I'm a sound technician at my high school and also have a descent amount of higher-quality sound equipment at home, and I love these headphones! Very well balanced, but I'd say the low end is slightly over-emphasized. Not really in a bad way though. It's really hard to explain unless you've heard them.

I run project studio out of my house and do a lot of late night mixing - These make a great replacement for studio monitors when I need to work at night - so far the results are incredible and my mixes translate well on different systems, even when I don't immediately check on the monitors. Great product, all the most recent (2013) mixes on my website were at least mostly done with these phones (www.redroomrecordings.ca)

I bought these 'phones based on a recommendation from a friend who owns a recording studio. These are his standard fare. Yeah, they're not hugely expensive. Don't let that throw you off. They're also not hype. What they are is accurate. VERY accurate. Not at all like pleasant, home headphones. Purpose built. For the home recordist. I've listened to much more expensive cans and these easily equal anything I've auditioned under $300.00. They.re easy to wear for hours on end, handle high SPL and give you an honest representation of your recorded material. Also, they portray an honest image of anything you toss at them. Everything just sounds.....well....right, I guess. If you're looking for a GOOD sound experience at a "Don't break the bank" price, I suggest, strongly, that you audition these beauties. They're worth EVERY penny you'll pay. Also, they're rather ruggedly built. They feel, look & sound much bigger than they cost. Enjoy. Cheers, Pete.

Brought these at the Scarborough location and I must say, the product as well as the experience was excellent. These headphones are hands down the best in their price range. The good people at L&M also let me try out other headphones but unless you spent thousands on amp, DAC, you'll just be wasting money with higher priced ones. I also own Shure's 440 and 840 and I still prefer the M50's.

I bought these when the first came out and they are still going strong. The sound is clear and precise. The 1/4 inch screw on adapter was a nice feature as i use these with my MP3 player as well as in the studio and for Djing. I just wish the cord could be unplugged and replaced with a shorter one. That's a minor issue compared to the price and quality of these headphones. The ear pads have started to wear down to the foam but its taken 3+ years for them to start becoming a problem. Pros: Amazing sound Super strong w/swivel headphones Cheap (compared to other headphones in same class) 1/4 inch screw on adapter. Super light and can be worn for extended peroids of time Cons: Built in cord (its pretty long) I would recommend these for anyone getting into Djing, mixing or personal use. Everything about these headphones are great (besides the cord).

I Went from Panasonic, to Beats by Dr Dre Mixr's to see if rumours were true or not if beats suck or not, Returned my beats, To much bass and HURTS YOUR EARS, and gives myself constant headaches after 10 mins and quality is medicore, 6/10. But These Audio Technicas have amazing HX Responce 15-28000HZ PERFECT QUALITY. You can hear everything clearly so CRISP. Lows are Warm, Punchy, Bassy, Mids are, exactly where they should, and HIghs are Crystal CRISP!! =D They also look so dope. I Mix and Monitor using Fl Studios and these are the absolute headphones I've been dreaming for and lusting over for such amazing quality. ABSOLUTY AMAZING. STUPID TO NOT BUY SUCH PERFECT HEADPHONES !

These headphones not only provide accurate, non-enhancing sound, but they are comfortable enough to wear for hours. I have read many reviews prior to purchasing the M50s. Many named the M50(S) as the best studio headphones available. Many reviews compared these ($180) M50(S) to Beats Studio Pro ($450) and all reviews that the M50(S) were better headphones for studio use. My only complaint is the lack of replaceable cord. it would be nice to swap out the cord (~3 meters) for a shorter one when taking these out of the studio. The construction seems very durable despite being made mostly from plastic. From reviews I read, that the ear pads do wear out quickly (~1-2 years), but they are replaceable. I would highly recommend buying these for studio use, otherwise I would look into the new Audio Technica ATH-PRO700 mk2 (the dj equivalent) that come with 2 detachable cords. Hopefully L&M will start carrying these soon.
