Are you someone thats always striving to enhance your tone? Its time to un-leash the power of the Empress ParaEQ w/Boost EQ Pedal on your instrument sadly, it may piss you off that you havent been using it for years.

Most Beta testers were not excited to test this pedal for us it didnt have the bells and whistles of the superdelaybut they were pleasantly surprised.

Design Philosophy
The Empress ParaEq w/Boost EQ Pedal is designed to be a simple device that does its job extremely well. We noticed that the EQ section of many instrument amplifiers offer a very limited range of control. We designed the Empress ParaEq w/Boost to give musicians a powerful, musical, high quality EQ in a conveniently small package. The signal path of the ParaEq w/Boost is comprised of the highest quality components chosen for their transparency, powerful tone shaping capabilities, and low operating noise. With the Empress ParaEq w/Boost your instrument will still sound like your instrument, only better.

Features & Specifications
- Ultra Transparent Sweet Sounding EQ enhance your sound without masking the tone of your instrument.
- Lots of Control - with switchable q, fully over-lapping sweepable frequency selection, and 15dB of cut and boost youll get all the control you need.
- Ultra-Quiet Youve come to expect our pedals to be noise free and weve delivered once again. If you put this at the front of your chain and boost a bit youll also cut down on the noise your other pedals are introducing.
- Loads of Headroom - Internally switchable to run off 9/12/18V power supplies.
- 30dB of Boost - making it an ideal candidate before long effects chains and overdriving tube amps.
- Pristine Clean Sound We measured the distortion to be less than 0.03%. Pretty remarkable for a guitar pedal.
- True Bypass - The Empress ParaEq w/Boost EQ Pedal employs true bypass, so you can be sure that it's not affecting the signal when disengaged.
- Perfect Size - The enclosure measures approximately 4.5" by 3.5" by 1.5", which is delightfully small when considering all the features packed into this unit.

This pedal is so much more than it might seem at first. I have had an iteration of this pedal ever since Steve Bragg released the very first version. It is amazing regardless where you put it in your signal path. Whether you use it to boost the front or your drives with eq to push the guitar to the front of the mix or stick it after your drive section to voice your tone to your exact taste. Further more this pedal is not restricted to guitars... I have used it to cure issues with Cello and Violin piezo quackiness, also in the loop of my mixer to isolate and then remove problematic frequencies. It really is a swiss army knife of tone. This is the one pedal that will never be rid of me. Also Empress has incredible service and friendly staff.

I have two EQ pedals on my board. This one and a Source Audio Programmable EQ. With these two pedals, I can mimic the tone stack and general sound of most amps out there. I'm not sure how many guitarists realize just how powerful and useful an eq pedal can be. It doesn't matter so much which amp you use because as long as it has the gain structure and compression that you like, an eq pedal will take you where you want to go. The Empress ParaEQ is one of the best because it is super quiet, extremely versatile and powerful. The boost has an amazing amount of gain. I usually only run it at a quarter of the dial and it is plenty loud. It is expensive but so worth it. LOVE this pedal!

This pedal has enhanced my tone seriously! On bass I've been able to clean up my tone and make sure the bottom and top punch through. On guitar I've been using it on a Vox AC4, and I'm blown away by how amazing that amp sounds now. I can cut the boxy kids out turn up the bass to fill out the sound more and boost the treble to get the Vox chime I love. Also the boost function is amazing and I use it all the time when I need a little more volume when I hit a chorus or solo.

While it takes some time to tweak exactly the sound you are looking for, the incredible versatility and range on this thing is amazing. I personally use it with bass, but a buddy of mine uses it for acoustic guitar and he loves it as well. Honestly a 10/10, just a little pricey!

I have three Empress pedals in my studio; the compressor, the Para EQ and the Superdelay. I'm looking to buy another Para EQ.

I felt there was a little warmth missing from my tone. The EQ controls on my amp didn't quite get me the precise little touches I was looking for, so I started researching EQ pedals and found this. As soon as I demoed it, I was amazed by how much it warmed up everything, and allowed me to really dial up (or dial down) certain frequencies. It can really bring the fretboard a whole new life. It also lets you really get in there and dial out any feedback problems without hollowing out the tone. The only thing I can compare it to is a Boss EQ that I had years ago, and really, the Boss pedal isn't in the same league. This is an always-on tone treat. I love it clean, but also just after a fuzz or distortion to really add some extra menace to the thunder.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
