...but not quite.
An amazing amount of quality instruments and effects for the price.
The Reaktor Ensemble (Razor, Prism, Spark, Spark, Monark) presets could be organized better. Not exactly user friendly. The synths outside of the Ensemble (Massive, Absynth, FM8 etc.) are better organized.
Some people may be disappointed in the quality of the solo string and brass instruments. They are certainly usable, but maybe not top-shelf.
OTOH, Session Strings Pro, the effects in Guitar Rig 5 (one of the highlights of the package), all the drums, bass, Vintage Keys and cinematic stuff is great. Vintage Organs are so-so. Alicia's Keys is a good piano, though not suitable for all occasions. The Giant is more versatile. A real top-notch virtual piano is still missing from this bundle. But then nothing touches the real thing, so...you make due with varying degrees of suck no matter what you have.
The effects are good to great. The new Premium Tube series and RC reverbs definitely brought a new level to the Ultimate package.
With the constant new product offerings from NI, this package will continue to grow and improve. While you get some stuff you'll probably never use (Balinese Gamelan???) much of it will be used daily.
I wouldn't be happy using just NI synths, and had to find a better organ program and some electro/techno percussion and bass sounds. Other than that, Ultimate has so far met all my musical and production needs.
