The 20" AAX Thin Crash from SABIAN introduces a whole new palette of sound to the AAX line. A smaller raw bell than typically found on larger crashes delivers fast response. A whole new style of AAX hammering - much more visible on the surface of the cymbal due to the larger, rounder peen - makes for a thinner, more complex and slightly darker crash. At the same time, more highs are introduced into the sound, resulting in a wider band of frequency. For drummers, that means brighter highs and more complex lows. SABIAN has always pushed the boundaries of innovation, using the latest manufacturing technology to answer new trends in music and sound. AAX Thin Crashes are no exception, answering the call for thinner, faster, more complex crashes.

I had the HHX Evolutions originally, great cymbals. These are very similar. I've owned the 18" Evolution and compared it directly to the 18" & 19" AAX Thins. The 18" AAX is slightly higher pitched than the Evolution, but otherwise very similar. The difference is these can be had for roughly $100 less.
I've gone through about 15 different crashes over the years and I'm settled on these. Perfectly balanced. Some warmth and complexity in the shimmer but with glassy "sparkle" in the top end. Very lush. The older Sabian AA's & AAX's always sounded a bit bland to me. I preferred Zildjian until I found the HHX line & now the new AAX line.
