This is hands down the best amp I've ever owned, and that is many, including probably the very first Marshall 100 watt JCM 800 2203 that ever appeared in Canada. The amp I had prior to this was also a Mesa, Stiletto Ace 50 watt with the 2X12 Celestion V30's. That was also a killer amp, but also 100lbs, and too much for my 61 year old body. This one is less than half the weight, but all the volume and tone you could ever need for almost any application.

Sound enormous for its size. build quality is exceptional. If you want to best out of it at lower volumes youll want to get a Powerhouse attenuator. Clean channel is very nice as well.

I've owned this little beast for over 3 years now and have no intention of ever parting with it. About a year ago, for poops and giggles, I put a celestion gold in it and now I giggle....a lot. The new speaker made the reverb incredible. I have no tone-aficionado adjective to describe it, other than amazing and unexpected. I love this thing and Mesa does a poor job of marketing this beastly gem.

Very straightforward control layout. Not too many dials & switches.......but enough to give you some serious tonal variations. Fabulous cleans, even if you need pristine clean. For my live shows I usually used the ?pushed? side of the clean channel for a bit of break up. For lead excursions I use the 'modern? switch but tone down the gain a bit, as there is quite a bit of gain on tap. Great sustain & note definition. Nice to have a dedicated reverb on both channels. I play small to medium sized venues. More than enough clean headroom for small venues. For medium sized venues YMMV. For one venue I used a custom 2x12 extension cabinet. That did the trick. More than enough volume. Excels at bedroom volume as wel. The amp is extremely well built as you would expect with a Mesa. I've had the amp for a little over a year. Absolutely no issues with the amp to date. I run a Zoom MS-70CDR in the effects loop. (Runs on AA's, so it's one less power supply to worry about). I require fewer pedals with this amp. Guitar> Boss TU-3> Earthquaker Spatial Delivery > Earthquaker The Depths> Earthquaker Grand Orbiter> Chase Tone Secret Preamp> Mesa Rectoverb..........on a Voodoo Labs Dingbat Small with an ISO 5. I couldn't be happier with this amp. This is my forever amp!

If you've gotten to this point, you've probably read every online review and forum post about this amp. It's all true. It's an amazing amp and you should buy one. My only complaints are that it's hard to dial in (tone stack operates differently on Mesas than other amps) and while it can give you Fender like cleans, it is still a very darkly voiced amp. You'll never get a Marshall-like fizz but you'll get a good approximation. The reverb is worth the price difference over the Mini Rec. It's huge sounding, although muddier than a classic Fender reverb. I'm curious as to what a speaker swap will do for the sound, but out of the box this thing is awesome.

I am a senior that has been around amps all my life. I built a few myself over the years from scratch too. I even owned the first Marshall stacks when they first came to Canada. I also own some Fenders and a Victoria 45410 59 bassman combo hand wired. Every amp has a voice, but this one has them all. The Fillmore speaker is amazing. This amp is so much better than anything else out there these days for all any analogue pure tones and drive. You will not find these at any Walmart either. The attack on 25 watts is killer. The 10 watt setting is so smooth and loud as hell.. No regrets in any way. Very little and subtle tweaking needed to find your sound. or dozens more. Buy one. Worth every cent and that much better than the rest of the competition.

I have been playing guitar for 30 years and have owned numerious guitar amps. Engl Powerball, Engl Fire Ball, Mesa Roadking, Marshall DSL, and many more. I picked up this baby after I was having issues with my Line 6 DT25 which is a great sounding amp. But reliably issues made me have to trade it in. All I can say is the rectoverb 25 can get you any sound you want .. You do have to spend a little time to learn what the dials do. It is pricey but well worth owning.

And I love it. Beautiful clean tones to heavy crunch and everything in between. I had listed it to sell in a moment of post Christmas financial crisis. While waiting for the ad to be answered, I played it for a couple of hours and knew I couldn't sell it. It just sounds that good.

I bought this amp because I needed a variety of functions in a dependable combo. Something that would sound good in a bedroom and then rip up a club at night. This amp does it all. Les Paul and Strat both sound great. Even my Martin and Resonator ...with little or no hum. Great quality. The reverb is huge and each channel can be controlled individually. The down side is the Reverb knobs are on the back. Also, reverb is on/off via a footswitch that is NOT included. Aside from that ...perfect.

I bought this amp to replace my Peavey 6505 212 and I don't regret it. This little amp is very loud and can easily play a club. The build quality is top notch, as one would expect from Mesa. The real selling feature on this are the tones you can get out of it. Really, there are no limits, on channel 1 the clean sounds are awesome and on the 10 watt setting if you drive it hard you can get some very nice clipping. For Vox fans, it nails the crunch sound perfectly on the pushed setting. On Channel 2 the vintage setting is awesome giving that full saturated OD sound. The Modern setting takes you into that tight bottom high gain recto sound we all know and love (plus it runs very quiet, no hissing like the 6505 and great for recording). I know the price point is high (I wrestled with it for a while) but this is worth it. Really, you won't need another amp, ever.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
