Pedigreed shredders from the '80s, Pro-Mod San Dimas guitars are packed with high-speed playability and innovative design elements that epitomize Charvel's definitive combination of time-honoured style and modern features, power and performance.

The Pro-Mod San Dimas Style 2 HH FR QM offers an alder body with quilt maple top and a two-piece bolt-on maple neck with graphite reinforcement rods for rock-solid stability, despite the ravages of the road and climate. Engineered for effortlessly nimble and highly-expressive playing, this guitar has a speed neck profile, a 12"-16" compound radius dark rosewood fingerboard with hand-rubbed urethane gel back finish, 22 jumbo frets, white dot inlays and a convenient thumbwheel truss rod butt-adjust for easy access.

Hot-rodded for unparalleled performance and versatile sound, this instrument is equipped with a high-output Seymour Duncan JB TB-4 humbucking bridge pickup and a warm, fat Seymour Duncan '59 SH-1N humbucking neck pickup for killer tone, controlled with a three-way blade switch. The volume control hides a push/pull coil split for even more highly useful tonal variations - ideal for everything from a biting lead sound to thick, chunky rhythm work, while the No-Load tone control operates like a standard tone control from positions one through nine, removing itself from the circuit at position ten for transparent sound, letting the full natural voice of the guitar shine through.

Scream or rumble with a Floyd Rose double-locking recessed tremolo and locking nut without sacrificing tuning stability or the pinpoint intonation.

I purchased one of these new late last year before they were discontinued for the new 2020 line. I've been playing Wolfgangs for 7 years and this is the only other guitar I have had interest in since then. Great price for what you get and I see no build quality issues at all. Its not a USA Floyd Rose tremolo but it works perfect and sounds killer. The Seymore Duncan pickups sounds as they should. I prefer 22 fret guitars (for 2020 its 24 frets). The body contours are awesome as is the input jack design and low profile heel. Its not a well balanced guitar and is a bit heavy on the headstock which makes it head dive a bit but not as bad as a SG. For 2020 they started roasting the maple necks which I believe would be an improvement for this guitar however no issues that way so far as neck is stable. Also for 2020 a traditional Tele style headstock is used which I believe would be better on these guitars for looks and balance. The neck profile is simply one of the best going. It feels just like the early 80's Charvel Zappa Profile that made them famous. Killer playing guitar! Three way selector works adequately, a coil tap is included and the single coil tones are perfect for 80's music so don't expect vintage strat tones but do expect killer 80's strat tones. All hardware, though not USA, works well. The top is beautiful however I did notice some issues with the clear coat that the guys at L&M said is called crystallization and is a result of our dry climate. Its noticeable only when lights hits it at the correct angle. I'm not big on owning $5000 dollar guitars anymore. I find the quality from the big brands is unacceptable for what you have to pay just to say its hand made in the USA. Add to that, hand made in the USA doesn't always mean top quality especially when it comes to the established big brand names. When I do spend a $2 to $5K on a guitar again it will be with a smaller builder who sells direct to the end user saving huge middle man mark up such as Kiesel guitars. Low margins, excellent quality control, supper responsive to customer feedback, many many options for total customization. The only other way to get that right now is go with overseas products that ship direct to local dealer like EVH WG Standards, Chapman and this Charvel line of guitars however no customizing just good customer feedback to add features players want. When overseas manufacturers starts building great quality guitars that are totally customizable and ship direct to the dealer or end user then its a game changer I would be totally into.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
