I strongly advise folks to avoid using these in a live environment. I recently rented 2 of them for a gig only because L&M had rented out all wireless handhelds. They worked as intended when no one was in the room, but as soon as people started coming in, both units started cutting out. I had to abandon their use in the middle of the gig (not cool) and have the 3 speakers share the handheld wireless I had of my own. To be clear, the transmitters were within 6 feet of the receivers. All units were fully charged. I'm assuming, as I've read elsewhere, that all the cell phones in the room was the cause of the connectivity problem. Of course the rental department was very understanding and I was offered a refund. I'll certainly never use them again. Heed this warning.

Not ideal for live performance with multiple singers with same mic’s as sound quality is substantially less. More suitable for presentations or solo.

Purchased due to positive reviews, price and practicality. Unfortunately when performing with my duo there was a substantial difference in sound quality through our beta 58’s. Singing lead with my other bands as well would require equal if not better signal.

The quality of this tool is impressive! Lattency is not perceptible, no loss of audio quality...I use it in a church, and the battery is lasting for all the service and the repetition before the real thing. I would say the battey last more than they say. I'm not giving 5 stars just because the receiver, when connected in the snake, the controls button are on the side, so, no accessibility without disconnect it. But it's not a big deal! The case is all of metal, so even if it falls, it'll not broke. Buy it! 🙂

I bought one of these units on the advice of the rep at L+M Vancouver, and I haven't looked back. I don't have $800 to spend on a Shure system, and I also don't want garbage from Amazon. So I gave this a shot and have never looked back. I'm currently trying to convince my band to each grab one and experience the true joy I feel. I've noticed zero or next to zero issues with cutting out, though I haven't tried with multiple devices running at once.

When I finally found a good channel with no dropouts, it worked great. I was 70 feet away and it sounded great with an SM58. I would like more volume control and a couple more channels, but I managed to make it work for a corporate gig after doing a scan of wifi frequencies that we were swimming in. I compared my findings with the manual of selectable frequencies and fixed it. Nice solid build, though. I would buy one of these.

I use this with a Sennheiser 604 on my sax and couldn’t be happier. Easier than plugging in a cable! Recorded in Logic to check the noise floor and it’s as clean as any other wireless. Be aware that 2.64 GHz is a common network band so occasional interference is possible. It has 6 channels though so you can easily switch if this is a problem. Because my previous wireless had a power adapter, antenna, non recharging battery and cable, I rarely used it. But this I use every time.

I had a challenge to mic up a community performance of Cabaret on the cheap. We rented a Shure 55SH retro mic and rented this to enable the singers to move around without worrying about wires. It worked PERFECTLY! The battery lasted easily through the 2 1/2 hour show and charged up quickly. The sound was excellent and the system was foolproof to use. One tip though, if you want to use the 55SH and a mic stand, the transmitter is too fat at the XLR connection, so I used a Male-male and Female-female XLR adapter to extend the transmitter below the mic. Ideally, a single Female-Male adapter would work but one was not readily available.

Getting the Xvive u3 was the last piece of my one man (wireless) show! I use a Bose S1 (battery powered), Bluetooth for my backup tracks, Xvive u2 for my guitar and now the u3 to make my microphone wireless. The u3 was very easy to set up. The sound is warm and clear. I actually think both Xvive units sound better than running wired. It is more exact and responsive sound! Note: if you get both the u2 and u3, remember to set them on two different channels.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
