Designed and made in Australia, the M5 is a compact cardioid condenser microphone with low noise and a full frequency response. A result of many years experience building the award-winning NT5 microphone, RDE has succeeded in making a high-quality pencil style permanently polarized condenser that will impress even the most demanding of artists and engineers.

Ideal for studio recording and live on stage, the M5 is equally at home on a range of acoustic instruments, choirs, or anywhere you would employ a small diaphragm condenser microphone, either individually or as a stereo array.

This matched pair has been carefully selected to ensure a variation of no more than 1dB sensitivity between the microphones. A premium foiled certificate is supplied to verify the authenticity of the pair.

The M5 is finished with RDEs proprietary ceramic coating which offers a sleek matt black finish, and is supplied with WS5 windshields and RM5 stand mounts.

Like the other reviewer, I also had issues with static noise. I believe it's actually RF interference, because it wasn't always there depending on location. both mics did it in the same locations, but no other mics I tried did. I returned them because of this. Sound quality was quite good, but some others are defiantly better, even at the same price range.

I was afraid to buy these, because I didn't know if the price reflected the quality. I own the RODE matched pair now, and let me tell you... ...these microphones are more than worth the price. They would still be worth the price if RODE charged an extra $100 or more for them. I can't understate the clarity I get on my vocals and acoustic guitar. If I could rate them a 6/5 I would. Also the fact that it comes with mic clips and a bunch of other goodies (like a cool RODE sticker) is the cherry on top. Very impressed with these microphones. Would recommend to anyone.

Awesome mics come well packaged and sound good. The only two problems i have is one. The mic clips are very tight almost two tight and you have to force one side in to clamp it. Instead of the (i love rode sticker) it would have been more helpful to show a visual diagram of how to do this since you don't always figure it out until later, even though the manual does mention it sort of how to do it.Or a you tube video lol. # two problem is this is my second rode set of mics purchase and there's a small dent and scratch with paint missing on one of them on the front grill small but still the quality control is lacking. My other mic was a Ntk from 2011 and i had some kinda yellow glue ball bouncing in and out of the diaphragm that i had to take apart myself and take out. Great mics but I'm the buyer rode, stop saying pass it and sending it out to the costumer. This mite be my last rode purchase after these two incidents.

really didn't expect a whole lot out of these given the cost, but was very pleasantly surprised. definitely recommend them if you don't wanna shell out the extra 400 (i didn't) for their bigger brothers the NT5's.

Bought this pair today to record guitar with an NT2A for vocals, running through a Mackie mixer, a UAC-2 USB audio interface into Cubase LE on Windows 10, 64 bit. While the NT2A sounds fine and captures beautiful, rich tone, the M5 emits a crackling, whining, hissing, popping static noise from both mics. I've tried changing ports, going direct into the audio interface, swapping cables out, making sure no cables are crossing one another. Nothing reduces the background noise. Everything about these mics except the price is awful. Not worth even trying to record with these things. I will return them as soon as possible.

I purchased these for my church and they have been great. We use them to mic the piano and for choirs. Great sound and we only paid $229. The price has gone up but still a good value. Not many features but that's what a mixer is for.

Great mics for the price. Live up to the quality of Rode mics. Definitely a bit more high end but still very usable. Fantastic for Drum Overheads.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
