I bought this amplifier to play some gigs I went into the store looking for the best bang for the buck without giving up quality sound I almost bought the 50 but my sales rep convinced me to try the 100 as it would be more suitable for all situations and one can never have too much headroom power my only complaint and its not a real issue is theres so much effects and things that are available to do with this amp but you almost need to study how to use it beforehand not all that simplistic to use but other than that its great clear power and good value I got what I wanted for the money I cant complain

I never much cared for digital modelers, but a full panel of controls and the ability to easily save pre-sets this amp really doesnt feel like a modeler. I just use the panel controls and a cheap 2 button switch, and I can get it to do anything from country to metal on the fly. At practice volumes I can get gain sounds as good as any other rig I've owned. At gigging volumes the gain starts to sound a harsh and digital, but its got a tone of clean headroom and takes pedals great. With an OD pedal or two it can sound great at ungodly volumes.

I had the Katana MK2 50W but I just found it to be a bit dull sounding….I picked up the Katana MK2 100 and wow…what a difference. I wish this Amp had been around back in 1990 when I was doing the bar band scene. Amazing Amp and absolutely gig worthy.

I’ve been a tube amp guy for 20 years and finally realized I’m never going on tour again and don’t need the power of a tube amp. This amp sounds outstanding at all levels. It lacks that certain warm thump of a tube amp, sure, but for playing around at home and with friends, you’d be silly to buy anything else.

I first bought the MkII 50 but I missed having the effects loop. Knowing I wanted a loop pedal the lack of an effects loop was an issue. So I traded it back in for the MkII 100 which does have it. This is a fantastic amp. Full stop! Really nice tones, quality build, and tons of effect possibilities. 2 banks of 4 pre saved effects with many many more on line with the Tone Studio. DI for plugging into a mixer or work station. A built in attenuator for nice break up at lower volumes This amp has too much to list here so read up on the site. I would love to say they are made in Japan but I believe its Malaysia. No worries though as it is very high quality. A shout out to Megan at the Mississauga location! A great salesperson to deal with.

This amp for the money can't be beat. Whether doing the stage or studio is won't disappoint. I recommend purchasing the GAFC foot controller for optimal performance. ***CAUTION*** Read the driver page on Boss site very carefully before using. Then,,,,,read it again! I can't stress that enough. Enjoy.

I have had the 100 watt Mk 1 for about 2 years. In my experience of owning about roughly 20 amps, including Marshall, Peavey, Ampeg, Boss Cube, Fender, Traynor, Yorkville, Gibson, National, Tech 21, both tube and SS, this is hands down the best amp in terms of value. It has a great sound that does not sound like a tube amp or a solid state, in my opinion. It just sounds good. I use this on stage, and I find the different power settings very convenient. I have used this in a few recording sessions as well, in 3 different studios, where there were many other amps available, and we used this.

not worse than tube tone , A/ B ing with a 6L6 tube amp - dialing in the Katana to sound like the tube amp , both are good ....there was still this extra ...ju ne say squat with the tube amp tho.....the tones were really close , but the tube amp had- more " FEEL " that kinda sorta made it easier to play . But the Katana comes loaded with great sounding effects , drives etc and has everything i could want in a grab and go amp , its very little ,loud and sounds good . It is a very good amp , I think the tube amp has more magic .

I had the Katana-50W for 6 months and I am really pleased. And when I heard of the MKII Series, I decided to return and trade it for the Katana-50W MKII. Unfortunately, what they have on stock only is the Katana-100W MKII. L&M staff (Alex) suggested me to try it first, play with it as much as I want and then let me decide later. Apparently, I ended up buying it because of the new sounds and more options I can do with it. Aside from its expanded features, I am now able to plugin my Boss GT-1 and maximize its features too. Tone Studio also has a better and modern GUI. I had to add some cash but it was really worth it! Salute to the L&M staffs too for being kind and helpful!

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
