A Tighter, Meaner Recto
Delivering a sonic and weight profile that's a bit more trim, the Rectifier Badlander 50 holds its own while adding a distinct tonal character to the Badlander Series. Even more aggressive sounding, yet with an inviting, effortless feel, it's buffed and ready to go places where less output power is the call.

Two identical Channels feature the same 3 new dynamic and duplicated Modes as its 100-Watt counterpart. CLEAN, CRUNCH and CRUSH repeated supply the gain, shaping power and an urgent personality to navigate most ensemble and virtually any recording environments.

Here in the Badlander 50, the 2-Channei preamp hooks up with two different and perfect power displacements that enhance everything from clean to clipped to wildly saturated. The 50 Watt setting delivers bold authority and the highest headroom while the 20-watt setting finds the power tubes re-wired for Triode operation that unveils greater clipping potential and a mid-scooped, harmonic-laden response that reveals trademark EL34 Tone.

A Unique Sonic Profile with Crushing Character
Sometimes less is more, and if that's your mantra, the Badlander 50 is a perfect fit. Weighing-in at considerably less, there are physical considerations at play for sure. Yet the Middleweight contender in the Badlander Family has its own story to tell when it comes to defiant attitude and a rebellious nature. Some feel there is a unique benefit to lower wattage amplifiers, often described as a sense that top end travels more freely and quickly through the circuit. While perhaps a bit over-simplified, truth be told the Badlander in 50 Watt form does display that characteristic along with it's bouncy, easy to play nature.

CabClone IR with 8 Mesa Virtual Cabinets On Board
The Badlander 50 is also the recordists dream realized. It features our first onboard CabClone IR and it delivers seamless DI with Channel Specific IR Assignment of the 8 virtual Cabinets and a Reactive Load that sounds and feels great. Together with the new sounds and the 50's clip-friendly power range, the most versatile and recordable Recto ever is created, even in "silent mode" when you can't use your favorite cabinet!

The CabClone IR delivers newfound flexibility, portability and previously only dreamed of convenience. You now have the ability to go direct silently or with your cab, for recording, stage or headphone practicing with instant access to 8 real MESA cabinets mic'd in a Pro Environment and library storage for more. It really doesn't get any better in terms of having consistent tone from venue to venue, with or without a speaker cabinet, your choice.

The built-in, channel assignable CabClone IR Virtual Cabinet Simulator & Reactive Amp Load comes preloaded with the following 8 Authentic MESA Virtual Cabinet IRs including:

4x12 Rectifier Standard (closed back)
4x12 Rectifier Traditional (closed back)
2x12 Rectifier Horizontal (closed back)
1x12 Rectifier (closed back)
1x12 Thiele (closed back, front ported)
2x12 Lone Star (open back)
1x12 Lone Star 23 (open back)
1x12 California Tweed 23 (open back)

Multi-Watt - 50 or 20 Watts at the Switch
The Badlander 50 features our patented Multi-Watt Power Switch that offers two wattage settings; A FULL power 50 watts running both EL34s and a HALF power setting reconfigured for Triode wiring producing 20 Watts of clip-able sweetness that also runs the pair of output tubes. Each has its own set of benefits and character and together they provide almost limitless possibilities when you consider the pairings with the available preamp Modes, their gain structures and dial-able sounds.

Evolution of Recto Tone
If you're into big, menacing Tone, but don't need the power or the weight of a classic 100-Watt-er, we invite you to check out what 50 years designing and building high performance Tube Amps can serve up in the 50 watt range . From Clean and Crunch on to Modern Era Heavy, experience the Badlander 50 and our latest evolution of Recto tone. It's a Rectifier at its core, but not the Recto you know.

Product Experience   I own it

So I've been looking to get a Mesa rectifier for awhile now. I was going to buy a used Rec but prices are fairly high for an older amp which has been out for many years. I also considered a used mini rec which are great amps but I decided to wait. I started seeing Mesa came out with the badlander which was a spin off and update on a rectifier. I tested one in store and was quite impressed with the varied tones you could get out of this amp. I decided to purchase one and am very happy with this amp. It can go from very clean to high gain lead. My only wish is that you could access the 3 different modes ,as it is you pick 2 and go from there but all the modes have something great to offer. Even with the clean gain full it gets a nice crunch tone. The amp responds well to rolling off the volume on my guitar to clean things up. This amp is not a one trick pony and not only for metal. I play rock, new country etc..and this amp delivers well. You get that rectifier sound but I feel this amp is a positive improvement on the Rec sound . I'd highly recommend this amp for any player that needs different sounds from one amp. I gave the value a 4 only because Mesa amps are not cheap but they are build extremely well. Also a thumbs up to Brandon at Vaudreuil-Dorion for his amazing service !

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
