Sounds very warm, you don't even need to strum it too hard for it to sound vibrant. The built in tuner is great and the guitar is pretty light compared to the other electric-acoustic guitars that I have tried before or in the store

Amazing! Preferred this over a Taylor GS mini by miles. The on board electronics are insane! Plugged in on stage it's a monster! Very easy/comfortable to play. Beautiful warm yet crisp tone. Throw some Martin retro monel 12-54 on it and never look back.

I am somewhat of a novice guitar player, but I know what I like, and I liked this guitar.
I wanted an easy-to-play acoustic-electric that had to sound great unplugged and that would suit a fingerpicking style. Also decided on a budget of around $500.
Tried four guitars in similar price range (a Yamaha, Fender, Martin, and the Takamine). The Takamine was the clear winner, and the one I took home.
This guitar sounds great (considering the limitations of its compact size). It has a bright, clean sound unplugged and also sounds amazing when plugged in.
The build quality appears to be excellent.
Shout out to the Long and McQuade staff who were very helpful!

Was in town one day just plucking away at random guitars and basses.and then I picked this one up.first thought was Hmm it's smaller then I started to play it and just wow
For it's smaller size it was really big sounding I was impressed.it played really good and sounded just as great.i was surprised.
It felt good and made me just want to keep playing it.i left and like a memorable date I kept thinking about it.and decided I needed it.
I already own quite a few guitars from electrics and even a 12 string hummingbird.
I'm not a stage player but in 25 years of playing theirs only a few guitars I just had to buy and this is one of them .

Mine is the mahogany model, but it has the slotted headstock, which adds character, in my opinion. Without that I don't feel it's worth owning....sorry but esthetics matter!

I purchased this guitar for two reasons. First, it has better playability than any other acoustic guitar on display up to $500 at Long and McQuade. The action is very close to the fretboard, and no other setup is required. Second, this guitar has a built-in pickup and preamp/tuner so it can be used with an acoustic guitar amplifier or a PA system. This combination of playability and versatility is hard to beat under $500.

Hey, this isn't the New Yorker I bought about a month ago; mine has the slotted headstock and rich looking gold tuners/amber knobs. It may sound the same -- with a minor variation because of substituting sappele for mahogany on the back and sides -- but it's not nearly as nice looking an instrument now.

Unlike my other acoustic guitars (LL6 and EL-00) which have solid tops, this guitar has a laminated mahogany top. Because of that the guitar will never sound any better than it already does. But it already sounds rich and surprisingly mellow. Bear in mind, however, that this is a $500 laminated top guitar, not a $199.99 laminated top. The sound is loud when needed, but the 3-band EQ allows you to back the bass off somewhat, which my EL-00 doesn't offer. Overall, this is a guitar that sounds like it cost twice as much, it stays in tune and is comfortable to play. That action is a tad high but that's easily fixed by Jacques Belanger. The pickup itself is far superior to the Fishman in my EL-00. This one's definitely a keeper.

I just bought this today and my first impressions are really good. First off, this is a great playing guitar -- it needs a bit of a setup -- the action is pretty good and the intonation dead on. Pickup works well with the 3-band EQ, but playing unplugged gives a bright, strong sound that belies its small size and the fact that the top is laminate rather than solid. Ordinarily, guitars at this price point have a solid top, usually spruce, but this doesn't and the sound is, well, you really have to play it and hear it to really appreciate it. This guitar is in addition to my Yamaha LL6 and my Epiphone EL-00, but I like the sound this one has and where it sits between the voices of my other two acoustic-electrics.

Open headstock with gold and amber tuners hit the aesthetics out of the park. The 00' size of the body is very comfortable to hold while sitting and the tone is warm and articulate.

Very nice couch guitar, sounds surprisingly loud, very crisp sound, enough bass for the size, but that will also depend on the string gauge you use. Tuners are great, nut OK, pre-amp with equalizer and tuner very good, I did not have a chance to test it on a good PA system. Action is very comfortable. After 6 months of use I had to smooth the sharp fret ends, which were initially OK. I did it myself, it was probably caused by low humidity. However, I don't object. I owned and tried other acoustics in the similar price range but this one wins hands down. I have only one complaint - fret size. They look like vintage frets and may not last very long. If you do your frets like me - fine, but otherwise may not be economical.

I've always thought of Takimine as more of a country style guitar. Boy was I surprised when I picked this guitar up and played it at the store. Breath volume for a small body, almost on par with my Taylor which says a lot if you have ever played or owned a Small body Taylor. Action is great for strumming or for playing around with finger style and blues licks down the neck. I highly recommend this guitar to anyone. Great value for the price. Perhaps the best value I've seen in my 25 years of playing.

I wanted open Headstock without paying twice the amount of other brands.
I like takamine guitars
The electronics and tuner same as my other takamine.
Easier to play in and arm chair then the dreadnought size.
The monster sale price was incentive needed .

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty
A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.
Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.
How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.
Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.
Purchasing additional years of coverage
Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.
If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:
NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
