Have a TH30 and a Rockerverb MkIII 50W... I use this one much more, it does high gain and that classic rock tone too. If the shape knob bothers you throw an EQ pedal in the loop and Voila, tweek away.

People that complain about the dirty channel need to learn about this new thing called preamp tubes. You can change them. Throw a cleaner tube in dirt channel. It works very very very well..

I've been playing this amp, through an Orange 4x12, for 9 years. It's the absolute best. Unrivaled tone - both clean and dirty. Why even bother running a 100W head (where you'll never come close to pushing the amplifier) when you can use a 30W and have access to a variety of soundscapes. The ability to switch down to 15W and 7W is also quite handy for getting warmer, crunchier tones or when lower volume is desired.
It would perhaps be nice to have a reverb feature built into the amp, but isn't that what pedals are for?
Zero complaints. Best amp I've ever used.

This amp is amazing. Chimey cleans to full on metal filth and everything in between. Simple control layout and built like a tank. This is very much a no frills amp for those who like simplicity. Pair this with a PPC212 cab and it's heavenly.
I know a lot of people have griped about the Shape control (I don't know why) but this amp encompasses the best of Orange's line of amps in to one package. All at the turn of a single knob! If you like simplicity and getting a wide array of dirty tones with sparkling cleans then get this amp.

I owned a TH30C for about 18 months. The clean channel is absolutely fantastic...warm and beautiful yet chimey, and it takes dirt pedals extremely well. It also has a simply amazing non-master volume vintage dirt tone when you dime the volume.
The dirty channel is just terrible though...I tried everything to get a good tone out of the dirty channel - lots of different aftermarket pickups in my several different high-end Gibsons, changing pickup heights, rolled lots of different preamp and power tubes, even replaced the harsh, trebly Voice of The World 12" speaker with a Vintage 30. The gain on this amp just plain sucks...it's fizzy and flat-sounding at all gain settings. I guess that it might be ok for some kinds of metal, but for hard rock, classic rock, stoner rock...forget it...sounds terrible. I used my Bogner Blue through the clean channel for dirt tones, wayyyyy better than the useless dirty channel. Eventually I gave up on the TH30 and sold it to get a Rockerverb MK I and it sounds just amazing out of the box. Then I also got a Rocker 15 combo for a grab and go...simply amazing tone as well!
Avoid the TH30, there are much better Orange amps out there.

This was my first tube amp. After hours of research, comparing, and price matching different brands and models, I knew I wanted an Orange. The TH30 seemed like the best suited to my playing style and the best bang for my buck.
Since you can change the output to half the tubes, and half the power, you can jam in your room at 7W, jam with a drummer friend at 15W, and play a big gig at 30W. I only play in my basement currently, and have it set at 7W, and I have not put the volume past 3 or 4.
I was all about getting that famous Orange gain, and heard clean channel on this amp was good enough, but, after playing for months, I'm more impressed with the clean channel. Its is beautiful warm, lots of variability even though theres only a bass and treble knobs available. Dirty channel is great, It has that classic British gain, which I find a little flat. I palce an OD pedal (Maxon OD9) in front of my amp (not in the fx loop) and it gives it all the boost I need, and I can go from a classic rock tone to a groove/doom/post metal tone metal tone no problem.
The buffered fx loop lets you plug in tons of pedals without losing tone/getting signal interference, and you don't necessarily need to worry about true bypass as much, as the buffering helps prevent tone-suck.
The TH30 is relatively cheaper than other Orange models as it uses Chinese tubes and parts (easy enough to replace the tubes), but I have absolutely no complaints. And the amp sounds so god damn good, I'm not sure I want to change anything regardless.
Unbelievable amp, ignore the 'Chinese parts' worry, and embrace it because this amp sounds like it should be worth well over $2,000.

I've been a Fender player for 30 years at my gigs and practice(mostly Blues deluxe, but also Super, Twin, Hotrod). Once in a while I'd use my PV Classic 30 but was looking for something new. Over the past 2 years I have owned and sold Marshall, DSL40, Mesa MarkV 35, Fender Bassbreaker....none delivered that awesome clean tone with the ability to take overdrive pedals on the clean channel plus a higher gain channel that sounded great. That is until I bought the Orange TH-30....wow. Reputation for these suggests only good for the crunch channel, but no! The clean channel is amazing. Focused, brilliant, crisp, yet warm ...very different from Fender...but be careful you may not go back. Takes pedals like nobody's business and has headroom for days. Ended up pairing it with the Traynor 1x12 cab with removable rear panel and it is a sound which I love....destination finally reached in the guitar amp tone search.

There's nothing to dislike about this amp. If you need tones of headroom, the 100 watt version is available. But you don't need the 100 watt version to be loud. This amp is plenty loud. On the clean channel, it takes all your boost/overdrive/distortion/compression pedals nicely through the front end. Compression is nice on the gain channel as well. The gain channel has tones of articulate distortion and easy to use with the tone shaper knob. All your delay/chorus/reverb pedals sound great through the effects loop. Although beginners might find this amp unforgiving, I used the Diamond compressor in the front end, and that helped to simmer things done. Gives you more chug on heavy distortion as well. Another important note is: because of the simple design, it takes well to expensive tubes. Borrow the Orange VT1000 tube tester. (I think L&M should rent these) and mix and match tubes to zero in on your tone. I put an NOS $80.00 12AX7 in the V1 position, and NOS EL84s for the power tubes. It really changed the tone and absolutely kills!!! I was lucky, the power tubes matched the bias settings of the original JJs. That's where the tube tester is handy. It's light enough to have the head in one hand, the Orange 1x12 cab in the other, and your effects board in your knapsack for gigging. To sum up ... there's no unnecessary switches that can break, easy and quick to dial in your tone, light enough to carry around. Drawbacks? The gain channel is limited to British blues/metal. But this can be overcome by running your EVH distortion pedal etc., through the wonderful clean channel of this amp. Did I mention, the clean channel of this amp is particularly impressive for seasoned guitar players. My friend's impression? Sweet!

While ive only owned for a few days now I can easily say if you are a 70s 80s rocker blues type of person who is low on cash this is the amp you need. i gave the controls a rating of 9 . while this might seem askew of logic to all the oldschool JCM tweakers, you really have to try what i find to be the simplest set of gain and tone controls ever. the shape and gain on dirty have a truly massive range of tones. the best part it makes going back to tones i find really easy. plenty loud and feels "right" with the 412 orange cab i paired it with. Store service was spot on for my experiance. Spent over an hour in the test room with an employee that really listened to what i was after and delivered with the heads i tested. repeat visits have netted me a great deal on cables etc. Will definately be getting more gear here!!

Solid, reliable, "fire it up and forget about it" type of amp.
Surprisingly versatile considering the lack of options on the front panel. The Dirty channel can do pretty much anything you want. Beatles, Zep, Stevie Ray, Metallica etc.. The shape knob is genius. I was a bit skeptical about it at first but I'm over that now. Still it's understandable if you'd want to add an eq pedal to the circuit. The Gain knob is one of the most responsive I've ever used!
Clean channel is great. Goes with pedals real well. But I found that it lacked headroom a bit. This is okay for me as I like a bit of dirt with my clean. Still you can get a nice punchy Jazz tone if you roll back on the guitar volume knob a bit.
There is no form of guitar music I can think of that this amp would not apply to. It's very easy to get the sound you want with it. There is also no environmental applications that this amp won't perform amazingly under as well. (except maybe stadium rock, In which case, use the P.A.) You can do the quiet bedroom recording thing, or the loud crazy club rock stuff with this. It's a loud 30 watter.
I found the output switch a bit limited. It gives you different tones, but does very little in terms volume attenuation. If you want a good overdrive tone I suggest you open her up a bit anyway.
The amp is very unforgiving in terms of your playing technique. It won't hide your fingering errors. If you make a lot of soloing mistakes, get a Big Muff.
Some may argue that it's "simplistic" "generic" or a "jack of all trades/master of none". These people are probably biased, or insane.
In my opinion, this is one of the most sensible amps on the market right now.

Amazing 30 watt head. Sits well in the mix of a band. Clean channel is great nice,full body sound can get chimey if you want. The dirty channel goes from mild to heavy and the shape control works very well. The thing I like is the half power switches this changes the sound quite a bit plus it lowers your volume.There is not much on the amp but less is more in this case- highly recommended.

As far as metal, hard rock and blues tones, this amp is amazing. It has the most gain out of any of the other orange amps, so you can really dial in without relying on distortion pedals. Though it's rated at 30 w, you'll find it louder than most 50 w with celestions of the same price range. Clean channel is nice and chimey with a little distortion at full volume but a full tone. A side by side comparison to the 50 w shows the power of this 30 w with 4 tubes powering it. Great amp.
