DT25 - Head
This product is no longer available.
If you want a guitar amplifier that can do it all, then you want this amp! Line 6's DT25 series amplifiers kick modeling amplification up a notch, the same way their POD HD line did. This isn't just the next step in modeling, it completely changes the meaning of modeling. Here's the basic idea behind the DT25: all great guitar tones are based on one of four basic voicings. These voicings can be described as American clean, English chime, English crunch, and Modern high-gain. The DT25 uses the same ultra-high-resolution HD modeling found in their POD HD effects units to emulate these basic voices, and that's where the modeling (in a traditional sense) ends. The rest is pure tube genius.

And with a tube guru like Reinhold Bogner behind the design, we certainly didn't expect less. Bogner's design is one of the most flexible tube designs out there. The DT25 uses one 12AX7 preamp tube and two EL84 power amp tubes - nothing special there, right? Wrong! A couple of simple switches on the front panel let you flip the power amp stage from Class A to Class A/B and from triode to pentode mode. This dynamic analog circuitry lets you completely customize the way the DT25 responds to your playing style.

What's even cooler is how you can hook up a POD HD via the L6 LINK connection, and the DT25 will automatically reconfigure itself to match the tone you call up. The L6 LINK also lets you daisy chain multiple DT25 series amplifiers via standard XLR cables. The DT25 is even perfect for recording and low-volume rehearsal. Just dial in the low-volume control, and you get the tone you want at the level you need. If you're recording, you can also go directly out of the DT25 via XLR. All told, the Line 6 DT25 is one amp you can count on to provide you with the massive range of genuine tone you need to play anything in any situation!

One thing is for sure .... there is NO OTHER amp out there that does what these DT amps do. Note that it is "designed" to pair with the Line 6 POD HD500 so that's where you get your best experience. However, that being said, with the latest firmware you can have up to 8 out of 30 amp models resident on the amp at any time in stand alone mode (a little midi editing is required to do that but it does come with 4 amp models duplicated on each channel out of the box). You can rearrange or redistribute those amp models at any time. With the POD attached, you can select directly from the pool of 30 amp models anytime. The POD connects digitally to the amp via a 3 wire AES/EBU cable (not supplied) although a standard mic cable will work. As a stand alone amp, the two channels allow you set up a clean/grunge situation but an optional foot switch (not supplied) is required for easy switching during playing. You can have any amp model combination between the two channels, even the same amp model at different volumes. The only effect the amp comes with is reverb and that can be edited via midi for different styles. It is surprisingly loud. I have never been able to run it full out. Always enough headroom (I can't imagine how loud the DT50 would get). I use two matching Line 6 DT112 (1 x 12) cabs as I like to split the weight up as opposed to a combo. I did replace the tubes soon after I bought it as it had a bit of a hum out of the box. This is not uncommon and the new tubes were dead silent. You'll have to do it sooner or later anyway. Comes with the territory. Not had any issues with it in a couple years. Considering the versatility and wide range of amplifier modelling, this amp is hard to beat. If resources were available, two of them would provide a killer stereo rig utilizing the POD's stereo effects or you could also run two completely different amp models simultaneously with two DT amps via the POD all connecting to each other digitally through Line 6 Link. I will also mention that is has a "low volume mode" but I think most of users do not really use it all that much preferring the sound of the true tube output rather than a low volume modelled sound. I'd give it two thumbs us as they say in the movies.

I have the Dream Rig: 1 - DT25 Head and cabinet 2 - James Tyler Variax JTV-69 3 - POD 500HD floor unit, with additional 20 foot VDI cable. The Rig sounds great and operates like a dream. However, upgrading is a challenge but worth the risk. Some of the upgrade highlights include: Customizable Voicings With four voicings per channel, you have eight unique options at your fingertips when connected to a POD HD unit. 12 Reverbs with Spillover V2.0 firmware lets you configure each voicing with your choice of 12 reverbs, each with unique parameter settings. Switching between Channel A and Channel B now includes reverb spillover, which lets your reverb finish its decay when you switch channels. To upgrade your DT Series amp from Version 1 to Version 2, you will need: A computer with the most current (at least Version 1.65) Line 6 Monkey software installed. Monkey will “Ping” your DT amp to determine what firmware version it is, after all software and current drivers are loaded and the cables are plugged in. Monkey (online) will determine what the latest firmware from Line 6 is for your DT amp. The firmware is different for the head vs the combo so make sure you select the correct format. A reliable AC power supply. A reliable internet connection. The upgrade process cannot be interrupted once commenced; otherwise you may render your DT amp unbootable. Some unfortunate souls did not follow the correct procedures and had to send their amp back to Line 6. A Line6.com username and password, and be logged on. A USB-to-MIDI interface with MIDI-in and MIDI-out cables, and current drivers loaded into your computer. I used the Roland ($35.00) UM-ONE mk2 MIDI interface and it worked flawlessly. Make sure you follow the directions to load the drivers from the CD ROM. Make sure you select the correct MIDI interface for MIDI-in and MIDI-out in Monkey. Your DT-series amp. Note: the upgrade from Version 1 to Version 2 will change/erase your existing presets. At the end of the process you will get a prompt on your computer screen that the installation has been successful, then you can breathe a sigh of relief.

I bought this package with the HD500 and matching 1/12 cab. I have no limits to what sounds or styles I can get. This little amp sounds amazing.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
