I just finished an extensive audition of three different pairs of power tubes in my '73 Deluxe Reverb. I compared the JJ-6v6-S to a GE-5871 (NOS, a military equivalent to a 6v6) and to the famous RCA Blackplate (NOS, the holy grail of 6L6 tubes).
The GE-6v6 has very sweet breakup, and the RCA-6L6 has incredible, robust, glassy-sounding cleans. The JJ-6v6-S sits right in the middle of those two; it does not sound like a 6v6, or exactly like a 6L6 either, but more like a blend of both.
I like this tube very much, it has a great reputation, and it can handle much higher plate voltages (up to 475v !) than a regular 6v6 can.
it is the "go to" tube for Deluxe Reverbs which put out much higher voltages than a 6v6 is designed to take. This tube gets a big "thumbs up"!
