AV 30 speakers are built with the same quality materials and precision electronics as the higher-level, M-Audio professional studio speakers. The amplifier architecture, ferrofluid-cooled silk dome tweeters, polypropylene-coated woofers and dense wooden enclosures all work together to create a well-defined sound that appears to exceed the speakers' small size.

These speakers are good yes the bass isn't the greatest but their purpose are for studio monitors. The clarity is good and i think the speakers are well balanced. I bought these for 100 dollars 8 years ago and they still work. I never turn these speakers off they are always on and now they are connected to my tv. I use them as media speakers even though they are not designed for it but all media especially music sounds great.

Great Computer Speakers, Not Great Reference Monitors

I picked up a set at a great price, but I'm not surprised by the quality considering the price. They are great for multimedia and gaming, but I can't really recommend them for mixing.
Recently, I was trying out a few different microphones for voice-over work. In my headphones, there were noticeable differences in the reads. This isn't surprising as headphones are very good at highlighting minute details. However, I was disappointed by the fact that these monitors didn't represent the differences at all. I could hardly tell one track from the other - this alone killed it for me as it's hardly a reliable way to pick good sound sources if your reference monitors can't present the distinguishing details.
Decent multimedia speakers, but I would suggest avoiding if you want to do anything but the most basic mixing.

These speakers are way too colored. My ears were irritated after a while, not good. Save your money and get some real reference monitors its worth it.

For 90 bucks for the pair. Good entry level speakers. Ive been using mine for 6months have enjoyed them but time to move up.

Found that my mixes did not translate to other mediums very well at all. Also after a year or two I suddenly noticed that there was no bass coming out of the left (amp) speaker.
For both reasons would not recommend these.

I bought these a few months ago mainly because of two things, A) they were cheap and B) they were M-Audio. For someone starting out and on a small budget, these are a great buy. Obviously there are better monitors out there, but at least for me, I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a hobby I wasn't sure that I would keep up as I am more into playing, then recording. I will upgrade my monitors at some point, but for now these are a good purchase and I'm happy with them.

I picked these up a couple of months ago hoping they would be small yet usable monitors.
After setting them up to ear level and burning in for more than 20 hours, I must say I'm not impressed.
I didn't expect much as I got a cheapo pair of monitors but these make everything sound too boomy.
On the mix, my guitars sound like half bass and I have to eq everything way out of wack.
I wish I had spent a bit more got a pair of AV40s or another brand altogether.
For now I just use them as multimedia PC speakers and will be looking to get something else soon.
