This is my second DGX keyboard having upgraded from the DGX 660. I use this keyboard both for my solo shows and 2 piece band shows and the versatility and features is invaluable. I've searched high and low for a more expensive keyboard that has all of the arrangements and the DGX 670 is a stand alone in this category. I would recommend this for people looking to learn to play piano and for old gigging musicians like myself that don't want to bring a total band or drummer with me to play in local pubs. The one minor concern I would raise is I've had trouble saving my settings. I found the 660 easier in that way. You can't have everything but for the price point and Yamaha quality, this is a must have!

I bought this for recording direct, and for practising with headphones. It is great for these uses. Great sounds, great bells and whistles for the money. But once you play it through the speakers the fun stops. They are extremely woofy and boomy, ESPECIALLY on the piano sounds. You can make it less bad with EQing but you can't make it good. Because of this I would not recommend it for use as a stand alone home piano

I have played on many acoustic upright and grand pianos as well as stage pianos, keyboards and workstations. The YAMAHA touch is fantastic on these P series and DGX series pianos. Excellent repetition and control of dynamics are found in this keybed. The sound samples are simply outstanding as Yamaha used the best pianos and other instruments beautifully sampled , ready to play in the DGX 670 library of multiple sounds, combinations and layers of sound. The DGX is simple to navigate through all the menus on the colour screen. Yamaha DGX 670 = Five Stars *****

I upgraded from a Casio WX-6600 to the Yamaha DGX-670 and all I can say is wow... the "Super Articulation" voices are out of this world!! The built in rhythms are also fun and intuitive and there are a ton of pro grade features to explore.
At this price point, the keys have a nice solid, weighted feel but are not quite as polished as what you will find on the top level digital pianos costing much more. That said, it is a very reasonable compromise.
There are a good selection of DX7 type digital electric piano sounds but my only complaint with the 670 is that there not nearly enough early EP tones (Wurly & Rhoads). This unit would be well served with an update to add more vintage EP tones. That said, I use it to trigger my Roland Juno Di which has a lot of EP patches so problem solved...
Huge value for the money and with a ton of real time performance features this piano makes it easy to sound a lot better then you really are. lol
I love it.

Just love the way it brings the creativity in me. I play a lot of movie themed tunes and it is amazing. I have a lot of keyboards and the piano sounds are so beautiful and the string section is very dynamic just like the way most theme songs should sound. It very heavy but the speakers sound is unbelievable. I think they use y series’s monitor speakers in them. The best sounding and versatile keyboard I have ever had.

I recently traded in my acoustic piano for this keyboard. I wasn’t paying much attention to my acoustic and dreaded the day I had to move it. So when I sold it, I bought this DGX-670 to take its place. It’s a game-changer! I can’t stay away from this awesome instrument. It’s my first digital piano, and I had no idea what these things could do. I feel I am pretty tech savvy and with 7 years of piano lessons behind me, I plan to get the most out of this brilliant instrument. The touch is quite comparable to an acoustic, the sound is better than my old acoustic, and the accompaniment options are limitless.

This keyboard has incredible functionality and for the price, you get great value for what the instrument costs. The weakest link are the speakers, which aren't horrible, but when you play thru a good set of headphones or a monitor, the sound quality is noticeably better. 631 high quality sounds, along with split keys and layered keys, you can practically be a one man band when you're jamming alone. So many functions I haven't even had time to explore them all yet but wow! For the price vs the functionality you won't find anything else for this price and capability. Records high quality WAV audio and can be connected to tablets, phones, etc to record video with the audio recorded straight from the instrument. No mics required to do your own personal demos/reference recordings or make some sweet videos for you social media platforms. Yamaha did a great job on this one!

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
