First off I want to say that the product is excellent. I love it. However to pay hundreds of dollars for something that WILL stop working in a few years with no remedy is not worth it. There are rechargeable batteries inside it, and when they stop charging, you have to throw it away. If they made a way to replace the batteries, I would give this unit 5 stars. Right now it is just unusable plastic sitting on a shelf at my home.

I have a friend who was gigging with one of these and I liked the fact that it was rechargeable as opposed to the Line 6 G30 that I currently own and uses batteries. So when I picked it up I checked it out and thought it was well put together. I charged it up and played a bit at home and it worked great in my basement. I brought it to a gig that weekend and about 4 songs into the 3rd set, it started dropping out on me. At first it was just the odd stutter but then I had a 2 or 3 second complete silence. In all cases, I was standing right over the receiver, plugged into my pedal board. I immediately replaced it with a cord for the rest of the gig. Later that week, I tried it out at home and started getting dropouts. The following weekend, I charged it up and brought it to my next gig but this time I had my Line 6 G30 ready to go. Part way thru the first set it started stuttering. I switched over to the G30 before the next song and had no problem for the rest of the night. I brought the Xvive unit back the following week. I love the idea but it’s not perfect.

This unit solved the issues of guitar cables wrapping around furniture at home. Easy to use, no noise, charge lasts longer than expected. Probably not robust enough for gigs, but suits my needs. I hesitated because of the price but the convenience offsets that.

I got mine like 4 years ago. Bought a 2nd one also. And still working well for me.
I use it constantly for practice and live shows.
I was surprised at how well it works and doesn't change my tone.
I noticed that they put a new note on the description - 'not recommended for active guitars, basses' -- so far myself and my band mates have not had a problem with this, but I've read plenty of posts where some have.
I juggle 3 basses normally (primarily a bass player) - all have an active pre-amp with passive pickups - I also have 2 active guitars that they've worked fine in.
I did have one problem with 2 of my basses where when I plugged it in directly to my input jack, I would sometimes have a slight high pitched noise (eeeeee). I found out that it was too close to the electronics. Used a patch cord and taped it to my strap on my back - noise gone, solved.
There can be sometimes where a different locations, it might have trouble with the signal - make sure there is a clear line between the transmitter and receiver and try the other channels - only had one time were had to change the channel and it was fine.
My one guitarist had a crackle at band practice, part of a wall was in the way, so we moved the amp to the other side of the room and fixed.

_____________________________________________________________________________________ After 9 months I started to hear a vibration noise (buzz) coming from the receiver. After communicating with XVIVE, I was advised to orient the receiver differently on the amp. The noise went down, but it came back even louder. The problem comes from the on/off button which buzzes. I contacted them again and they told me that there was nothing they could do since the warranty had expired for 3 weeks. Even though I had reported the problem before the end of the warranty the first time, they didn't want to do anything to help me. Not very respectful.

Tried playing a gig. No signal. Didn’t matter what channel I switched too. For an at home or band practice wireless it’s great. But for live performances at bars and venues that have one or more wifi routers. No good. Caused 5 minutes of trouble shooting to discover zero signal coming from wireless. Pretty disappointed as I switched from a line 6 g90 for this.

After reading some negative reviews I wasn't sure about owning one of these, but after about 5 months it's turned out to be fine. I have never used it on stage, and I'm sure some of the higher value, more rugged units would be a better idea, but I've used it in a few amps, tubed, and solid state and had no issues. Even used it on my pedal board with no problem. Pedal board plugged into amp, receiver on first pedal, and transmitter on guitar. Also used different guitars. No issues. System is quiet and the sound is what I'd expect from a cord. It's plastic so I'm careful when removing it from a guitar or amp. Just hold by the stem close to the jack when removing. I don't bother with reviews as a rule but I've been very happy with this unit so why not.

I'd give this a 4.5 if it was priced better but for 200 bucks here's why it's a so-so deal: 1. You can't replace the battery. That means when the battery does not charge anymore you have to throw the entire unit away. You're throwing away a decent set of digitizers and wifi transmission systems over a non-replaceable battery. 2. The tech support is not good. You can call a number in LA but the language barrier is substantial. I bought the Xvive "mic unit" also but had to return it because there was no way to resolve the analog noise it was generating. Their tech support was unable to answer the noise issue nor do I think they understood what I was talking about. I returned it to L & M and was refunded. I don't think the microphone system is digital like the guitar system. Frankly it's the fact that it's fully digital that makes it sound so great. Especially on bass - which surprised me. I use mine almost every day as I'm in my studio most of the day and use it on one of several different guitars that all sound great through it. As long as the battery holds out but when it fails that will be a sad day. I hear the one that BOSS makes for an additional hundred bucks or so has a replaceable battery so I'll probably buy theirs when this one retires.

I was nervous about getting this wireless (cost, size, etc.).. But has worked out really great. I'm primarily a bass player, then guitar, and it works great for both. I don't notice any change in tone. battery lasts about 6-8 hrs. takes under 1.5 hours to fully charge from dead. I've been using it for about a year now. I notice some have had problems. All i can think of is some type of interference. My vocal/guitarist in my band had problems with crackling and little cut-outs for quite a while, but gigs it would be fine. Then we figured out at practice, our PA amp was right between him and his amp, and he also stood slightly around a corner. When we moved his amp to the other side of the room, that problem disappeared. (line of sight?) In rare times, like maybe once every 3 jams, i have had it cut out for 2-3 sec. again.. most likely something interfered. and I would assume you get this with almost any wireless out there. I like how i can just turn it off at the guitar and the signal cuts right off. No need to shut anything off while I swap guitars. or if I want to be muted for a bit.

bought a set for m'self, and a set for the missus. works better than anticipated. four channels ain't a lot (hence my 3.5 for "features"), but solid, charges quick, lasts hours. now...here's a thing... one of my guitars has active pickups. and they say this system won't work with actives... well, I'm here to tell ya otherwise. at least in my case, anyways. fwiw, it's an LTD f-350, if that makes any diff to y'all. but I ain't sayin' it'll work for YOUR actives. all told, a hell of a great wireless rig, and MUCH cheaper than the next cheapest (decent) system. do y'self a favour, pack yer patchcords and grab a set of these bad boys.

Overall I love what it does and how it sounds.(On ONE Guitar) I have 3 Acoustic/Electric guitars, and it works PERFECT on my Ovation. My other 2 guitars it has a VERY LOUD high pitched screeming sound.Plenty loud enough that you CANNOT use it with those 2 guitars. I went online Troubleshooting and found others with the same problem.. Found You CANNOT use it with L.R. Baggs pickups. Other folks found the exact same problems with their LR Baggs pickups.. Am I happy? 1/3 Yes and 2/3 NO.. Wish I would have know this before purchase. Would have bought a different settup..

I purchased this to play in a tight live environment where chords were constantly getting tangled. It is simple to use and it has worked flawlessly! The battery life is about as advertised (5 hours). Its charging cycle is slow - about 2 hours to fully charge. So far, there has not been interference with other devices, and two other players are using Line 6 wireless without interference. I am very satisfied with this device!

I bought this for my acoustic violin and plug it into the Fishman violin pickup. It works really well, but there is something rattling inside of it. It vibrates whenever I play on my G string. It is a bit annoying and it makes me worried for how long it will last. But so far it's great and the audience doesn't notice the vibrating.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
