No regrets at all with this guitar. It may be the entry level Gibson, but it's a Les Paul and sounds great and I love the neck. I rented it for several months before I bought it outright. Thanks to Thomas at the Kingston store.

I was looking at this because I wanted just a Les Paul, no coil taps or phase switching, just wood, strings, and pickups. It's super nice and easy to play.

Bought this guitar recently from L&M. It is very playable and sounds great! The neck finish is not sticky, but is very smooth. The frets are perfect too. The scale length is very comfortable to play on, and it holds tune really well.

so I do my Business at my L&M store in Laval and their awesome highly recommend going !! so for a long time I've always wanted to own a Gibson les paul cuz of the history between ginseng and mr les Paul and I was never able to really afford one due to how expensive they are and was at the store with a friend just looking around during rocktober fest and I found this Gibson les paul on special from $1649 -$1280 so ya really good deal. I started to rent it out for a month just to see how I feel about it and after my rental was over I was blown away how good it felt to actually have a Gibson les paul in my possession and decided to buy it (finance) and the fact they keep and hold their value is mind blowing. you save a lot of money with the finance and im very happy. the Gibson fits well with a lot of different music styles which I like and to actually own a Gibson is kind of like an opportunity because at this price can't go wrong because it's a Gibson Les Paul

This is a great guitar for the price. I bought mine a few years ago and have loved playing it. Mine was a "factory 2nd" although no one at the store could say why exactly. But at $850 it was a deal! They have really increased in price in the past 5 years!
I had an Epiphone Les Paul which had the thicker neck and Seymour Duncan pickups. It was a Goldtop and heavier. I enjoyed playing it but did not like the neck. When I picked up this LP I loved the much thinner neck and it is 'weight reduced' so really a perfect combination.
I also love the pickups. They give you a nice 'chunky' sound which can be quite 'bell like' with the middle position. It is always a lot of fun to play so I love it!
Yes, the frets were terrible. So I paid $100 and had my guitar tech friend set it all up. He smoothed out the fret edges and set it up in tune and it was perfect! A few years later he fixed the strap button close to the neck which is in a weird position and kept coming undone.
When first buying, I played this alongside a $3300 LP and preferred this sound and playability. I love the wood grain so it is kind of a "natural gold top" and it's cool there is no poker chip to tell me what lead and rhythm mean.
It has certainly increased in price since I got mine, but I think it is a great 'basic' Les Paul. I've never been that excited about the push/pull options for fake single coil because they never sound very good. The Tribute rocks!

For the comment with the title ... A relationship with a small problem... there is a washer/gasket inside the pick up switch to make it tighter without. You just need to unscrew it from the inside and you will have enough space. Good luck !

Would recommend trying as many of these as you can before buying. I had to try at least 6 before finding one without either rough frets or VERY noticeable/infuriating static interference due to poor shielding in pots. Kind of questionable how some of these get out of the factory. That being said, when you find that one, its a real treat to play. Great Gibson sound, very happy I hung in there to find a good one.

Bought this Gibson month Nov 2021. This is an instant classic and a valuable instrument for the player looking to get into entry level high end guitars. I went in the store that day thinking I was going to go home with the Epiphone Inspired by Gibson ES-335/DOT. I picked this up and knew that Gibson had upped their game on the cheaper Made in USA guitars. I had owned a Gibby SGJ (MiU) that I bought used from a store in ON for $500 and was curious to see what Gibson had produced since the LPJ/SGJ lineup. What can I say that hasn't already been said? Features: These pickups are hot, best played with the volume knob turned down a tad to avoid high gain, unless you want those tones. I am running it through a Vox MV50 Clean and an Orange 1x8 speaker. The gig bag is premo for sure, the only gripe I have with it is that it has the sling style strap – I prefer the backpack style double straps. The hollowing makes it easy to hold/play and is a lighter than my Ash Strat. Quality: Not a flaw on the body but the head has a small flaw under the sixth string behind the nut. Wish I had seen it before the 30 days was up because I would have traded it for the Honey colour, much prefer that colour since seeing it. Value: Cannot beat the tone and value for this guitar. Overall: Satisfied with this guitar and will keep it for many years. Barebones LP for a great price!

I have had this guitar for about 5 weeks now and I do really love the tones I can get from it. I haven't recorded with it yet but I have played several gigs. The 490 pickups are perfect for what I need. Versatile enough to play every song in my set. The only drawback is the fret work leaves a lot to be desired. The frets are rough and definitely need to be dressed properly. I have picked up a few since I got mine and this seems to be inconsistent. SOme have great frets and some do not. Gibson needs to work on this or L&M needs to be checking this before they guitar leaves the store.

I am mainly a Fender guy. I own 2 custom shop, a tele and a strat as well as a brad paisley road worn silver tele.
In the past I've owned les paul R7 and a traditional gold top. However my humbucker needs aren't as much as playing single coil. But I wanted a humbucker guitar for certain songs on stage and to play around with at home but not a big investment in a gibson custom shop or even a standard. I love how understated the finish is as it fits in nicely next to my journey man relic custom shops and the road worn. Don't want to pretty an LP upstaging my fenders. The maple neck with very thin finish feels great (even better than my custom shops) I think I got lucky with mine as the action is very low and buzz free. The frets are very smooth with no sharp edges. Very light for an LP. All these are bonuses for me. Its a very clear, articulate tone. Its got some brightness to it that has a nice snap, reminiscent to my Fenders. A bonus for me. I think this is the first guitar with a factory setup that I have not had to adjust or have set up at all. I like very low action and usually factory setups aren't good enough for me but this one is.
And 2 bonuses, I got this one right out of the box, so I'm the first to touch it. Beautiful honeyburst finish. Looks almost like a goldtop that faded. And the second bonus, I guess because its Gibson month it was on special for $1,499 instead of $1,599

First and foremost - a huge shout out to Lilith at L&M in Sydney, NS for over the top service (as always)🤘🤘 I've owned and played other Les Paul guitars. 1973, Standard, Faded, Ultimate and Studios and they were great but I love this guitar. Ive always felt like you have to bond with your instrument and this was instant. I haven't done anything to it. Bought it, took it home and plugged it in. I love it. I love the simplicity, playability and tones. I feel like this us the perfect gigging guitar for an old blues-rock guy like me.

I love the guitar. I can't rationalize buying a Standard or Custom, but I got the Tribute off demo and with one buckle scratch in the back it was a very good deal.
The guitar is well-constructed with good attention to detail - eg, all the glued seams are tightly set and clean, the finish is even, frets are good all the way up the neck. This particular guitar needed a bit of setup to get the action down a bit without buzzing but that may be a function of its having been a demo.
The pickups are great and highly versatile. The bridge is punchy without being too harsh and the neck has amazing mids. With the tone rolled off a bit the neck gives a great jazz tone.
Features are as advertised - nothing fancy, just your typical LP design and controls. The soft case is nice although the Gibson case candy was a bit of a let-down; there's a cheesy strap that looks and feels like it cost $10.
This is my destination LP - I don't plan on replacing or "upgrading" it as I can't imagine how a more expensive LP could play or sound better.

After deciding to get a HH Les Paul to add to my Strat, I decided to get the Epiphone Slash edition since the Gibson equivalent was 3 times the price and Epiphone sounded amazing (until I heard the Gibson equivalent), but when I came to the store the Epiphone's neck was so sticky and was barely playable. Setup was really bad. Then I saw this beauty and for the price it's a steal. Spoiler alert I used to have a Gibson Les Paul Faded which was very close to this and I sold it and deeply regretted so I wanted to fix that mistake. This guitar is even better than that. The thin layer of nitro and satin finish are marvelous to look at, play on and even smell haha. The guitar not only sounds like the heavens are opening up when you strum some power cords, but it plays incredibly well and really easily to my surprise. That's where the difference is between a Gibson and an Epiphone, they may both look the same in photos but trust me the Gibson plays far better and DEFINITELY sounds better, despite all the hate they get online from people that don't see the value. The cleans are so rich and warm that it will make you cry. The humbuckers have a LOT of juice in them, so when you play a clean amp like a Fender on max guitar volume, it will distort (on my strat it would always stay clean). You'll have to dial the volume knob down for a clean. I'm not a professional musician and I usually get cheaper guitars below $1,000 and usually they're really good but when you try a Gibson, your definition of good changes. All of a sudden my (HEAVILY modified) Squire Classic Vibe 50s strat "just ain't cuttin' it no mo' ". In fact none of my past guitars like Ibanez, Epiphones, Squiers and even custom made Warmoth cut it at all. This guitar blows them all out of the water, and it looks bleepin' fantastic. Even my girlfriend who knows nothing about guitar when she heard this from the other side of the house approached me and said this guitar sounds much better than all my other ones, and I didn't even ask her what she thought! I don't have a trained ear neither but I can easily tell this is a REAL instrument that sounds LEGIT. Trust me on this - spend the real money on a real instrument and you will be happy. Or spend less on a lesser instrument and you'll feel like you've wasted your money. It's the same when I was buying a laptop and went for a MacBook Pro that cost double of the windows laptops - those windows ones felt like trash and I'm super happy with the Mac even if it cost double the price; it was darn well worth it. Now I feel those other cheaper guitars are "practice" guitars kind of like a practice amplifier compared to a real tube amp. If you always wanted a real Les Paul, don't even think about it. Get it while you can.

Guitar looks and sounds good. Problems are many. Static thru amp if you move guitar around while you play that's coming from back cavity covers. It's documented just check YouTube. The action on mine is very high even after 2 pro setups by certified Gibson tech. Also the strings bite HARD into the back of the bridge between bridge and tailpiece. Even with tail piece raised almost as high as she goes. If you " HAVE" to get a Gibson Les Paul save a while longer and get at least the Studio. It's 10x better than this thing. And just a heads up I'm not a newbie that doesn't know what's up with a " good guitar" I've been playing since 1975. I can't recommend this to others as I can't begin to express how disappointing this guitar is.

Thank you to Long & McQuade for thier patience in getting me to this guitar. My first electric and tried 3 Les Paul’s to get to this one. Just simple, plain and really well done Gibson. Measured weight is 7.99lbs so is manageable for me and I like the scale length and body size. The fit and finish is excelent and the sound is Les Paul. Very good value.

As a Strat person, I was a touch hesitant in expanding to include Gibson. I played it when I got home and adjusted my amplifier appropriately as well as a few little adjustments on the guitar. In the end, it sounded great, excellent quality and all at a reasonable price. There is however one irritating little situation. Gibson supplies the little plastic ring to go under the pickup switch. Unfortunately, the plastic ring will not fit under the switch. Either the switch requires a longer body or the hole it fits in must be deeper. In a way, it's just missing that tiny piece that to me, makes a Gibson a Gibson.

I just bought this during Gibson month October 2020, Great deal with 0% interest for 12 months. Anyway, I had a Les Paul before but not Gibson. I hate the heaviness of the standard LP the weight puts me off and it give me back pain after long playing standing with it. I tried this one, and it has amazing tone, resonance and sustain. The weight is like strat, not bad at all. This is just plane and simple Gibson USA Les Paul guitar. One of my favourite guitar now. The only cons is the fret is not as smooth as the higher price one. I just used pile and now it is fine.

I have owned this guitar in satin cherry burst for 10 days and I am in love with it. It is so comfortable to play. Plugging it into my amp I don’t notice any noise or feedback. Take the Les Paul studio which is a beautiful guitar too, take away the nitro finish and save yourself a few hundred dollars. The tribute series is awesome. The soft case included with this guitar is deluxe, the lining and leather exterior are outstanding. The folks at the Vancouver location always have something perfect for me.

I'll start off by saying that I'm a Fender guy and in my 28 years of playing, I've played very few Gibson guitars. They always felt really foreign to me as most had chunky necks that were hard for me to get used to. I did know that there was a tone in there that was magical so always wanted one for my collection. The Tribute line seemed like the best bang for the buck in that it had the guts of the classic LP's but without all the extra adornments which I didn't need. I prefer satin finishes over gloss and while the binding is nice, I felt the way they did the maple top on this model had a binding-like feel to not miss it. Knowing that Gibson has had a string of "bad years", it seemed that they were on the up and up and getting a 2019 model wasn't nearly as risky as it was in the recent years before that. I called the nearest music shop that had one in stock, located 45 mins from me, but due to COVID-19 I couldn't play it first. I had a 30 day window to return. Due to the circumstances, I bought it and took it home having never played it or giving it a once over. L&M assured me that it was "loosely" set up and had no sharp frets etc. I got it home and immediately discovered it was the most unplayable guitar I had ever played. Action was brutally high, the truss rod was way off, the pots crackled, the frets were sharp, etc. I could go on. I have no idea how L&M allowed this model to hit the sales floor like this and assume that while it could have been ok leaving the Gibson factory, the trip and climate changes may have pronounced the issue with the sharp frets but the overall setup should've been taken care of by L&M. It was a beautiful looking guitar and had no finishing defects so I made my mind up to pay for a setup by someone locally I trusted. If I still didn't like it, it was going back. I got the guitar back post setup and it was a night and day difference. It took a little getting used to coming off of my Fenders, but the neck is far from chunky as I had previously experienced on older LP's. It won me over rather quickly and I absolutely LOVE this guitar now. The tones are far darker than my Fenders so I need to re-EQ my amp a bit but the tones are ever so sweet. Everyone who's heard me play it comment on how nice it sounds. It was very close to going back based on L&M's lack of attention to detail, but I'm glad I kept it as it now plays as nice as it looks and sounds.

It’s a Gibson, so if you get the guy in the factory doing his job you’ll get a solid guitar. I lucked out. The 490 pickups are decent and if you don’t care about flashy finish on your guitar the tribute is perfect.

Very disappointed with this guitar. Sharp frets higher up the neck. All the pots as well as the switch are noisy.. Bridge pickup is not parallel to strings, one end of the pickup almost touches the strings and the other end is about 1/8 inch away. I don't think there is any quality control at Gibson. You get a nice picture of the guitar on the bench, but the guy probably just takes the picture and puts it in the case as is. Buy a Godin for $500.less and get high quality and great sounding guitar. My first and last Gibson.

This is only my second new Gibson purchase, my first being the 2018 Les Paul BFG P90. I am not disappointed in any way. I opted for the Satin Tobacco Burst, the exposed Maple cap makes for a nice natural looking binding along the edge of the body. It plays GREAT, after a professional set-up, it's the best playing and sounding guitar I've ever owned after 30 years of playing. I love the 490 pickups, they clean up nicely but can get as dirty as you want. The maple neck feels just chunky enough, and the whole guitar weighs in at 9 lbs. This one's a keeper.

I have had this for a year now. It seems it is just breaking in. I am very impressed with the build quality and overall sound. I love the sound of these pickups, they just work with this guitar. They have a snappy tone to them, a mid range bump with good note definition, which I like. The top looks cool with a nice grain. The mahogany body on mine is one piece. The maple cap is 2. I had to do some tweaking to this guitar to set it up the way I like. Once I dialed it in, oh man, this thing plays so nice. I have a 74 es 335 which is a gem. This holds its own along side it. I would not hesitate to tell someone to buy one. Not as flashy as a Standard, but looks great and is very playable. I've used it at gigs and I've recorded with it. Pro guitar. Try as many out as you can and then buy one. You can't go wrong.

I bought this at Long & McQuade in Dartmouth this year. The touch is very smooth. The sound is great at any volume and with any music genre. Tone, and volume controls are easy to work with. PU selector switch functions as it’s supposed to. Pick ups truly deliver that great Gibson sound. The finish is excellent. Overall an excellent guitar for Blues, rock and even country. I love it. I also own 2 Fenders so this baby gives me more versatility. L&M Dartmouth were as always very helpful and professional assisting me in choosing the right guitar for my music genre and skill level.

It took Gibson to hit almost bottom, people's perception, to manufacturer a quality build. For the cost this instrument is wonderful. No frills just the basics but well made, old school. Set-up out of the box, playable. Sound, what are you plugging it into? All great. Me, I love the neck. lastly, most important, it stay's in tune! imagine that. Jake and all the staff at Brantford, awesome!

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
