I replace my 12AX7 tube from my Vox Valvetronix VT30 and the difference is insane. The tone totally cleared up on clean and distortion. On distortion you don't get that oversaturate fuzziness anymore. I would says it is a must have for those Vox Valvetronix model.

Recently replaced the EL84's in my Vox with a Mesa tube pair and heard an immediate improvement, surprisingly just like Mesa claims. So, decided to complete the set and add preamp tubes to the upgrade. Weren't as pricey as I was anticipating and amp is chiming nicely. Difficult to compare the before and after especially with new power tubes too, but I'm pleased with the range of clarity, tones and grit that I wasn't hearing before.

My Traynor YCV40 had its stock tubes (all 3 tubes were Sovtek 12ax7A) that I bought in 2005. It was time to change them. I wanted a dirtier sound and searched for info on the internet. So I use the GT-12AX7C in V1, to give the dirty tone I was looking for. In V2, right before the send effect loop, I put a Mesa-Boogie SPAX7, as recommended in another review. In V3 (inverter in some references, but called splitter in the Traynor manual) a Mesa-Boogie 12AX7 because I saw in a video that it was better if V3:a and V3:b signal have the same mV, which Mesa-Boogie tubes are supposed to be. I'm very satisfied with the dirty sound of th GT tube. This preamp tubes setup provides me with more color, and more nuances. A pitched harmonic was neatly hearable, which was nit the case with my old and tired stock tubes. I wrote all this information because I don't know how much this single tube is responsible for the change in my amp sound, but I strongly recommend this one.

Nice medium quality tube with a bit of grit. Their other more premium tube is better in the phase inverter and V1 slot.

MAny preamp tubes can sound very nice but you lose that certain feel you get especially from amps like a vintage Marshall. Believe me I'd be experimented with many preamp tubesand if you want some really nice gainand have that great feel from Your tube amp then these are the tubes for you. I was using JJ's but they lack just a little bit of gain I was so surprised when I threw the Mesa in at the big positive difference as it totally changes the characteristic of my amplifier in a positive way. These tubes are a little pricey but otherwise I love them and I'm sure you will

The Mesa 12AX7 is an excellent tube for anything, but is especially good for rock and higher-gain. I used them in my 1977 Hiwatt DR505 and they rock. I've since switched 3 other amps over to the Mesas. You **can't go wrong** with these
