When I was looking for a set of hats I was looking for a full body dark sound of a 15" but something with a lot of stick definition an sizzle and bit. A tall order to say the least. I tried almost 75 hi hat Cymbals and felt that these where the cymbals that bit more then most hit hats and had that heavy full bodied crash and lots of Top end when you need it. Note I found the 14" in this model to be too heavy which cut back the top end and became muddy. I was surprised that a 13" could sound as full and even fuller still than most 14" hats. Look up videos like Memphis drum shop to get an idea of the sound, if you dig them or not. Just one guy's take on these
