you to enjoy exceptionally realistic, natural sound, even when listening through headphones: Binaural Sampling and Stereophonic Optimizer

Natural Wood X (NWX) keyboard - the feel of an acoustic grand piano
The NWX keyboard found in P-515 features white keys made from only the best quality wood and topped with synthetic ivory. The black keys are finished in textured synthetic ebony. Furthermore, this keyboard features the true feel of the escapement mechanism found in a grand piano which the hammers away from the strings quickly after they strike them, in order to prevent any interference with string vibration.

Enhanced Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM)
P-515 is able to calculate the various states of the strings for each of the 88 notes of concert grand from one instant to the next. Enhanced VRM also calculates aliquot resonance in the upper octaves, and the full resonance of the soundboard, rim, and frame. This technology allows for vivid, bright, richly varied expression that reflects the limitless number of factors inherent in piano performance.

Aliquot is a stringing method for pianos that uses extra, un-struck strings in the upper octaves to enhance the tone. These strings sympathetically vibrate with other strings in an acoustic piano, resonating with overtones, and adding richness, brilliance and complex colour to the sound. Since they do not have a damper, they will continue sounding even after you release your hands from the keyboard.

Powerful onboard speaker system
P-515 features 15w + 5w amplifiers along with 2 way speaker system which provides an immersive, authentic piano experience with astonishing clarity.

P-515 also features a Twisted Flare Bass Port, Yamaha's technology that offers a clear and precise bass sound. The flared and gently twisted shape evenly diffuses the air flow through the port. Compared to a conventional port, the Twisted Flare Port reduces air turbulence noise, resulting in clear and accurate low frequency reproduction.

Customising the Sound and the Touch Response of Piano Voices (Piano Room)
The Piano Room function is for those who want to simply, conveniently, and fully enjoy playing the instrument as a piano. No matter what settings for Voice etc. you've made, you can instantly call up the optimum settings for piano performance with a single button press. Try creating a custom piano sound by adjusting the various parameters such as lid position, string resonance, damper resonance, touch response and so on.

In addition to Piano Room, applying on board effects such as reverb, chorus and various effects gives you greater and richer expressive capability.

Playing the piano along with Rhythm Playback
The P-515 comes complete with forty different and simple rhythm patterns (drums and bass accompaniment) that are perfectly suited to many types of music , letting you spice up your performance with some backing musicians, make practice more interesting, or open up your creative flow with inspiring new ideas.

Simple operation using the Smart Pianist app!
Yamaha's "Smart Pianist" app allows you to control the many functions included in Yamaha digital pianos with your iOS device. Voices, rhythms and other settings can be selected right from the touch screen, making it even easier to get what you want from your P-515. You can also save your favourite settings for quick recall at any time. Smart Pianist can even access the songs in your iOS device's music library and create a chord chart for you, so you can play along with recordings of your personal favourite songs.

Bluetooth audio for wireless listening
Connect your music player via Bluetooth and instantly turn your P-515 into a high-quality speaker system to listen to your favourite songs through.

I purchased this keyboard a few weeks ago. It has a gorgeous sound and I love the action, I know some people say it’s too heavy but that’s what strengthens the fingers. In reading the owners manual I found out that this keyboard also comes with a music book that matches some of the demo songs. I had not received the book with my piano so I phoned Long and McQuade they came over to my house and personally delivered it to me. I thought that was superb service. I used to own a p-45 and that was good but this piano is amazing. I can’t stay away from it. I probably practice on average 4 to 5 hours a day now. I’ve listened to Roland’s flagship portable and Kawaii’s but the Yamaha is the best to my ears, though buying a piano is very much based on personal preference and those pianos are very good but the Yamaha is beautiful. It hooks up to Bluetooth and usb to my iPad very well. I love it. Definitely would recommend it, if you’re on the fence. This is a piano that I plan on having for decades.

This is a great digital piano. The main sounds (Yamaha CFX and Bosendorfer) are fantastic and the reason to buy the piano. They are excellent for practice and of a very high quality. The other sounds are good as well. The best of the other sounds are the organ, strings, and sounds of the guitar. The speakers are fine though they lack bass and thus you can't feel the music like you can from an acoustic piano. This is easy to fix with a pair of monitor or bookshelf speakers. The piano will utilize the monitor speakers as well as the onboard speakers creating an amazing sound. This is the setup that I use currently. This is a great practice piano that I use to supplement an acoustic. It sounds great and is fun to play. The keys are not too heavy. This is the biggest complaint against this instrument. For anyone who complains about the keys being too heavy or saying they are fatigued after playing for more than 10 min, buy this piano and get stronger finger control. It is not too heavy, I play it a minimum of two hours a day. Of course my fingers and forearms are sore after, but when I play another piano I can fly across the keys. This is a practice piano after all, it's designed to make you tough. Buying a piano with a light action will not help you gain strength, dexterity, or endurance and your playing will suffer. So go ahead and buy this piano and in six months of solid practice you will be a better and stronger player.

how to describe the P-515. the keyboard touch with the very subtle escapement..... give it a feel so close to an acoustic piano.. if you played it blindfold.. you may not be able to tell.. along with the very subtle texture on the black keys make accidentals easier to play... and the killer..... the sound.. the tone.... the bass notes resonate in a way that you can almost feel the cabinet and the strings vibrate..... people complain that the key touch is heavy..... but so is a new grand piano.... and the short of being a hybrid or an actual acoustic, this is one of the best keyboard/piano's for the price. the main Piano voices. the CFX Grand is beautiful, and has amazing resonance..... the bosendorfer is mellower, and rich, The studio grand is bold...... along with access to several hundred other sounds/voices....including the XG library of sounds..... all of this and the ability to multi track record..... combine this with the Smart Pianist app... which simplifies customization in any way you wish.... bottom line.. the p-515 is a beautiful, amazing instrument.. that emphasizes the piano experience.. with a whole lot of amazing along with that experience.

I bought this piano a couple of months ago. My major criteria included portability, and sound and feel of a real acoustic piano. I looked at a number of on-line reviews, and tried a few different pianos at the store and opted for this one. This piano has a lot of sounds and features that I will probably never use, but overall, it offers a very realistic playing experience in a truly portable format. After playing on a real acoustic piano for many years, I find weighted digital keyboards in general offer a slightly different touch than the mechanical action of an acoustic piano, but in comparison to other digital pianos in its class, the P-515 has a very good touch and feel. The single sustain pedal provided with the piano is good, though once again, the response is a little different than what I am used to on an acoustic. IMO, the default CFX sound engine is the most realistic of all the sounds provided. Through the on-board speakers, I find the mid-range of the keyboard somewhat electronic-y in sound quality, while the top-end is better, and the bass register is excellent. Through headphones, the CFX sound in particular is excellent throughout all registers, and the Bosendorfer sound is pretty good as well. After reading a number of reviews, I also purchased the Sennheiser HD 280 Pro headphones, which provide excellent sound quality, and I prefer to play with the headphones on for the sound quality.

I spent a happy hour at the Lethbridge Store exploring this astounding piece of music technology. I have owned MANY Yamaha instruments. One in particular is over 40 years old and none have failed me. Over the 58 years since I started playing music I have periodically bumped into the limits of technology. That did not happen with the P 515. I could see new places I could go with my music, unfettered by any technological limits. Exciting. If you try this piano, wherever you are, be sure to take along a REALLY good set of pro studio headphones. I did and they shut out the usual store noise background. The P 515 can be as subtle as your dreams or as loud and on point as a prairie thunder storm. Make sure you get to hear everything you can finally do!

If you are looking for a mid priced relatively portable digital keyboard that offers the feel of a real grand piano, this is worth considering. Its wooden keys provides a realistic touch and feel similar a real acoustic piano far superior to plastic keys. Check out the Smart Pianist app. It is a great feature of this keyboard. While the grand pianos sound fantastic through quality headphones, Yamaha has let us down by installing cheap speakers that diminish the sound quality of the great grand piano samples. So much so, that it is a deal breaker for me at this price point.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
