From time to time, I stop in at L&M Edmonton North to play a few guitars and rent when a guitar of interest is available. I always compare my S&P Woodland Concert to other guitars. To this point no other guitar interests me save the Martin Junior Dreadnought.
In my opinion, the S&P Woodland Concert is a great guitar to grow with from strumming to finger picking. Easy on a 70
year old with arthritic thumbs.
As for the dead sounding low E that has been noted in other reviews, I would suggest Martin Retro strings which give a much better sound!
Edmonton North is a great store with great staff.

I bought this when they first came out back in February 2020. I was looking around $1000 price point but tried this by chance and loved it. The slimmer body is really nice and it still retains a decent amount of bass. Very comfortable stable maple neck thats not too thin and not too thick. I have never used the elctronics othe than for the tuner. The tuning accuracy I find is not very good unfortuanately so I use a headstock tuner. Not sure if they're all like this but mine doesn't get accurate tuning. Although the stock mini tuners are decent, I replaced mine with regular size Grover rotomatics which drop right in with no drilling required! The guitar looks great as well and has a nice fit and finish. I installed the optional included pickguard that is in the case with the other case candy and I think it looks really great. Overall this is a great guitar for the price and despite the slim body it still has a nice full sound. Highly recomended.

The quality of this guitar is phenomenal for the price. I’m just a beginner and could have gotten something cheaper but I wanted to learn playing on something that would allow me to grow. The sound and feel makes me want to pick it up and play. The onboard tuner is very handy. It came with a gig bag too. Support a Canadian company known for quality. You can’t go wrong with this guitar.

I bought this in Saskatoon and I've tried all guitars on the 500-900 range (Epiphone Humming Bird Studio and the Gibson Inspired J-45, Martin D-X2E, Taylor Academy 10e, Takamine G-70 Koa, Seagull can't remember what I tested) and I was blown by this. The finish is perfect for my hand especially on the neck, not a fan of gloss. What sold me is how they even rolled the fret edges for the price range, all the guitars that I tested were pretty rough on the sides except for this and the Seagull. I tested all of it plugged in (eq all flat) and unplugged, and I fell in love with this. The mid range of this is awesome, there's the crisp but not too harsh, the bass is spot on perfect for strumming and finger style. Volume wise unplugged my Epi AJ210CE is louder than this but the pre-amp of this is better than my Epiphone. Tuner is better than Epi's and the tuning heads are better than Epi's. Gig bag is solid it even has neck pillow in it and the sides are thick. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase. If I'm going to upgrade again I'll probably go up on the 2000 price range, that's how good this guitar is for my ears. The feel, sound are on the $1000-1500 range for only less than $700

Just traded in my Woodland Cedar Dreadnought for the spruce tiop Woodland Concert Dreadnought. New guitar much easier to play. Crisper sound plus electronics. A great value.

Better feel and sound than many of the more expensive acoustics in my opinion. Won’t get a better acoustic for less than $800, and the gig bag it came with was also a nice add on.

I've had this guitar for just over a year and I find it so comfortable in every way that I'm drawn to play it more often than my other instruments. The neck is perfect for my average sized hands without being too narrow to be comfortable. The finish is lustrous, but deep and very well applied, with no blemishes, faults or crazing. It was perfectly set up, right out of the box. The gig bag is very top end for the money. I would have given it five stars except for the fact that the guitar strap button on the bottom end is not deep enough to take a standard guitar strap. I managed by cutting down my strap, but don't feel overly confident that it won't let go. I have no regrets and know that I'll have this guitar right to the end.

I’ve had this guitar for three weeks now and I’ve hardly put it down. It’s easy to play and sounds great. Especially like the slightly slimmer body size. The low E string sounds dead to me, so I’m looking forward to replacing the factory strings soon. Overall, I love it. Highly recommend. I haven’t play it with an amp yet, so can’t comment on the electronics.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
