Songwriter Deluxe Studio
At the heart of Gibsons square-shoulder dreadnought line of acoustic guitars is the Songwriter series, and the Songwriter Deluxe Studio is its most fundamental offering. First introduced in 2003, the Songwriter Deluxe Studio combines Gibsons time-honored bracing patterns of the 1930s with our original dreadnought shape, and it has gained worldwide acclaim over the past decade.

Gold Grover Rotomatic Tuners
Grovers original Rotomatic tuners are an engineering marvel, with abundant style and performance exactly suited for the Songwriter Deluxe Studio. With a gear ratio of 14:1, the Rotomatics deliver precision tuning in a durable housing that provides maximum protection for the gear and string post. All moving parts are cut for exact meshing, eliminating the possibility of slippage. A countersunk tension screw lets players regulate the tuning tension to any degree. A special lubricant inside the gear box provides smooth and accurate tuning stability.

Crown Peghead Logo
Gibson put the first crown peghead logo on an ES-300 back in 1940, and it has graced the headstocks of many legendary Gibson guitars ever since, including todays Songwriter Deluxe Studio.

Pickguard
The pickguard on the Songwriter Deluxe Studio is a custom line design made in our traditional tortoise shell pattern material.

Rosette
A rosette is the beautiful, hand-crafted circle around the soundhole and can be one of the most beautiful elements of any acoustic guitar. It is also one of the most subtle and complicated woodworking ornamentations. The rosette on the Songwriter Deluxe Studio is one of Gibsons finest. It is a double-ring rosette with an abalone-filled middle, with both outer rings consisting of six-ply binding, which ads a stylish, understated elegance to the Songwriter line.

Rosewood Fingerboard with Rolled Edges and Split Parallelogram Inlays
The fingerboard of Gibsons Songwriter Deluxe Studio is constructed from rosewood. The resilience of this durable wood makes the fingerboard extremely balanced and stable, giving each single note and chord unparalleled bite and clarity. The Songwriter Deluxe Studios split parallelogram inlays are made of genuine mother-of-pearl and are placed into the fingerboard using a process that eliminates gaps and doesnt require the use of fillers. The fingerboard also features a beveled edge for an extremely smooth and comfortable feel, enhancing the playability of the Songwriter Deluxe Studio.

Body Tonewoods
The body design of the Songwriter Deluxe Studio is known as a small dreadnought. The top is made from Sitka spruce, while the back and sides are constructed from rosewood, giving it a balanced, warm tone with clear lows and solid treble registers. Selecting the right wood, and the formula to acclimate it properly, are two of the most central procedures to Gibsons guitar-building process. Beginning with its first catalog in 1903, Gibson has assured its customers that every guitar would be built using woods with the most durable, elastic, and sonorous qualities, and todays guitars from Gibson Acoustic are no different.

L.R. Baggs Element Active Acoustic Pickup System
The Songwriter Deluxe Studio from Gibson Acoustic comes equipped with the popular Element Active Acoustic Pickup System from L.R. Baggs, which features a low-profile undersaddle elementor transducerthats proven more stable and durable than many standard ribbon-type pickups. Combined with an onboard preamp with an unobtrusive and removable volume control mounted just inside the soundhole, the Element delivers performance not previously attainable from an undersaddle pickup. Its sleek and effective design removes unnecessary internal components, which enhances the coupling between pickup and guitar and improves the sensitivity of the transducer. The result is a robust, lively and natural acoustic sound with excellent dynamics and a delicate high end. The Element works with a standard 9V battery, which is housed inside the guitar in L.R. Baggss new Battery Bagg.

Bracing
Every acoustic guitar made by Gibson features scalloped, radiused top-bracing inside the body. By scalloping each brace, the natural sound of the acoustic is focused more toward the center of the body, enhancing the instruments sound projection. The bracing pattern inside the Songwriter Deluxe Studio is based on the design used for Gibsons celebrated Advanced Jumbo models of the 1930s. The bracing pattern consists of a wider X pattern that allows the top to vibrate more freely and push the sound toward the soundhole. The result is an instrument that delivers incredible response and a superior dynamic range with balanced, warm tones, clear lows and solid treble registers.

I began learning to play guitar at 70. Wonderful guitar. Nice tone, easy on the fingers and just what an old guy needs to learn on. Was undecided between this guitar and Martin D-28 and tone on Studio and Gibson won out.

Found this beauty when I decided to get my first quality steel string acoustic. I was looking at Martin and Taylor but after trying this, it was love at the first sight. I like the look and the tone is just right for my taste. I don't go anywhere without it now. The one in their video is an older model and the newer ones have the tune and volume control in the hole which I like much better.

When i bought my Songwriter I had spent 2 years searching for the acoustic guitar that was going to make me want to spend this kind of money. Taylors were gorgeous but too jangly. The only Martin that inspired me was the D35, and for that kind of money the Martins were too plain jane for my liking. Among the Gibsons, I thought I wanted a J45 but I preferred the Hummingbirds and Songwriters, which were similar. Both are LOUD, but with a tight low end and a lot of brightness and upper mids. It feels and plays like a dream and is a gorgeous guitar; plenty of tasteful bling without getting into pimped out Hummingbird territory). I like how Gibson puts the pickup controls inside the sound hole, and the moustache bridge looks awesome. Chords are big and rich when strummed and fingerpicked notes pop. You never hear anybody bragging and going on about Songwriter Studios, but they should! It's the only guitar you'll ever need.

I had pretty much lost all interest in playing the acoustic guitar. I have been focused more on my electrics and realized that possibly it was because my electrics are high end Les Paul's, Fender's etc. and my acoustic was an older Norman that I have had for years. I went into Long and Mcquade and spent some time in the acoustic room trying out Martin's, Gibson's, Taylor's and Larrivee's. I fell in love with this guitar, the sound, the look, the playability when strumming our finger picking is fantastic and nothing vibrates in your chest like a Gibson acoustic. I have heard the older your Gibson gets and the more you play it, it opens up the sound quality increases. I have only had mine for a couple of weeks and I can already hear this happening. And the smell when playing it is like no other acoustic I have played. An amazing guitar that has inspired me back into playing the acoustic again.

I was a Gibson owner in the mid 70's with a Hummingbird that was a POS! Avoided Gibsons for years until I picked up my SWD at L&M and fell in love. Amazing tone, delicate voicing... can be strummed hard or lightly for fingerstyle. Beautiful new Gibson body shape.

I purchased my songwriter deluxe 3 years ago. I have had it to my local Gibson dealer twice to sort out open high E string buzzing . They could not get it right. Also the frets are protruding from the side of the neck and are quite sharp and the action is quite high. My problem is I have only really started playing it as I have been working abroad. Beautiful looking guitar with great sound but overall not happy with it.

I just bought this at the end of Oct 2012 and this is an amazing acoustic guitar. It looks fantastic, smells great ( the rich woods ) and plays even better. I wanted to get something special to play and since I love playing acoustic guitar so much this is the guitar for me. Great pick-up and tone controls with such incredible warm sustain - You must try this guitar and if you can, buy one- you won't regret it.

I came from the electric blues world and I have been in the quest fore "THE" acoustic guitar for over 20 years. During those years, I have tried pretty much all models from Martin, Guild, Taylor, Gibson. I tried the Songwriter 6-7 years ago and that is the one that matched the sound in my head (very balanced with clear cutting bass, udge projection, capable of handling heavy strumming as much as findgerpicking with or without flat or thumb pick). What makes the Songwriter capable of achieving this is the smaller dreadnought body coupled with 80/20 strings that is a perfect match for this guitar. I finally bought mine in April 2012 and I could not be happier (I stop by my local L&M store about 2 times per month and have subsequently tried other Martin & Taylor and yes, I made the best choice). One of the thing that may turn off a few players is how the sound of this Gibson projects more from the soundhole than from the top. When you pick up a Martin, you can hear and feel it coming from the top. Most players strum the strings between the soundhole and the bridge...however that Gibson cries to be strummed right over the soundhole, and it pays you back with a very rich, balanced and nice resonant bass sound. I have ben strumming mine hard every day since April, I even went with Medium strings for about 6 weeks, and after about a total of 12 to 14 weeks, I have noticed how she is now opening up at the top. I can now strum her between the soundhole and bridge and I have that nice projection from the top that you get from a Martin HD-28. That Gibson Songwriter is so much better looking than everything else under $3,000, so much more balanced, so much richer. If you are looking to own one guitar that does it all, this is the one. This is the Les Paul of acoustics, but will defend its place in a blue grass jam, country picking & singing, or just about everything else you can think of (I play Jessy Cook's rumba on mine...)

When i went looking for a professional grade guitar I was thinking Taylor or Martin. The sales tech in Stratford had me try some Gibsons too. The Songwiters sound was just slightly less than the Martin D-18 I tried, but the look of the guitar was head and shoulders above it. The thing with Martins is that a $4000 one looks the same as a $1000 one. I want it to LOOK like quality as well as sound great. When compared to a slightly more expensive Gibson J-45 and a $600 more Hummingbird, the Songwriter blew them away in terms of sound quality. If you're looking for a professional level guitar, don't just look at Martin and Taylor. Handmade guitars will always differ in quality and sound, but a well built Gibson will rise above all of them. And the suggested list price for this guitar is over $3000. You will not find better prices ANYWHERE than at Long and McQuade!

I love it. The tone and sound are worth the price alone. Add in the extras and this is a guitar well worth owning.

Performance Warranty Banner
