The Yamaha SV-130 Violin provides violinists of all levels with the ability to practice confidently without disturbing others. Though the acoustic sound produced is barely a whisper, you will hear yourself in the rich, virtual environment of a resonant concert hall. The SV-130 allows players of any level to play or practice anytime. Building upon the great success of it's predecessor, the SV-120, the new SV-130 Silent Violin enables players of all levels to practice silently, anyplace and at anytime. With the inclusion of a 1/4 inch output jack, this instrument can be played through any standard amplifier, and the violin's improved circuitry produces higher quality sound while reducing noise output. The SV-130 may also be used along with an MP3 or CD player through the aux-in jack, useful for practice or just to play along with your favorite tunes. The beautiful silent violin screams Yamaha quality!

I rented it from L&M. The chin rest is not adjustable. If you need more or less hight, or you need to center your chin rest, you can not. Also, the shoulder rest has very little adjustability. If this fiddle fits you right out of the box then it is worthwhile owning it. Make sure it is fitted by a professional.

I rented the Yamaha SV130 from L&M. I tried to like it, and I did to some extent. The electronics are solid, the quality is very good but I couldn't get a proper fit. The shoulder rest is basically non adjustable, it moves a little bit, but not nearly enough up/down or side to side. Also the chin rest is a built in plastic piece that is non adjustable, your stuck with the factory position. If a silent violin for practice is what your after, a metal mute on an acoustic violin will give the same result. If it fits you, then it would be a worthwhile purchase. I'm back to a well fitting acoustic with a microphone for amplification.
