This book is a practical resource for classroom or music teachers. This percussion ensemble can consist of as few as 3 or as many as 40 students, ages 10 and up. Plastic buckets of various sizes are substituted for traditional percussion instruments. Buckets are divided into bass, alto and soprano sections. After establishing some basic rhythm reading, techniques, and a steady pulse, students are divided into sections and begin playing "Bucket Music" as an ensemble.
The book is divided into two parts. The first part explores the educational rationale behind bucket drumming ensembles. The second half is a "how to" manual. It provides set up instructions, bucket drumming techniques, classroom management tips, and teaching strategies. Included as well are photos, notated exercises and several tested and performable "Bucket Music" compositions meant for Junior and Intermediate students.
