I've had this guitar for 9 years. I had played electric for a while and this was my first and only acoustic. It's amazing, and I think if I spent more on a 'better' guitar I would only be disappointed. I feel like the value for this at the price is unbeatable. The sound has improved with time. The action is low on mine, lots of resonance and really bright with lighter strings. It's a shame it's discontinued. If you can still find one, do it.

A friend gave this to me on ?indefinite loan?. He pulled it out of the case after not using it at least three years. SHUT-UP it was still in perfect TUNE! I have had much more expensive guitars tgat don't hold their tune at all, at all. Now, I've had it in HAIDA GWAII where the folks are warm and the weather is damp, but the FG-700 still holds its tuning after several months. Definitely recommend. Plays easy, using nice thin chrome / platinum strings. Now my guitar gently weeps when I bring it in from the Country Roads and Stawberry swing. The top is Yellow, . She is beautiful.

Low action and nice bright sound, awesome mid-range. I couldn't ask for a better guitar and forget about the price. I bought it for a hundred bucks and I feel like I ripped them off.

I got this guitar a couple years ago and the only reason I got was because I really needed an acoustic guitar but after the years went by the guitar aged beautifully and now I'd say the sound is up there with some $1000 guitars

Bought this guitar after trying it at L&M.. Had it just over one month now and must say am very pleased with the quality, playability and great sound of this guitar. Its bright and quite loud.. has excellent mid range tone fun to rock out on.. doesn't rattle or buzz. Really came alive today when swapped out the standard strings with some Martin lights bronze. Was like *wow* . Frets very easily - action is low and fast. Recommend this to my friends no problem. Great value for beginners or seasoned players. Really enjoying this guitar.

Best buy in the Guitar world today. Tweaked the truss rod and the strings just lay on the frets. Almost plays itself. BIG SOUND!! Also own Gibson J45, Gibson ES335, Martin D28, S&P Songsmith, Fender Sonorian. Just try one and you will own it!

Bought this guitar to transition from my electric Gibson Les Paul and I've had no problems with it and am actually playing it more now. Although it would be nice if it came with 2 strap buttons. It's very durable as I've dropped it twice and bumped it into walls (among other things) without so much as a scratch. Comes with D'Addario's (Personal favourite woo) And the chrome Grover tuners are amazing. I only have to tune about once a week with 4-5 hours play time daily. The tone is very balanced and has a very powerful mid range. I find it ridiculously loud and very easy to play due to the low action. The finish is beautifully thin and shows off the natural woods to the point that you can feel the lines. The neck is also matte (in case you didn't know already) which over time will shine up and feel much better than a gloss finish in my opinion. It also seems like more of a satin finish than a matte which will give it character the more you play it.

I change the strings to D'addario flat tops, graptech nut and saddle and it has now a sound that it 3-4 times the price. The mate finish makes it look like a very expensive guitar. Flawless black binding and excellent sound. Stays in tune forever.

I kid you not, this guitar is the loudest guitar I own. I also own a 90s Martin D-28, a Seagull cutaway acoustic, and a Simon & Patrick acoustic. I could not believe the tone and volume this $200 guitar produces. I compared it to several guitars in the acoustic room at the L&M on Terminal, including a Yamama LL6 (supposedly a better "handmade" guitar), a used 70s Guild D-25, and a $2000 Gibson J45. Neither were as loud or as tone driven as this cheap a$$ Yamaha. Get one while you can because I have heard whisperings through industry contacts that Yamaha will be changing this model because it sounds better than their more expensive ones. No joke.

Recommended by 2 friends that are both more experienced than me. Makes me sound great. Matte finish sounds noticable better than the gloss, doesn't scratch easy or show fingerprints at all. Everyone that's tried it has offered to buy it from me when I'm done with it.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
