Perfect for a small live-performance mixer, as well as home-based recording setup, the 1204USB provides four mono channels with premium XENYX mic preamps, neo-classic 3-band British-style EQ and two stereo input channels. Far from being a bare-bones mixer, all mono channels feature our one knob studio-grade compressor and two Aux Sends (one each pre- and post-fader). Two stereo Aux Returns are included for use with external FX modules. The built-in USB audio interface provides bi-directional transfer of signals between the mixer and computer.

XENYX USB Series mixers are designed to handle your live gigs, and they provide the state-of-the-art tools you need to make stunning, professional-quality recordings. Along with their built-in USB/audio interfaces, XENYX USB mixers come with all the recording and editing software you'll need to turn your computer system into a complete, high-performance home recording studio.

My old Yamaha USB mixer died some years ago and needed to replace it with something else. I didn't had a lot of money back then so I bought the X1622USB (same model, more channels) and it came with rackmount brackets so hey it can save some space in my setup and I have a huge rack with lot of space left in it so what can go wrong ?! Oh boy I was so wrong... hahahaha It is decent for starters if you just use it AS A MIXER but if you think to use it as a USB audio interface like I did, do yourself a favor and buy something else. Your sanity and your creative mind will thank you because all the things I had to do just to record something in my DAW was a real nightmare and I am pretty sure it was one the biggest reason I had a solid writer's block for years because I didnt had any fun doing this anymore. Troubles with USB connectivity, be sure to check if your drivers is really install because the one they automatically install when you connect it on your computer is worthless (and if I remember well, have trouble with ASIO), you can't record and have the computer sounds at the same time you need to cut it out everytime at the press of a button (not that tedious but if you are like me and like to work with an hybrid of VSTs, plugins and hardware synths you will find this super annoying) but the most annoying thing, the main mix faders and how the audio interface interact with it. All the others USB mixer I had before this one you could record with the main mix at a low volume and the interface will record it at the same level of the VU meter and how you setup your EQ, Volume, Pan, etc.(obviously) but guess what...not with this one. The interface you record the volume of the main mix instead of the VU Meter and I lived in a small appartment and my main monitors were some Yorkville YSM1P and I really didn't want to have troubles with my neighbors lol. So not only I needed to press a button everytime I record something, I also needed to power off my monitor too and have a pair of headphones ready EVERY ******* TIME I recorded something. Of course after that I wanted to hear the results with my monitors so I powered them on again and repressed that button...Imagine doing that over and over and over again. It finally broke like last year and didn't have the energy to get myself in my creative process again but I will get a new audio interface/mixer real soon and I will not make the same mistake and invest a little more money and I will 100% avoid Behringer for anything audio interface/mixer in the future and you should do the same. I give a 3 in the total score because it is decent for starters IF you use it as a standard mixer and you plan to plug the Main out in your audio interface.

I bought this mixer for a small home studio and occasional gigs. While the mixer can handle the latter, the home studio use is fairly limited due to noisiness. In most set ups I've used I ended up getting noise in the output somehow, which limited the mixer for the recording purposes. USB interface is absolutely unusable. It is very noisy and just plugging a USB cable attached to a computer adds noise. I was really disappointed with this as I was hoping to use the mixer as an interface and wasn't been able to achieve that. I had to invest separately into a USB interface to be able to do decent recording.

Received this mixer as a gift and finally had a chance to use it on a gig. The sound was pretty good but, it is lacking in a couple of areas. My model lacks the built-in EFX so, my mix was completely dry. The EQ section is fixed, 3-band type and I would have like to have a sweepable mid frequency to make better adjustments to the mix. On the plus side, the mixer has faders instead of rotary controls. It also sports one-knob compressors on the 4 mic input channels which is a nice touch on a mixer at this low price point. I am calling it my utility mixer for those jobs where I only need a few inputs. I would recommend it for that use particularly.
