APX's thin-line body combines incredible comfort, easy top-fret access and a sound perfectly suited to on-stage use with bright, clear mids, balanced highs and controlled lows. Specially designed, non-scalloped, X-type bracing allows the guitar's top to sing and maximizes the resonance of the unique body shape for a full, natural tone. With dynamics, sensitivity and clarity built into the design from day one, APX is a guitar not to be underestimated.

The 700 series guitars feature styling and specifications driven by the 1000-series guitars, but with the exclusive ART pickup system. Designed to capture the guitar's full body resonance, ART's ability to faithfully recreate natural tone and dynamics means that the subtle differences between APX and CPX guitars are perfectly recreated, allowing you to pick the guitar that suits your style and know that character will always shine through.

I seriously love this guitar. It plays really great and has a fast neck. It reminds me a lot of my electric. I think for the price you're getting a really good deal. On-board tuner + a really nuanced electronic system that is more robust than what is found on the entry-level Taylors. This is a dream for gigs and sounds great through an amp. The thin-line body really helps cut down the feedback.

Was looking for Acoustic Electric guitar. Tried several different guitars at L&M Peterborough store. Went back 3 times to see and listen to this guitar and finally bought it. Love this guitar. It is very comfortable to play and sounds great amplified and not amplified, Big thank you to John Ellis at L&M for recommending this guitar. Ron B

This guitar is very deceiving for the price. I scored a used one in perfect new condition. I’ve been playing guitar for 24 yrs almost always electric and I thought it was time to invest in a decent acoustic, I’ve just owned a couple of cheap ones for fiddling and recording. I was looking at Martin, Taylor, Fender etc but the L&M boys highly recommended I check the Yamaha guitars out. I picked this one up to play and the first thing I noticed was the thinner body but don’t let that fool you this guitar oozes tone. It’s very comfortable to hold and play and the intonation is perfection even changing between string gauges. I love the concert body for a fuller more rounded out tone and the thin body makes it way more comfortable to play compared to full size concert/auditorium acoustics. Holds tune very well since I only pick it up once a week or so I rarely have to fine tune it. The pickup is great very detailed and not too boomy compared to others I tried plugged in where the bass dominated the highs and mids. Very easy to fine tune I am very happy with this guitar played like some of the higher end Taylor’s and Martins and way better then any of the Fenders I tried.

This guitar is all-around great, unplugged and plugged. Unplugged, the lows are quieter but it can still compete with dreadnoughts and jumbos. Plugged, it sounds crystal clear and uncoloured. Very happy with it.

Just started playing and wanted an acoustic guitar that was easy to learn on. The thin line design is excellent for a beginner as you can watch your fingering without the guitar being in an awkward position. You really feel like you have control of it. It sounds great to me but, you can read reviews from more accomplished players as to the quality of the sound. They seem more than satisfied with it from what I read. If you want to save a few more $$, look at the APX500II. Same guitar, the 700 has a couple of upgrades (solid spruce to as opposed to laminated spruce top as well as an upgraded pickup.) Also, the support team at Yamaha was quick to answer questions I had (like which strings to use, action, etc.) Bottom line, couldn't be happier with it. Thanks to Barry at Yamaha and Elizabeth at L & M Kanata for all your help. Definitely recommend this for anyone in the market for an acoustic/electric.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
