For almost 20 years, the Epiphone Performer PR-5E acoustic-electric guitar has taken the stage with countless musicians. Designed by Epiphone in 1990, its distinctive body shape was patterned after Epiphone's classic 335 guitars such as the Sheraton and Casino. But instead of a double-cutaway, it features a unique, single "Florentine" or sharp cutaway. The result is a large lower bout providing excellent lows and solid mid-range with easy access to the upper frets on the neck. The premium select spruce top uses a hand-scalloped, proprietary X-bracing pattern. Combined with the slightly arched mahogany back and mahogany sides, the PR-5E provides a sweet tone that projects well even when unplugged. Its Mahogany neck with SlimTaper profile, makes the PR-5E very easy and comfortable to play without fatigue. Legendary Grover machine heads for tuning accuracy and stability with premium gold hardware and split-diamond, pearloid fingerboard inlays make the PR-5E an extraordinary value.

The PR-5E comes with with a Fishman Presys+ pickup system. The compact and sophisticated Presys+ offers Volume, Bass, Mid, Treble and Brilliance controls, a Phase switch, Notch filter, and a built-in tuner with LED display. The Presys+ system also includes a pre-wired Fishman Sonicore pickup for solder-free, plug and play installation, a low battery indicator, low profile control knobs and a unique pivot design for easy access to the battery compartment.

A battery is not included. To power your pickup, you will need a 9-volt battery.

This guitar is one of the nicest ones you'll find in this price range. Great sound unplugged and superb tone when plugged in. Well built, good overall quality, perfect fit and finish, great looks. The slim body is perfect in reducing arm fatigue if you're playing for a long time. Easily stands toe to toe with more expensive guitars. The Fishman electronics easily beats what all the competitors use. If you don't have $1000 to spend... this is the guitar that will perform and sound like one in that price class. Full 5 stars here.

I rented this guitar for a month and could not put it down. It is very comfortable to hold and fun to play. I have been playing guitar for 50 plus years and have played and owned many guitars but this particular one is a stand out for me. It is a great blend of both an acoustic and electric guitar with a slim profile jumbo shaped body which is easy to play while sitting. This guitar can be played for hours without fatigue to your arm or fingers. It sounds great unplugged or amplified and works well with my looper. The neck is slim and fast. It is very easy to bend notes and challenges one's creativity. Note: this guitar has a laminated top and body, so it will not have the tone or sustain of a solid wood guitar. This one is just fun to play and the sound is good. I highly recommend trying one to see if it works for you!

I got this guitar for Christmas, and I love it. I have found it very comfortable to play, and great for fingerpicking. I love the shape of it, the thinner body allows for me to reach my arm over the back comfortably, and I love the Florentine cutaway, very practical and eye-catching. The neck is also very comfortable, comfortable enough for quick sliding up and down the neck. I usually play unplugged, And it sounds great, but when i plug it into my Fender Acoustasonic it sounds really good too. All in all, a really great guitar, I would recommend it to anyone who's looking for a new guitar. It doesn't come with a case or a gig bag though, so I'd suggest getting a hard case before you get the guitar, mine fits in a Yorkville Sound archtop case quite comfortably.

What a great guitar. This is my 3rd Epiphone and they keep getting better! The quality is awesome! Unplugged or plugged it is sounds like a guitar that is twice the price. Action was slick and over all is easy to play. I highly recommend the PR-5E for anyone looking for a great guitar at a very reasonable price! The staff, Gerard and James at the Port Coquitlam L & M were great to deal with and can't do enough for you!

I bought this guitar two years ago, perphaps. I still own this until today, I love this guitar, and I have the sunburst finish. I've tried it plugged and it sounds great. I wanna try it with a mic and maybe I'll have the same great result. I really like how the action is low, so it'd be easier if I do any solos. The built in tuner makes it easier for me to tune it and this guitar is light. I recommend this to anybody and this is a great guitar. No regrets for having this guitar and I'm quiet pleased.

I bought this less than 2 years ago and I have the vintage sunburst finish. The appearance looks nice and it sounds really great. I sometimes do some solos and it didn't give me any problems. When this guitar plugged it sounds way better and livelier. I'm not disappointed at all and the sounds gets better as time passes. Overall, this guitar is awesome.

This guitar is a beauty. I have the sunburst one and it looks amazing. It has great curves and a killer cutaway! The only problem I've had is with the input jack. My strap moves the jack and causes it to become out of place and loose. However the store fixed that for me. The pickup itself is just ok and the tuner is not great.

I'm an intermediate player and bought one of these about 10 months ago. It's a fine guitar but sometimes I wonder if I should have purchased a different one. In terms of looks it is gorgeous. I got the one with the sunburst finish and it looks amazing with the gold tuning pegs. But I'm always frustrated that the fretts extend a little beyond the neck around fretts 11-14 and scratches my fingers a bit. I'm sure they can be filed down, but in the same sense, for a new guitar it shouldn't have that problem. I do love the slightly slimmer body. As a result the volume is a tad lower when played accoustically which is perfect because I live in an apartment. I haven't really experimented with it plugged in but when I have, it sounded great. The built in tuner is awesome. Very easy to read.

I've been playing my PR5 for over a year now and it sounds better as it continues to mellow. It sounds great plugged in and just as an acoustic. Great for finger picking and jazz.....

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
