I settled upon this Studio LP after searching for a relatively cheap, versatile guitar for cramped jam sessions. The 'Inspired By Gibson' line from Epiphone has shown to be full of well-built, quality guitars that far exceed their price tag. This Studio is no exception. Other choices (such as the LP or SG Muse) have beautiful colours and paint finish but that expense means that less is spent on other areas. With the Studio, it seems that the stripped down look allowed Epiphone to focus more so on the build-it is really well constructed! CTS pots with coil-split pickups, a tune-o-matic bridge, stop bar tailpiece and Grover tuners is great for sustain and tuning stability. The Pau Ferro fingerboard is FAR better than I had hoped and quite a bit superior than the Indian Laurel wood and fretwork that some of the cheaper Epiphones have. I don't think there is a better value for the money guitar in the IBG lineup (I have since swapped out the Epiphone classic pickups for Seymour Duncan APH-1's and this thing absolutely sings and feels as well as the 2017 USA Gibson LP Tribute I owned for a number of years). 'Play and Trade Guitar' on youtube has an in-depth look, inspection and demo of this guitar that is worth a look. They basically deem it a "must have"
In case it was not clear already, a HUGE thumbs up from me ;)

Probably the most versatile guitar I own, got it second hand and the customization of different tones on this thing is insane. The pull knobs let me simulate a P90, the standard tones sound great with any pedals and clean, and the pickup selector really lets you express yourself to the fullest.
Pros; lighter than a gibson, cheaper than a gibson, sounds VERY close to a gibson, feels very close to a gibson. great customization, great sound and tone quality, etc.
Cons; No gibson logo

I was on the hunt for that signature LP tone, but on a budget. This little beauty caught my eye, and after going through a number of reviews, I snagged one for myself. I love the resonance, tone and feel. I really love that I didn't have to take out a second mortgage to get it. No bells, whistles or need for fancy knobs or inlays - I'm strictly a recording studio guy. Great at high gain as well as crisp, clear clean tones. No regrets about picking this one up, at all.

I love my gem, action is awesome . I've had and played gibsons however for the difference in pricing there is no question. It's easy to see why Gibson bought their competition.

Love mine! Setup was perfect when purchased, frets and action were A1. Smokehouse burst is gorgeous and the sound of the Epiphone Alnico humbuckers is top notch.
Great les Paul for the coin....super satisfied with mine!

After selling my cherry red Gibson Les Paul Faded (2018) I realized what a stupid mistake it was to sell it, I missed it so I decided to get this Epiphone Les Paul Studio. I just wasn't playing my Gibson much as it was a gift and wasn't really talking to me. Having had a Squire Classic Vibe telecaster (made in China like this Epiphone Les Paul) I loved it so much that I bought an American Pro 2 Tele. My lesson learned is while the American tele is better, it's not worth (for me at least) to pay 4 times the price when I can equally enjoy them both; as a matter of fact I've enjoyed the Chinese one more because it didn't dug a grave for me in my bank account and still was an amazing guitar.
That's why I decided to give this Epiphone "inspired by Gibson" Les Paul a shot. In the store, I was pleased with the build quality. In fact, it didn't even have any tooling marks on the fretboard that are often seen on Gibsons. When I played it unplugged, it was very resonant and loud. It played well.
When I brought it home I was expecting a semi-decent tone but to my surprise it sounded very Gibson-like. It has a very good bite and lot of stones, if you will. The split coil feature is very usable but I think I'd just play the strat if I want those glassy tones personally. Tone and volume pots have a very nice linear feel, they're not just ON/OFF switch like some cheap ones. The guitar stays in tune pretty well too with Grover tuners (same as Gibson?) even after doing crazy bends and solos.
The pickup selector switch feels very solid, even better than it did on my Gibson to be honest.
Guitar is pretty thick and substantial weight (not heavy in my opinion, but not the lightest either) but it has some weight relief and any lighter than this would not feel like how a Les Paul should in my opinion.
Two things I don't really like is the glossy back of the neck (which isn't really a big deal, but I would've preferred a satin finish) and the small frets. Small frets are the worst thing about this guitar really, and my only pet peeve. However it plays fine with no issues but I just wish they were medium jumbo instead.
All that being said yes Gibson is still the king (of course) with their nitro finish which I prefer over poly finish but their guitars are a lot more money. After learning my lesson with the Squire classic vibe series, I just won't pay 3 times the price for a Made in USA badge. These are good enough for me and frankly I don't have to be scared of damaging a $2000 guitar, they'll get more play time too.

In addition to my previous comments as to why this guitar is a sound value . This guitar has Gibson quality pots and switch , over the regular troublesome Epi switch and pots that seem difficult to set to the tone and volume accurately at times .

Great value for the money , Great sounding pickups that give you plenty of range , 18-1 tuners for great stability , easy playing comfortable neck and set up was great right out of the box. In short a great value that has all the important features of costlier models without the fancy looks . If go is more important than show this is the one you want . The reason for the 4.5 is that despite the "less weight" description it is still a brick lol.

Swiped right on this beauty and I am very pleased with it. Arrived in great condition, brings me joy to play and plenty of room to learn with. Sound has been good, the weight of it is decent, not a burden. Solid and classy with adequate range of tones to play around with before resorting to pedals/effects. Seasoned musicians may want more, but for the rest of us, this does everything it needs to, great guitar.

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty
A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.
Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.
How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.
Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.
Purchasing additional years of coverage
Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.
If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:
NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
