I tried this first as a plug-in amp when shopping for my Strat.
The sound was so good, I picked it up and haven’t looked back. It’s LOUD. I literally have not had it past 4 yet. I can’t imagine it on 11.
Sounds great clean, and takes all my pedals just fine. Price is very good for this amp and what you get.

This is a fabulous sounding little amp and so portable. I gave it a 5 for features as the lacquered tweed, leather handle and Alnico speaker are very good quality "upgrades" on this version. Value is very poor given the high price and particleboard cabinet - shame on Fender for cheaping out for blatant profit gouging in this respect. It works very well with pedals and the clean sound is spectacular (Tele country clean). However, beware of Fender unreliability for its amps. Over the recent years I have owned (and still own) many Hot Rod Series and Classic Re-Issue amps (DRRI, Vibrolux Reverb, Twin Reverb, Super Reverb) and every single one has had problems requiring tech service to fix. Some under warranty, some not. I don't think its a coincidence that Fender reduced their 5 year amp warranty down to 2 years, it must have been costing them a bundle in Warranty claims. However, it seems that instead of improving the quality, they just chose t reduce the warranty to save them money. I got the L&M extended Warranty with the amp through their Monster Days promotion special and would not buy a Fender amp without it.

I just bought my second Pro Junior IV. I love this amp.
‘Been playin’ for years and gone through many amps. I’ve swapped tubes, adjusted bias’...blah blah blah.
The PJiv actually does the mellow/clean-to-red/hot-saturation thing better than any other amp I’ve owned. At an enjoyable volume you get to really “play” the amp (put the PJ on 8 and ride your guitar’s volume)....You’ve got clean to mean!

Simple, sensitive with a great sound. The new version has improved transition from clean to dirt, with a more gradual change. However, this small beautiful amp is constructed with cheap particle boards. Fender chose profitability over longevity and durability.

This is a perfect example of just how good a small, simple amp can be. One volume and one tone knob. No reverb, no effects, no frills, no BS. Just straight up, pure tube tone with unbelievable touch sensitivity and incredible dynamics. It also responds and cleans up beautifully well as you adjust your guitar’s volume knob. At lower volumes it gives you focused, punchy clean tones with excellent clarity. As you turn it up and start to push it into breakup, it gives you loads of vintage, genuinely tweedy grit while maintaining tight, articulate bass response (no ‘fizzing’ or ‘flubbing’ out like some Fenders are notorious for). The maximum volume on the amp tops out around 9, beyond that (between 9 and 12) it essentially turns into a gain knob, which is actually a rather useful quirk. Now, to those of you wondering (as many often do with amps such as this) ‘Is 15 watts loud enough for a band environment?’. Yes, yes and absolutely yes. This amp is incredibly loud, deceptively so for one of it’s size. Now obviously, no, you’re not going to get the extreme squeaky clean headroom that you do with larger amps, but as long as you’re not after Dick Dale levels of clean volume you’ll be just fine. The upgraded Jensen speaker does this amp a world of good, adding plenty of vintage, alnico chime. Sound aside, this amp also has an awesome, vintage look. I usually try not to get too hung up on looks, but the lacquered tweed is undeniably cool. Overall this is a great amp, and to be honest the ONLY reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because I feel it’s a little overpriced. But nevertheless, I have no regrets. It still gives you vintage tone and looks without the vintage price tag.

Rented this to compare speakers to the regular stock Blues Junior. 10' Jensen vs Celestion 12'. One thing I noticed was a real lack of controls compared to the other amp. Two knobs, Volume and Tone. Its also real loud past 3. It does have great grit to it when cranked but the Tone knob if too high it gets very trebly. I keep both knobs at about 3. Its cleaner, without the harsh treble and it doesn't rip your face off. Its very portable and light, takes pedals well but beware no reverb and no effects loop either. I tried a reverb pedal through the front and it hummed like crazy. Doesn't sound as good as the Blues Junior with spring reverb. There is quite the lack of bass in the smaller speaker. I take it this is Fender's cheaper version of the classic Champ with one knob? I returned the Pro Junior and got the Blues Junior Tweed with Jensen speaker as reverb is an important feature for me.

I've had this amp for a couple weeks now. Very clean tone and loud. I've only turned it up to 6 and it still has a pretty clean tone, doesn't break up too much at that volume. Touch sensitive dynamics when playing. The speaker sounds great (although not broken in yet) one tone knob to dial in some good sounds and it's fairly light weight, which is good because I'm getting too old to lug around a 4x12 cab. Jeff beck uses one apparently so if it's good enough for him...say no more!

What a amp. I've had this pro jr for a little bit now and I couldnt be happier. Sparkly cleans, surprisingly audible bass notes and LOUD! It's a angry little amp once you dime the volume knob. Plenty of pressence and volume with a nice crunchy overdrive. No issues as of yet, no his or hum like some have complanied about from the older versions having. The amp loves pedals and the few I have sound great thru it. I gave the amp a 5 for features not because it has alot of features but because the lack of knobs make dialing in a sweet sounds...fool proof! I feel that more knobs (amp or pedal) just make it harder to dial in a sound..

... when I showed up to jam with my Pro Junior. No way it was going to keep up with a drummer who hit the kit like it owed him money. By the second tune the singer was asking me to take the volume down, and the Pro Junior was only on 5! The amp really cuts through the mix and the tone is pure and raw. Its simplicity it its beauty. You hear the true sound of your guitar through this beast. I swapped in a 5751 tube in V1 to tame it a little. Don’t let the size fool you!

I got this amp as I play mostly in churches and small venues where the room itself isnt big. Its fine to keep up with a kit and gives a fantastic clean tone (which is my preference) and as you drive the amp volume wise you get the traditional tube crunch you may want. Yes I could come up with a bunch of stuff it COULD have but its a solid tube amp for a good price. Want cheaper? just buy the black one.

Don't be fooled by the simplicity of the controls, this amp has amazing tone and a rich sound. For a small amp this amp has a lot of punch, nearly too much for the small room I play in. Excels with pedals but sounds great on its own.

Needs tube dampeners and should include cover for the price. Amazingly touch sensitive. Bad power tubes right out of the box.

The power tubes started to overheat and the amp produced a whooshing sound on initial test play. I did put money down on it before it went into service. This was the first time I was able to try one of these. For some I can't seem to come across these amps. Always sold out or on backorder. I was able to get the amp later in the day. The stock Groove tubes (power section) had gone bad. The JJ tubes were installed. I would recommend getting some tube dampeners for this amp if you can. The preamp tubes like to creep out of the socket slightly after heavy playing at high volumes. More of a Plexi Vibe than pure Fender. This thing cuts. It really should include a cover at this price. One of the big things about this amp is the touch sensitivity, it's amazingly responsive with my alnico 3 single pickups. Lots of sparkle in the overtones. I do appreciate that it has an 8 ohm speaker out for my other cabs. Best of all it won't put out your back when hauling it around. Love the stock speaker.

I needed a smaller 15-30 watt amp for home use. I took my 63 custom shop Strat and headed to the amp room. I tried a 68 deluxe custom reverb, 65 deluxe reverb, Blues jr, and a couple versions of the Bassbreaker models, then I plugged into the Pro jr iv. 5 minutes latter I walked out the door with it. Killer tone, it's like a 15 watt version of the 59 Baseman.

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
