DR Legend bass strings are incredibly well made. Durable flatwound, as they handle heavy play without showing wear, losing pitch or snapping.
Install / set-up is a breeze with very accurate & stable intonation; settled within ~5 days.
Good tension: medium-high / supple feel / "glassy" finish.
The Legends are tacky when fresh with a terrible zing in the top 3 strings, which gives the illusion of it being an unbalanced set.
They smooth out, and their "zing" begins to fade after ~20 hours / 1 week of playing. After a month or two this set completely balances out.
Needless to say but I'm so impressed with these DR's, I can't resist sharing this next bit.
Over the past two decades I've tried nearly 30 different types of bass strings from all around the world. You name it: nylon tape, groundwound, inox, nickel... round core, hex core, etc.
Based off of this experience, in my humble opinion, handmade flatwound strings wound with a pure nickel outer wrap, upon a round core without silk underlay, are unsurpassed in their tone, timbre & feel on an electric bass.
Unfortunately there are less than a handful of companies who make such a string, and they are usually special-order. One of them companies I have grown particularly fond of over the years, is called Pyramid.
Since first trying a set of their custom flats($$$)...I've been hard pressed to find another stringmaker who's formula comes remotely close to theirs.
While DR's Legends don't have a pure nickel outer wrap, they do hold the MOJO that only few stringmakers can procure.
Wow!

I've tried a variety of bass strings over the years and DRs have completely stolen my heart. I use DRs exclusively on my basses now. When I got my fretless P-bass used, it had some unknown set of half-rounds on it. I immediately replaced them with DR high beam flatwounds and the thing just came to life! My only complaint is that this set currently comes in only one gauge. Luckily, it's my favourite guage: 45-105. If you ever decide to try out flatwounds, do yourself a favour and slap these on your bass. I doubt you'll regret it. Cheers.
