5th Avenue Kingpin
The Godin 5th Avenue brings you back to a time when the archtop acoustic guitar reigned supreme. With the soul of a 1950s archtop, the 5th Avenue is a true vintage spirit of yesterday with todays level of modern playability. With more projection & volume in the low/mids than traditional archtop acoustic guitars, the dynamically rich tone of the 5th Avenue makes this sophisticated instrument a dream to play, but not a nightmare to pay for. The Godin 5th Avenue now makes the affordable North American archtop guitar a reality! From Alt-Country, Delta Blues, Slide, Jazz to Rock, the 5th Avenue can really deliver both acoustically and electrically. The new Godin Kingpin P90 single-coil pickup delivers all that classic, vintage tone with presence, clarity and a little attitude thrown in for good measure!

Made from Canadian Wild Cherry, the body of the 5th Avenue features a molded arched top and back, as well as an adjustable bridge, classic f-holes, contoured high-gloss headstock, floating pickguard and cream binding. Also, the rustic beauty of its Custom Polished Finish creates a gorgeous satin sheen reminiscent of the French polish of the 19th century.

I just brought this gem home a week ago, after waiting 2 weeks for delivery(I opted for the black, and it's well worth it), and let me tell you!!! This thing is unreal!! This is my 4th Godin family Guitar, I have had a Norman, a seagull, and two Simon & Patrick's, and would be hard pressed to go to another brand for the under $1500 range. This 5th Ave sounds so much better acoustically than I imagined, and the P90 really pumps out the tone...I mostly play at church, home, and a gig here and there with my wife, so I was looking for something a little more aggressive electrically than my Simom & Patrick, but not as full out electric as my Les Paul, and this 5th Ave fulfilled this need PERFECTLY, I can't sing enough praises about this beauty, it looks classy, sounds amazing, and is an absolute joy to play, I will have this guitar for the rest of my days. I also highly reccomend the Tric case as well, great lightweight protection for your investment, and it's non wood design keeps from robbing moisture from your instrument. Awesome job Godin!!!

It is hard to find a better archtop guitar at this price point, and it's made in Canada! How do they do that? I don't know, but what I know is that this is a great acoustic archtop guitar which becomes an awesome blues and jazz guitar when plugged in. The construction quality is amazing. Being an archtop the body is not as fat as a dreadnought so it makes easy to hold. The guitar has a very good tonal range and lots of sustain when played acoustically. With an amp the P90 delivers a rich tone. Remember that this is a magnetic pickup, so nickel strings for electric guitars will work better. The volume and tone controls are silky smooth. There is perhaps one minor detail that needs improving, which is the rough edges in the F holes, but this is really nothing. I have the satin natural finish, which looks great and is not likely to scratch. The factory-set action is really nice and the adjustable floating bridge allows for tweaking without adjusting the truss rod. Tuners are very good too. A pleasure to play. Thanks Godin!

I really appreciate the guitar. The p90 pickup has lots of frequency response coupled with my Fender Acoustisonic Jr. I have done nothing to it and have owned it for a full year now. The tuning pegs could have slightly better quality, but that is my only negative comment. Love the matte finish-no fingerprints to deal with. Using the D'Addario EJ21 XL strings. Great bargain for the money all round.

This is my first guitar and it really inspires me to practice. The acoustic sound is gorgeous, and it has great volume and sustain, it really sings. I don't have an amp yet but with the sound of this guitar, I'm in no hurry. The fact that it is Canadian made is pure gravy.

I have a sunburst King 2, It started out really bright, but something you expect from a jazz style guitar. After the last year it has gotten a lot fatter sound. The tone as it ages is remarkable. The action is perfect, but if you don't like it you could adjust. Out of the factory this is the nicest guitar I have played for under a thousand dollars. Tone just keeps getting better is my best compliment. I play mostly unplugged. I let my buddy borrow it and he has been recording with it. Even though its a "jazz" guitar it plays rock just as well. He said the pic ups are as good as his esp maybe better, and asked to buy my baby from me. Highly recommend it to anyone. I was so impressed with my Godin I went and bought an Art and Lutherie acoustic for jamming around the cottage. Can't say enough about how nice their guitars sound for the price. Its not a Martin, but I can actually afford it. The archtop is nice compromise. I wasted sure if I wanted an electric or acoustic and it does both real well. If you get to a store or know someone with this guitar PLEASE pick it up to at least try. For the price it is probably the best bang for your buck. Its also north american made if that is a concern of your.

Totally impressive! Wonderful sound perhaps because of the cherrywood or the non plastic finish. The guitar is a joy to strum and it's LOUD, if you want it to be. Unplugged every note rings and is clear as a bell, but depending on your technique; you can muddy up the sound depending on pick attack. Plugged in; the guitar sounds great with that lovely P-90 power. Workmanship is really really good.

all I can say is WOW!!!This guitar surpassed all my expectations. This is my first archtop, and it is amazing. The workmanship is beautiful, the price is right, and the sound is amazing.I've done my research on this guitar, checked out all the reviews on different sites,so I was a little nerveous, although mostly great reviews, but rest assured, this guitar is amazing. It is great acoustically, and plugged into an amp. I've tried both, and am totally satisfied with both. So, if your looking for a dual purpose guitar, i.e. acoustic or amped, this is the guitar for you. I mostly play blues, jazz, western, this is not a guitar for anything else, but if this is what you play, then get it. it comes in natural, black and cognacburst finish...awesome. More details contact me.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
