MB800

Your Price: $1,089.00 CDN

Limited stock available in select stores only

Continuing the evolution of the MB series, the MB800 features incredible output, increased functionality and a completely discreet FET (field effect transistor) driven preamp. With 800 massive "GK watts" of power, the MB800 can handle even the largest venues without breaking a sweat, and at 4.9 lbs. neither will your roadie. All of the controls of the MB800 are lit to indicate the current operating status including; input clip, tuning mute, Gain A, Gain B/Level-B, power amp clipping, limiter enable and EQ/Contour settings. The same FET technology used to create the legendary boost (G.I.V.E.) circuit found in all GK amplifiers for over 30 years is used in every stage of the MB800 preamp. Using FET devices to drive the GK four band active EQ, Contour and Gain allows the MB800 to transition seamlessly from a full, warm, clean tone to full on GK growl.

After stupidly selling my GK 800RB (my favourite bass amp of all time) I picked up one of these at L&McQ and was blown away by how similar it sounds. Only 5 lbs but it's incredibly loud, and is comfortable on any size stage. After carrying it to rehearsals and gigs for years in my backpack along with my pedals and cables, I ordered the metal wings or ears from GK and rackmounted it with another 800RB I picked up used at L&McQ (along with a SansAmp Ged-2112 pre-amp). Redundancy with a twist is a wonderful thing. Even though they sound similar, I think my 800RB sounds warmer and grittier than the MB800, but I've never done a blind taste test.

"Good luck getting some warmth out of a solid state head" "Those transistors will just smoke once they are driven hard" "Those units are not able to stand up to the demands of the road" blah blah blah... Folks - This head is unbelievable!!! Seriously! I have owned this head for over a year and have used it in a variety of bar and outdoor settings along with a GK 4x10 and I have to say, I was certainly unsure what to expect at first. We've all had the chance to load up hundreds of pounds of equipment after a gig (which of course if no fun) BUT - this is a dream! Sounds Great, Sturdy reliable and lightweight. If you are in the market for a lightweight workhorse : have a look at this one - I think you'll be amazed at the options available and the timbre and sound you can dial out of it. Include this in your test drives. It isn't for everyone, but I can't see anything wrong with it for what I do which is 95% live music. Good luck in your gear selections!

Has that GK growl and punch we all have grown to love. So much volume on tap it scares me. At 4 ohms with the right cab you can blast off to the moon. Did I mention how loud it was? If your in the market for a micro head to replace your "good old" SVT I suggest this beast. It blows away the SVT in volume, weight and the tone is just as good if not better. Probably the best amp purchase I've ever made and I've owned a lot of amps in 20 years.

I've had the MB800 and a neo 2x12 for a couple of months now and I think they're both great. The head has headroom for days, and the best part is it fits in the pouch of my gig bag. On the first gig I used it at my g#!(@r player said it almost sounded like a tube amp. My only complaint is that the knobs seem a little flimsy, so I have to be careful not to damage them. Over all, great tone, pants flapping power, and it doesn't break my back.

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty.

Warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?

Performance Guarantee - normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage.

Product Replacement - if your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.

No Lemon Policy - your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.

Convenient - easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.

Guitar Setup - Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.

Loaners Available - a loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.

Power Surge Protection - your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.

Accessory Coverage - any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.

Commercial Use Coverage - music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty.Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, woodwind pads, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Accidental or cosmetic damage is not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

NEW products: 4% of selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.

USED products: 4% of selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year. Pricing for used electronic products is 4% of the original new selling price.

GUITARS: 4% of selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.

BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: $40 up to $2,000 selling price. BRASS and STRINGS: 2% of the selling price after $2,000. WOODWINDS: 4% of the selling price after $2,000.

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.
