This was on my 'someday? list, and yesterday I made that happen. Wow - just, wow. It's got so many subtle sound options, beautiful ambient chorus; if you don't own this pedal, you should. It's useful for just adding some depth and space to your sound. I love it.

I own the original. I've flipped a mint original for too much money on Reverb. I'm telling you - this pedal sounds better. A lot better.

Roland/Boss got this one right. I own the original 80s version, and this one sound a tad 'brighter' to my ears (give the electronics a few years to age to achieve that 'warm' sound). The SDD-320 mode is a bonus as you can press various 'button' combinations, (a lacking feature on the original). I also own the rack SDD-320 Dimension-D (Roland Rack System from the early 80s). This little guy nails that sound, but lacks the headroom of the rack, which is designed for studio work. Overall, I am impressed, and is now sitting comfortable in my pedal board next to the Boss SY-1. Cheers

So whoever left the review saying that this is a versatile pedal ranging from subtle chorus to almost phaser like modulation is totally in another Dimension, 7 maybe? Anyway, kidding aside, heres the low down. This pedal is definitely versatile in that it can be really quite subtle and can be a pretty noticeable effect, but I would not call it swirly, heavy modulated sound. If anything it sounds phasey, which makes the width sound bigger , but it doesnt modulate like alot of phasors or flangers, its definitely more subtle. This pedal is a faithful recreation of the original boss Dimension C pedal, but it also adds the SDD-320 mode that emulates the Original Roland Dimension D rack, and also allows you to select between any combination of settings 1-4. Part of what makes this thing and the Dimension D rack unique is its signal path. The effect is achieved by using dual modulation sections running out‑of‑phase with each other, each having its own internally set depth and rate parameters, along with cross‑feedback networks that connect the sections. Adding feedback in this way adds further complexity to the effect, giving the impression that there are more than two modulation processes at work — so you don’t hear the familiar churning sound inherent in typical chorus effects. And furthermore the Dual out of phase modulation sections are then mixed back in with the 100% dry signal, so that your original tone and punch arent compromised. Okay what else. Oh , it can either be used in mono, or sterio if you wanted to use a sterio cab setup or something. It sounds great in mono in my opinion, but the real width and depth this thing creates is really only appreciated in sterio. It sounds good infront of an amp or in an FX loop. With Bass guitar its cool, but cuts some of the low end I find. This is an all analog pedal though I am pretty sure that Boss is using alot of surface mount components as opposed to through hole. For this price, I would have like to see a through hole pedal, but thats a nitpick , sort of. I have no beef with the sound of surface mount, but what bugs me is if anything breaks or components need replacing its not easy like it is to solder through hole, and would be harder to find components. Other than that, great pedal, and its definitely unique. How would I describe it? Like a subtle, phasey, but thick and lush sounding chorus, with a very gentle modulation/movement.

When I went shopping to complete my pedalboard, I had in mind this pedal, and a tuner pedal. I plugged into this pedal for the first time, and was amazed, so I proceeded to purchase it. A guitarist who I play with at church came over to practice songs, and I let him play through it. He previously had a boss CH-1, and he now wants to trade it in for this pedal! This is the best of the best for subtle modulation effects! It sounds like a chorus, but preserves your tone, and doesn’t have the chorus wobble that people may like. I would buy it at any price, even if it’s one cent, or it it’s more expensive than stacking a Klon Centaur and vintage TS808 into a wall of Dumble Overdrive Special full stacks. I feel it was worth the purchase. No regrets.

this pedal is awesome. It sounds like every chorusy 80s song ever. This had to be used by Alex Lifeson. It is very Rush sounding. But ya I'm really liking this one.

Surprisingly versatile. Can range from very lush thick chorusing to subtile, almost phaser-like modulation with just the click of a couple of buttons.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
