I had an AAX 18? stage crash back in the 90s. It was not to my taste.
Fast forward 20 years and I struck one of these in store. O M G. What a difference 20 years makes! I'm fatter, balder and even worse a player! But enough about me!
This cymbal is one of the best crashes I've played. Ever. It's sound at low volume is as rich as when struck hard. When hit hard it's delivery is a soft as when it's hit soft. It's just amazing, full bodied colour.
I'm now a Sabian fan. In 3 weeks I've bought an evolution ride and a pair of hats. I'm searching for a 17? crash to complete the line up now. Go buy one!

I grabbed a pair of these (a 17 and an 18?) on Black Friday simply because my 17 and 18 AA thins are quite old. Very happy with the over all tone and sound. Much darker than expected, almost getting into HHX terratory. Quite thin and responsive, they open up quickly and have a fairly fast decay as well. They feel great under stick, and look great too. I'm very happy with them and would recommend them for sure.

Saw this cymbal at the Black Friday sale. I've tried AAX in the past but found them piercing and nasally sounding. I gave this cymbal a tap and it opened up so easily. I found the other one they had and it was just as lush sounding with a much warmer and full sound than any AAX I've ever heard. 129 is crazy cheap for any pro cymbal. Just like the title, close your eyes and you are striking Dave Weckl's finest, for a third of the price. Fits in perfectly with my 16,18, 20 Evolution rig. Go get the second one before I head back and grab it. $129 is dinner for two at the Keg, or a killer crash.
