Eric Lam has a BMus, majoring in Composition and Theory from the University of Alberta and a Music Diploma from Grant MacEwan University. Eric has taught guitar for over 18+ years and he also teaches flute and cello. Eric teaches various genres of music, his students have consistently received outstanding results on RCM exams and even the golden medal.

As an active musician, composer and music arranger, he plays for various music events and concerts in various cities throughout western Canada. Erica Van Drunen is a pianist and vocalist with over 20 years of performance experience under her belt as well as over 15 years of teaching music to groups and private students. She was hooked on playing piano and singing for as long as she can remember. In 2004, she left Canada to go overseas and became a music teacher at a boarding school, an experience that inspired her to obtain a music degree. She graduated from Grant MacEwan University in Edmonton in 2006 with a diploma in jazz piano performance and then attended the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts in England, where she completed a BA in music with a double major in songwriting and piano performance in 2010—and where she had the privilege of a private songwriting lesson with Sir Paul McCartney.

As a pianist and vocalist, Erica has performed on various artists’ albums and released some of her own under the banner of her long-time band Seven Suns. She teaches in a way that makes music accessible and enjoyable for every student. As a musician and teacher with severe hearing loss, she is adept at meeting students where they’re at and helping them capitalize on their individual strengths to find their own unique creative outlet through music. Her own experiences and challenges navigating the music world have given Erica all the tools needed to help others build musical confidence, create their own masterpieces, and play with passion. Jon Guenter is a freelance musician based in the city of Edmonton. He’s a recent graduate of MacEwan University’s Bachelor of Music program, majoring in Drum Set Performance, where he spent the majority of his studies focusing on improvisation. Throughout his studies, Jon has taken the role of bandleader, and has played in a variety of styles, from rock to pop. While Jon’s focus lies in the genre of jazz, he is well-versed in many different styles, and has a passion for teaching music to students of all ages and abilities. Jon is a firm believer in examining the aspects of music from a variety of different angles, and believes this process is essential in the development of any musician. Jon has invested his time into understanding not only the theory that surrounds drums, but music theory as a whole. By learning music through mediums like theory, technique, listening, and instrument application, this provides students with the tools to both learn and understand music, allowing them a creative outlet that will translate into other areas of life. Jon’s passion for learning is equally matched by his passion for teaching and it is the experience of growth and knowledge that makes teaching such a positive experience for both Jon and his students. Jon understands each student learns their own way and at different speeds but encourages students to spend a designated set of time each week to work on the materials discussed in class. With 20 years of training and teaching experience, she has been exposed to various styles and genres of music.
