2x2 USB 2.0 audio interface with 2x D-PRE and 192 kHz support

Highlighting two industry-acclaimed D-PRE microphone preamps, class-leading 24-bit/192 kHz converters and a rock- solid metal housing, the UR22 audio and MIDI interface provides pure sound wherever you are. With a dedicated high- impedance switch, a separate headphones jack and phantom power supply, this portable 2-in/2-out device is the perfect choice for mobile musicians, touring DJs and everyone in between.

Pure sound...
The microphone preamp is one of the key factors in recording and thats why the UR22 interface is equipped with two stellar-sounding D-PREs. These preamps are the culmination of years of development by the experts at Yamaha. The result is a truly transparent and beautifully detailed sound that is unrivaled in this class. Whether you're looking to record acoustic instruments, vocals, an electric guitar or ambient textures, with the UR22 you can easily capture any audio source.

Just as important as the preamps are, of course, the converters. The UR22 includes first-rate A/D and D/A converters that provide supreme sonic fidelity. And where others come to a halt, the UR22 begins to shine. With a maximum sampling rate of 192 kHz and a resolution of 24 bits, you are more than ready to deliver future-proof music productions.

wherever you are
The UR22 is addicted to touring. Its small enough to be rushed from gig to gig and rugged enough to withstand all the rigors of the road. Built to the most exacting standards by Yamahas experienced engineers, the UR22s full metal chassis is reassuringly solid. You're free to hit it with your drumstick, throw it into the tour bus or simply open a beer with it thanks to its impressive manufacturing quality the tour-tested UR22 is always ready to roll.

And regardless of its size, the UR22 exhibits all the core features of its bigger brothers, the UR824 and the UR28M, allowing you to realize rock-solid recordings without restrictions. Simply connect it via USB to your computer and start making music without any additional power supply and always in class-leading sound quality.

I have been using this interface for a year and I have not had any problems! I will say that I have a friend who has gotten this and didn't have a good experience. I have no Idea how that is possible. It is really good quality and is well priced in my opinion. I will definitely upgrade to the UR44 when I need to get a bigger interface. If you do get a faulty one, just replace it! It is well worth the money if you are starting out and need an interface!

I'm using this interface with REAPER on a Windows 7 PC. I generally run three instances of BIAS FX and one of Steven Slate Drums when I'm recording. Even with all of these running, I have NO problem running at a 64 sample buffer, and I can honestly say I don't notice any input latency. This interface has solved all my previous problems (I had a Line 6 GX). I don't need many features, and that's exactly what I got. The few features it has work wonderfully, everything feels very high quality , and it looks great on my desk. Nice and heavy so it doesn't get pulled around or knocked off. Speaking from an amateur perspective, this is the interface to get at this price point. I have no problems with overloading the pre-amps like I had before with my Line 6 GX (with a guitar/bass direct in) and the input/output latency is phenomenal. I had been deliberating between a bunch of single/dual input interfaces for quite a long time, but I am so glad I bit the bullet and bought this one. Awesome product for the price/in general. It's worth noting I was told by the sales rep at L&M that though they've had many Scarlett interfaces come back in for repairs, not a single UR22 has come back.

I have tried two different units of steinberg ur22, and they both distort the sound at high volumes. Thanks to long and mcquade, they let me exchange it for another audio interface. Do not buy, waste of money, unless you never want to turn the volume up.

If you turn the volume up loud the sound starts distorting. I had warranty on it so i gave it to the store to fix the problem. They ran a bunch of tests and told me that it distorts for them at loud volumes too, but they ran a bunch of tests and they all came out fine, that's just the way the interface works. Am i never suppose to listen to music at a loud volume? A waste of money!

Quality budget interface. Works flawlessly with Reaper and Cubase on Windows 8.1. RTL around 8 ms at 44.1 KHz and 64 samples. The preamps were a nice surprise for a interface in this price range, although the Hi-Z input can be driven into clipping with higher gain pickups, even when the gain control is all the way down. No pads or phase switch, but all in all this unit punches above its weight.

This interface never worked properly from day one. Also, Cubase AI was an absolute pain to install. I realize that piracy is a threat to Steinberg's business model, but this was seriously ridiculous. First of all, the audio would drop out randomly for about a second at a time in playback and recording in both Reaper and Cubase, as well as just listening to music through Winamp. This happened on both my desktop and laptop, running Windows 8.1. I tried several different ASIO and third party audio drivers, different buffer sizes, sample rates, etc. Nothing would fix it. This is extremely frustrating when it happens half-way through nailing a difficult take. After what must have been hours of head scratching, troubleshooting and searching the Steinberg forums, I found that it picks and chooses which hardware it likes and what it doesn't. By disabling some devices within the device manager and trying different USB ports, I finally got it to stop doing this on my desktop. No such luck on my laptop. I also tried contacting Steinberg tech support, which was an absolute joke. Still waiting on a response a month later. Fast forward 3 weeks and it completely died. I went to use it and found the USB LED flashing and no input or output being routed through it. When I turned on phantom power, both peak lights would light up to about 50% brightness and it would produce a loud clicking every second or so. Luckily, L & M customer service was stellar. I was able to return it and exchange it for a Focusrite Scarlet 2i2, which has worked perfectly, straight out of the box. In summary, don't waste your time or money with this interface. It may support a higher sample rate, but the quality just isn't there.

I purchased this to mess around with recording my guitar playing in the hopes of improving. It took me a little effort to get it working but once I did it is actually easy to use. It comes with Cubase AI 7 in the box...well, as a download. I was surprised at how fully featured it is! I expect someone who knows more than I do might need a more powerful version. I was able to get the unit working with Ableton Live 9 Lite and Amplitube with ease. I would definitely recommend this package to someone who wants to play around with recording themselves. As for a more advanced user all I can say to that is the unit seems to work with a variety of software packages so it might be good as a portable unit.

Worked this unit to death for a year, and it still has all of it's nine lives. The darlington pre-amps are top-notch insuring distortion free signals. Does exactly what it's suppose to do, i am extremely pleased with this unit. Works as stand alone, or in conjunction with a mixer (input 2 Hi-Z) for excellent signal quality. For it's price,it's a great choice.

I bought this so I can do some recording of my guitars, microphone and DJ equipment. I love it! Works great on my PC. I love the look and feel of the product aswell, not to mention the portability. To be honest, I made this purchase very quickly with little hesitation, but overall was one if the best I made at L&M. If you are looking for a simple recording station, would HIGHLY recommend this product!

Very pleased. Perfectly working driver with no bugs. Decent pre amps. (decent meaning overall and not decent for the price) Unbelievably priced. All metal chassis weighs around 2 pounds. Don't bother with anything else in this price range. )Destroys M-audios fast track line hands down. Also comes with cubase AI downloadable. Overall feels really solid and well thought out. +1 Steinberg!

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
