I love it. Nothing like cheaper Squires. Proper copper windings and magnets in pickups give this Tele a full rich sound. Like the Pine grain and excellent finish. A little heftier than my Fender Tele.

I read all the reviews and had to have one. I must say its the best fender I have ever played. The neck is smooth and frets are great. I tuned it right out of the shipping box and it played unreal. The finish is stunning and the build quality is excellent. Price point and value for money is superb. If you were looking to buy a good affordable tele this is it! Put it this way I just put in an order for a second one to be delivered to me. beginner or pro if you want a tele but wanna save some cash, take it from me, close your internet browser window go start your car and go to your local Long and McQuade and buy one you wont regret it!

Closest Store   Cobourg, Ontario
Went in to L&M today in Cobourg and tried a bunch. I went there for a black American Special on sale for $1200 but wasn't sold. I tried the $2K Am Std, $1400 American Something and the $900 and $1100 MIM models. I tried a used Squire (looked really good in white with maple neck) going for $250; it hurt. The fret tangs were killer and it felt overall worth $250 but not more. I tried the Squire CV and was rather shocked. It was smooth (lots of poly) with great fit and finish. The pine slab was really great. The sound? ok I guess. I don't really play electric through my amps much anymore. Now over 60 I generally appreciate guitars for looks and feel unplugged (I don't actually play much anymore). I have a bunch of hq guitars but not a Tele (traded it and 2 others in on my LP a coupe years ago...love my LP Trad). I am very interested in adding this one to my guitar room. You'll love it too!

I bought mine from a guy who had a little 59 HM in it... it didn't sound well at all. I had it up for sale...then decided i best keep it cause so much was good about it...then i found Vineham online and had a new bridge put in..... now, it sounds like a telecaster...wow! As good as any tele you will ever play, better sound than made in usa probably because of the Vineham pup i am sure. I am so proud of this guitar, all the country and old time rock sound i will ever need.

I've been in the market for a Tele for quite a while, spending hours on Kijiji and Craigslist in an effort to get a good deal. Little did I know it was waiting for me the whole time at my local L&M. You're not going to find a better deal than this. The quality of the guitar is outstanding, and I love the classic features. The neck is the fastest and smoothest of all the Teles I've tried, including top-level USA Fenders. The finish quality is outstanding. The sound is awesome. So don't hold out for a used Fender, or break the bank for a new MIM (relatively speaking) or USA instrument. Try it and you'll buy it.

Mine is perfect in every way. Fret ends are more smooth then any of the American made Fender's I have owned in the past. Fit and finish is good, and the setup was good out of the box. The tuners seem to stay in tune perfectly fine and I really like the sound of the pickups. If your looking for a gig worthy tele for a great price you can't go wrong

Plays surprisingly well for a cheap Telecaster. Pickups are clean and don't buzz or hum, good neck profile, great tuners. Only big gripe is that rolling off tone and volume has about 3 stops - on my Gibson LP, I can roll down either one with a ton of variation where as the Squier goes from 10-9-8-7 and then falls off into one muddy tone or almost no volume. Fixable problem with new hardware or just buying a higher quality instrument, but there's nothing wrong with this thing. It's a good instrument for all levels of players.

I bought this guitar because I couldn't afford the 52 reissue. But when I unpacked it , I fell in love with it! It is flawless! Really couldn't believe the attention to detail. Not a blemish anywhere. As with any guitar there are a few things that I need to point out. First off, I personally like large frets, and I find these small for my taste. Playable, but I'd love to put jumbos on it. Next, there was an overtone on the G string, (ringing from the tuner to the nut). I put a small rubber stopper I found under the string, and problem solved. Perhaps I'll add another string tree one day. Had some intermittent electronical scratching, but a bit of wd40 cleaned that up (I know people frown upon that, but it's easier than changing pots). These are really trivial things that any guitar at any pricw can have. All in all I adore this guitar! It just souds amazing! Pluggeg or unplugged it just resonates!! 2 thumbs up!!

this guitar is by far one of my favourite electric guitars to play and i have a USA Strat and Les Paul it just has that tele sound i love. My guitar teacher who has played loads of new fender tele's and old tele's such as some from the early 60's and he said this rivals them. i originally bought this guitar to mod but the only thing i did was shaved the laker off the back of the neck (surprisingly vary easy to do with good medium to fine grad sand paper) anyways would buy another and not even think twice about it great guitar.

This is an awesome guitar! I've been eye-balling one of these for almost a year now. I finally pulled the trigger today. Put on a set of 10's and a quick setup and this one is ready to go. The neck pickup sounds almost identical to my American Strat neck pickup. I'm done with American built guitars. This is my 3rd Chinese built guitar in 3 years and I have no regrets. Highly recommended!!

I just got one of these and I was blown away with the quality and sound of this Telecaster. I did a side by side comparison both on sound and looks to my Fender American Vintage 52 re-issue and it was amazing. The Squier has definitely the looks and tone on the 52. The body is made of pine but Leo apparently made his first solid bodies out of pine. The retro butterscotch look is also definitely there. The pine wood coupled with the maple neck and alnico pickups give it that true to tone tele spank! If you are thinking of a guitar to get this Christmas, this is by far the best value and best true to original tone you can get for your money!

I've owned this now for about 6 months and am as happy now as when I bought it. I already own an American Standard '95 Strat and American G&L Asat Custom so I think I know what good guitars play, sound and feel like. Now that I'm older(!) the brand isn't as important to me as when I was younger so the Squier name isn't a put off. Check YouTube for reviews and you will be impressed. In summary, fit, finish, feel and sound are superb for the money. If I didn't know this was a cheap Tele I wouldn't know it was a cheap Tele. Sound wise I haven't A/B'd it against an American so I can't say that it is better. To my ears it is very good and that's really what counts. If you check Kijiji you will see that these guitars almost never come up for sale. I've been watching in Winnipeg for a year and have seen 2 for sale and I bought one of them. Just goes to show that once people buy them they don't get rid of them. Hope that helps.

I tried at the store and was blown away. Came back a few days later and got one. I had to set it up a little as the demo was gone, but was very, very happy. Body is soft wood and will get dinged easier than other guitars. Also I found that seasonal changes in set up were needed, but not a big deal. This guitar really is nicer to play than a Mexican Tele IMO. The PUs sound good and I haven't thought of changing them out. I own some nice pieces and this is the kind of instrument that will inspire you to play things that may not have thought to play with the same old.

Bought this(maple fretboard) on a whim to see how it compared with my 64 Tele(rosewood). I paid $299.00 with a Fender case in 1964 and $360.00 without a case for the Classic Vibe in 2012. The stock Alnicos were quite good but the bridge pu needed a little more oomph so I put a SD hot rails in it. Apart from the medium jumbo frets on the Squier(the 64 came with mediums) you would be hard pressed to tell the difference on a blind test. They are just that close.

My wife got me this guitar for a Christmas present, and I was blown away by the quality,of the instrument. I have played pre CBS Telecasters, and while there sound was transcendent, the feel was horrible to me, this guitar feels perfect, and was in tune and perfectly intonated right out of the box. I love this guitar through my Vox AC15C1. I run a project studio, and was looking for a good all-round recording rig that wouldn't give me a heart attack if a client dropped it. The only thing I had to do was dampen the springs on the bridge pick-up with some electrical tape to stop them from ringing.

If I could give this guitar 100 for value, I would. True to its working man's guitar status, this axe is nothing more (yet so much more) than 2 planks of wood, some wires and magnets. Transcendental.

I bought this blonde classic vibe and at first was dissapointed with its sustain and how it cut through the mix honestly was I going to return it..I then took a moment and set the intonation lowerd the action and raised the pups and omg its better than the usa top model or at least its equal and for 400 bucks. I played the 52 reissue and the vibe side by side at the store and couldnt see an 1800 dollar difference so I bought it and now that this baby is set up properly what a great guitar all hype aside. Ive been playing for 36 years and own many nice guitars from a silverburst les paul custom to a peavey evh standard deluxe cherry burst and this guitar belongs with these elite instruments.. IMO

I can't believe how good this guitar is let alone how inexpensive it is! I have 16 guitars (74 strat, les paul, D'angelico, godin etc...) and this is one my favorites! It's the first tele I've ever owned and it will be with me for a long time to come (assuming I live to 100!). Just like my first strat 40 years ago. It's a keeper.

I always said I would NEVER buy a Squire of any kind! I have played my fair share of them in my 36 years of playing. I got onto a video on You Tube about these Classic Vibe series of guitars and I was interested to see what the reviewers would say. I thought it was going to be like every other Squire, cheap and made of plywood and the worst possible electronics the company could throw in. Well I was wrong on every aspect of this guitar!!! After watching several reviews and reading in depth articles about this very guitar, I called L&M in Oshawa and said order me one I have to judge for myself. I didn't want to go in and play one, I wanted a fresh brand new never touched by store personnel or customers guitar. I got it 2 weeks later and brought it home and I was astonished by the weight, finish sound and playability of it. It was set up perfect right out of the box, low action not super low but low enough. It is just a fantastic guitar. If your skeptical about the Squire name , don't be! They have stepped up the brand for build quality wood and electronics used. Yes it is made or better yet CRAFTED as it states on the back of the headstock in China but don't let that deter you in any way! Amazing guitar and it is very comparable to a lot of mid to higher end made in Mexico Tele's and Strat's. Go get one before they are gone!

I was in the store buying a studio mic and tried out the regular Squires just because. Most of them were average starter guitars and as I owned an American Tele many years ago, I wasn't impressed. As I was leaving, I saw the CV and tried it. It was incredible. I left the store but had to go back 3 days later and buy that guitar. I showed it to a friend who immediately went out and bought one. I have since added a Fishman Piezo six saddle bridge with the pre-amp which gives this guitar an acoustic sound that I use a lot in church ministry and I have had absolutely no issues with this guitar. I also have a '74 Strat and an '81 Swede and I play the Tele more than any other of my many guitars.

Amazing range for a cheaper tele. Awesome treble for your Rolling Stones sound, cleans up real nice for blues, and you can get a great sound out of it for some grunge, folk, rockabilly, and rock n roll. Whether you're bending or sliding this thing NEVER goes out of tune. Low marks for features because it's a tele.

I always wanted a butterscotch blonde tele , but being a Gibson player, I could never justify paying 1600+ for a tele that I may never use. However, I haven't put it down since I brought it home. I read many positive reviews for this guitar. I spent about an hour trying out 2 of these at L&M, and was amazed at the feel and quality. Don't be fooled by the squier logo. This classic vibe tele is a really well built guitar.

I cant find a single bad thing to say about this little Gem. This was my very first electric guitar purchase (in July 2012), after playing acoustic for nearly 7 years and I can't believe how easy it is to play. I now have a Gretch, Les Paul Studio and and will have a new American Standard Strat tomorrow, all fantastic guitars but my little Squire is my Go-To favorite. Something about that Tele tone and the glossy maple fret board makes it super playable. Bends with those little 9's are almost effortless. My first amp was a Line 6 SpiderJam but I recently discovered the Fender Excelsior ($299) that REALLY brought my CV 50's Tele to Life with TUBES! OMG Killer Combo for under $800, You simply cant get better tone for that price!

I was lusting after one of these for the longest time after reading all the reviews on various telecaster forums. These were detailed reviews, written by true guitar gearheads and they universally raved about the CV50s. As soon as I held mine in my hands, I knew I wanted it. Everything about it works for me: the weight, the neck, the look, the sound, and the awesome playability. I have never developed such an attachment to a guitar so quickly. It's a wonderful instrument. And to answer the common question of "If it was stolen, would you buy another one?"...Hell yeah.

After reading many reviews I just had to have one. I have to say this is one of the best guitars I have ever played/owned. I own several high end guitars that are beautiful but the price difference is disturbing. I was expecting to tune it up when I got it home but didn't have to do a thing! Highly recommend this guitar!

Yes, 5 for features...it`s a Tele! They don`t come with a lot of bells and whistles. Love the finish on the maple fret board and nice sturdy feel to it. If you not a brand name hog and you are into Tele`s, give this little gem a whirl. I`d put it up against it`s big brother (Fender) any day (not knocking Fender in any way, they make great instruments) and just might buy another ;)

Don't be fooled by the name on the headstock. The quality, fit, and finish on this series is every bit as good as the Fender Standard line and in my opinion perhaps even better. No need to step outside the price realm of the Squier line as long as they keep building with this quality.

A lot of people may consider Squier to be a of a lower quality, however, if there's any guitar to trump expectations, it's the Classic Vibe telecasters. I have absolutely no complaints about the guitar. Feature-wise it's a rather simple, it's a tele. This guitar is sturdy. It resonates acoustically quite strongly no matter the note. It feels like a "higher quality" Fender guitar. While normally associated with country, I use my telecaster mainly for jazz, and some rock, within either genre, it's quite versatile. For jazz particularly, with thicker flatwound strings, it sounds wonderful. Try one if you can!

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
