GK's RB Series bass amplifiers have been setting the standard for over two decades. Inside these compact, lightweight "super structures" is the most advanced bass circuitry available. In 1972, Bob Gallien developed what he calls G.I.V.E. Technology (Gate Induced Valve Effect). This 'valve effect' is integrated into the design of all RB Series heads and is part of what gives them their distinct sound. The RB Series heads deliver a warm, punchy tone with a fast transient response that not only sounds better, it feels better. GK's renowned voicing filters and intuitive four band active EQ make it simple to dial in a great sound. Everyday thousands of players around the world in arenas, clubs and basements plug into GK heads because they love that sound.

I bought this a the heart of my big rig (I have club, and jazz rigs) I use it with two GK neo 12's and it will move enough air for a big stage. Outdoors I'll drop it on a 4x10. This thing is loud! Much louder than similar powered amps I've tried. It's also heavy for it's size, and seems to be built like a tank. It's built on the RB platform which has been around for years, and is well road tested. The sound is phenomenal- big round bottom, clarity, crispness...did I say it's insanely loud? It's bi-amped, so the drive conrol does NOT overdrive the top end, helping reduce blown drivers. It's made in the U.S.A.! If you're looking for a dream rig/concert rig- put this one in the running.

I've owned so many amps I can't even think to list them all. My first experience with GK was the 400rb. Loved it so much I went up to the 700, then the 1001 rb when I needed more head room with power. I have powered an 8x10 Traynor cabinet with this thing and it doesn't even bat a lash. The amount of power and tone that you get with this head is unparalleled. My favourite set up so far is my current set up which is the 1001rb with the Traynor TC410 cabinet. So much power, so much clarity and bottom end. If you play in a band that plays often, don't waste your time with in-between amps. That would be my advice. Spend the $1100 on the 1001 rb and never look back. Don't waste your time with all the small block heads or whatever. Just go for it, you'll never regret buying this work horse!

I picked up the 1001 RB-ll in December of 2015 as a xmas gift to myself :P I originally had the Ampeg SVT 3 PRO head, which was completely fine at doing its job, but I have always been curious about GK and started to dive into some research behind these heads. MAN I am glad I did. This monster packs a serious punch of over 700 watts, has a ton of room to find your preferred tone, and is solid state!!! When I first got into music, I thought it was tube amps or bust... which I quickly learned (mostly because I am a broke musician looking for the cheapest option) that was not true. This head proves it, and I can honestly never see myself buying another tube amp again. And for those scared about losing that tube tone, I also run this head with a Sans Amp GT2 tube amp emulator pedal which just brings the whole picture together. If you are looking for a reliable, powerful, and affordable bass head, buy this. You will not regret it.

I bought this because my Tour 700 killed itself, really - jumped off stage because it did not have little rubber feet to keep it in place like the 1001RB does. I was expecting it to perform in the same range as the late 700, and was surprised. Upon pressing the power button, the lights in my home dimmed for half a second because of the huge power draw this thing has, and I was knocking pictures off walls at 25% volume with a single 410. I couldn't do that with the Tour 700. Paired with a 410 and a 115, the comfort level of stage volume is the limit, I guess. I've knocked over a couple drinks near the stage, and pushed papers off music stands. I've also had gain-happy guitar players telling me they cannot hear themselves. I can't hear what the boost knob does in terms of color, other than add more volume, maybe I'm not using it right. But, hey! More volume is a-o-effin-kay with me. =] So, yeah. 700 watts that sounds a bit like 1000, solid as a house, and not too heavy. The EQ is great, the contour and presence knobs are my guilty pleasures. The boost knob is like a third volume control. The "5 string" mode boosts the 20Hz range, and enabled with full contour? Awesome. I haven't had a chance to try the bi-amp thing, but I feel you wouldn't need it if you adjust the EQ right. You won't need the help of a PA system for smaller gigs. My only problems with it are the effects loop and tuner output being on the front for whatever reason, and the tiny as heck tuner mute button that could have been relocated as a pedal, or something. The price was a little much, but this should be the last amp head you'll buy, until your strength diminishes with age and you need to downsize. If you have a grand to get a new amp, I would say this one. Well met, GK. You've made a friend. d(~_\)

Excellent value for pro sound. Sound as good as tube with way better response, seriously! Active eq is simple and makes a realistic tonal differances. Gain staging like tube, drive like tube with out the size and weight. Headroom to spare and good all varieties of styles. Have used with acoustic right up to Warwick and never been let down. DI out is also flexible and sounds way better than most engineers expect. The bi-amping workd great but wish the hi was a bit more powerful. Also wish the send/returns were rear mounted and final wish is why no footswitch for tuner mute or boost like oldschool RB? Otherwise I am considering buying a smaller 700 or 400 for smaller rig/practice.

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
