Tonebone Plexitube Tube Distortion
This product is no longer available.
This two channel tube distortion pedal combines the natural warmth and harmonic generation of a 12AX7 tube with the control and saturation of our unique multi-stage solid-state drive circuit. This combination provides incredible gain with tons of overtones and, when combined with our unique passive-interactive EQ, produces four generations of Marshall Plexi tones worthy of a Shakespearian Ode.

Designed to enhance on-stage functionality, the Plexitube features two distinct distortion channels for on-the-fly transition between rhythm and lead settings. Channel-1 has been optimized for rhythm with chunk rhythm tones and scooped out mids for a thunderous wall-of-sound and complete world domination. Channel-2 is optimized to produce razor-sharp cut for solos and sustaining mids that are so smooth, they can make a grown man cry. This is augmented with an effects loop that can automatically turn your delay on for leads. No tap dancing!

When the Plexitube is off, true-bypass connectivity ensures the natural tone of your guitar goes directly to your amp without obstruction or a tone robbing load.

The Radial Tonebone Plexitube takes metal guitar one step beyond anything you have experienced so far. God save the Queen.!

as close to marshall tone you`ll get. how it responds with a solid state amp I can`t comment, I no longer own any. tone shaping is unlimited. I had to trim for channel 2 all the way down and there is still more than enough distortion to play with. with the trim dial on the side at max it is new territory that is insane. I was fortunate to purchase this at their clearance sale price. where they are now discontinued. at full price I would not hesitate to make the investment. recently purchased the revv G-3. these two pedals IMO are the best available. haven`t run my compressor EQ or 808 with this yet. I expect better things to come. the only downside, starting with channel one with distortion set at its lowest setting it might be to much if you looking for sweet spot tube breakup. this unit can handle basically all distorted styles. maintains all tube tone and response in all of my heads and combos. it`s the grab and go with a light combo that turns you set-up into it can do it all. G.

I bought this pedal on the sheer reputation of Radial Engineering and their other quality products. I bought one, and had to return it because one of the level pots was a dud, but did pickup a replacement which was easy to do through L&M's excellent return policy. This second one rocks. In fact, I've had to use the 'trim' to tone down the distortion (the trim is set at about noon). The controls allow you to create or emulate nearly any distortion sound. And with the 12AX7 tube, it take a bit of time to 'warm' up, but the 'tube' sound is phenomenal and response well to your touch or volume changes. Also, if you're not happy with the 'tone' of the tube, you can experiment with changing it to either mellow out the distortion further, make it more 'round', or make it extreme -- depending on the tube you choose. I highly recommend this pedal if you're the type that likes to dial around, or if your the player that needs two distortions in one. The price may seem steep, but bear in mind you are getting two distortions in one and channel 2 does allow for an effects loop if you are looking to add a flanger/chorus/delay to your solos. Awesome pedal for any level or type of player.

This pedal surprised me! Every setting I tried I thought, "I can use that"... Makes my amps sound loud and driven even at the lowest volumes. It could make a pocket amp sound like a cranking Marshall. Hard to make it sound bad. The drive is too much even on low if you only want a slight overdrive, BUT remember this is a distortion pedal, not an overdrive :) it sounds sooo coool...

This was an impulse buy for me; I bought it after looking at some videos online and liked what I heard. I was NOT prepared for the sheer awesomeness that ensued when I plugged it in to the front my 18-watt tube head. If you play slug-rock, metal, shred-core, hard rock, classic rock.. it doesn't matter, this will not disappoint! The 2 channels are perfect for me, I no longer have a use for a seperate boost pedal or an a/b effects loop switch. The channel-independent mid eq profiles are tied to the "contour" knobs so that you can essentially move the "scoop" or "bump" in the eq (whatever you select from the profile switches) to find your amp's "sweet spot". I play it with a Gibson Les Paul Standard, and it LOVES humbuckers, however it can really fatten up the tone of your single-coil axe to give you the bite and the punch that you want. Overall, this pedal is essential to my tone, and it's staying right in the center of my board!

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
