For nearly half a century, Korg has set the standard for technical innovation, leadership, and superior sound. Korg has created entire categories of musical products, and has produced some of the top-selling synthesizers and keyboard instruments ever; the instruments favored by musicians around the globe. In 1988, Korg defined the workstation category with the revolutionary M1. In 2011, Korg redefined and reimagined the music workstation, revolutionizing the capabilities of the hardware instrument and exceeding the demands of the modern player with the Kronos Music Workstation.

Kronos Highlights:

• 9 Sound engines, each offering a unique sound-creation technology (see list below)
• 16-part Combis allow all engines to function together in perfect harmony; Dynamic Voice Allocation keeps the polyphony high.

• A revolutionary sample playback system aided by a fast SSD (Solid State Disk) provides high polyphony and massive, ultra-long, and unlooped samples; offering unheard of performance from a hardware instrument

• Set List mode: Organize the Programs, Combis, and Songs you need to perform your set in a single, easy-to-select screen including performance notes!

I purchased the 88 key version as my main studio workstation and it is simply amazing. Since Korg designed it to surpass all other keyboard workstations the possibilities are endless but it will require a considerable amount of time to truly master everything this keyboard offers. I chose a learn as required approach to get my immediate needs satisfied then I went exploring. There's nothing this astonishingly great sounding keyboard can't accomplish including 48 bit recording studio quality multitrack arranging/composing and yes, everything better than anything currently available offers.

The Kronos 2 is loaded with features and it allows you to tweak and do almost everything possible in a workstation.. My biggest complaint is about the Acoustic Pianos.Although they are quite expressive The Tone is inconsistent across the keyboard range. for example in a particular octave ,all of the notes sound the same in volume and tone except for F#, G# & A# this is a pain when playing chords as the harmony suffers. If you are just playing Lines you may not notice this. All of the acoustic Grands have this inconsistency in different ranges. In conclusion if you are needing a Keyboard mainly for acoustic Grand pianos, look elsewhere.

There is no other keyboard that comes close to this baby! I am no pro, but out of my 7 keyboards, the Kronos is finally the board I need to fully express myself! There are NO limitations, NONE! Is it complicated? yes, but if you want to really enjoy making tunes, you will learn what you need to do.

Kronos is an astounding instrument. It has re-invigorated my keyboard studio, and I went from once week to pretty much every night: and it's been 2 years since I got it! The only downside that I could warn folks about, is its complexity. There is a very steep learning curve for using the advanced sound design features...however, there are tons of resources and groups online dedicated to helping understand the features. I sometimes wish it had an "easy" mode, like complex digital cameras once did! As far as the actual "sound" goes, it is amazing: from pianos to massive thundering polysynths, this is the best sounding synth I have ever owned. Along with my beloved Nord Grand, the Kronos doesn't just add to my studio, it MAKES it. It is truly my desert island instrument.

The Kronos allows you convert your ideas into reality. If you are upgrading from previous Korg workstations you will be impressed blown away with the advances they have made. If you are new to Korg workstations you will need the manual, YouTube and a pocket scientist. Live performances are a breeze with 'set list' mode as the colour touch screen makes it easy to organize you sets and categories. Quick split makes it fast and easy when jamming or a new song is added mid gig. The crazy amount of polyphony makes it possible to have multiple key and velocity splits eliminating at least one other keyboard from your rig. Tons of options for the live player. Incredible sequencer: integrated sampler, effects and external control make this instrument one of the most powerful workstations in this world, if you can think of up Kronos can do it. The sounds: The integrated SSD drive stores a multitude of incredibly realistic sounds. You can actually hear the felt from the damper touching the strings in the pianos, the list goes on. I could go on and on about it but I have to get back to playing mine! Try one out in the store and chances are you will be leaving with it.

Wanted a Kronos for a while. Watching Youtube demos over and over, I just had to get one. Tons of content to get lost in, including some sounds and sequences from well known songs. Played it for some family members and got instant approval. Karma was a big selling point for me. That being said, its not a synth you can just plug in and let fly and create a song. There are a lot of complexities in this board which will require you to have the manual (parameter guide) handy. You will need it. I needed it, and I don't need manuals often. Its over 1000 pages. But the level of customization is amazing and I haven't even scratched the surface. It will take time to learn how to use it to its full potential. I went with Long & McQuade's in house financing and it was incredibly easy. They have my business for a long time to come.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
